I don't remember the last time I paid attention to stats when choosing my combo. I just do whatever feels nice to drive. My main combo is baby Rosalina Mr.Scooty, rollers and cloud glider

Funnily enough that's one of the more meta combos because of the mini turbo stat

Your last statement about mini turbos is absolutely correct. There's a certain thrill I feel when I'm able to charge an ultra mini-turbo unimpeded then release at the perfect time. And it never feels stale, ever, at least for me and likely most other MK8 players.

Yoshi + Biddy + rollers + cloud glider is technically a max mini turbo build without losing too much speed. It’s used in a majority of world records and is pretty viable in the competitive scene as well.

It's 1 away from max mini turbo, but yeah it functions as the mini turbo combo in time trials!

I used to main this combo and switched around the start of Wave 4. This is still a busted combo and fully stand by it as a viable combo to this day
I'm not sure if it's competitively viable, but its definitely good enough that if you're better than your opponents, it's good enough to win consistently. There were definitely a few times I felt like my speed was too low
I think its just the cutest combo in the game, the colors are matching so well.

I am impressed with your ability to pay any attention to the mini-map. After discovering your channel and watching for a month I decided to get a Switch and Mario Cart 8 Deluxe. This is very much not the Mario Kart 64 that I remember! I have played for a few weeks now and am getting consistently better at it, but being able to "pay attention to the mini-map" is a good long ways off.
Thanks for another awesome video. Your videos helped me get better. I was the worst of all my friends and now I am by far the best. I even did the wait 30 second challenge on them 😂

I've been using a max miniturbo build (lemmy on the mr. scooty with rollers and the parachute) for years now and I've never looked back, it carries so hard

I think the real issue with max mini turbo is the abysmal air speed of 7. The reason teddy buggy is so good is that it allows a setup where your mini turbo and air speed add up to 32, which is the max possible sum of those two.
Definitely going to try out this combo! Almost max acceleration too lol

I get into bagging lobbies where people will take stars and all they see is blood. I know I need to get better at looking back but this game can be so infuriating and great at the same time
I have a similar build that I use regularly with the biddybuggy, but I use Toadette because she’s cute and she’s put up good results for me on 200cc even way before all the balance changes.
I haven’t noticed that the MT stat affected trick boosts until listening. I do know about the other aspects of MT stats like how fast you charge and the strength of the released MT’s.
I love high mini turbo combos, it’s a ton of fun

This is my exact build lol. I love it so much. You just have complete control. The only problem is the low top speed, but if enough chaos happens it’s perfect for recovering and getting back in it.
But at the same time, if you just keep getting comboed by items, it's almost impossible to catch up without boost items. But it's still the most satisfying build to me.

Ngl you make me want to main Baby Mario on this combo. I heard with fighting games you main a character that you feel the most connected to or that you have the most fun with. Some people should apply this to Mario Kart. Yoshi IS my favorite character, but I really dislike Teddy Buggy's design. I don't want to ride a blue teddy bear kart with a stitch on it's but that thing kinda ugly lol. Yoshi and Mr. Scooty or Biddy Buggy is very nice, and tbh, Baby Mario on Biddy Buggy looks like so much fun. Also the smaller characters have lesser hurtboxes and can squeeze through tighter sections better especially online. I know it only has 1 less Mini Turbo stat then something that has 6 higher Speed stat then it, but if you can snake the whole race that thing can be cracked.
Thanks for the video and always teaching your viewers if they don't play a game a top level, just to use whoever they have the most fun playing as :)
this is my go-to kart lol.
i remember in MKDS, there was a drift stat that told you how long a boost lasts, and the lighter the weight, the more it was. so i always use small karts cause it's way better in terms of drift and mini boosts.
its aceleration, bowser have nice drift but sucks at miniturbo in mkds

Are you taking specific combo requests? I think Birdo, Tanooki Kart, and Cusion Wheels might be interesting, it has better traction than Kamek Teddy buggy, which I felt is a big flaw in the meta

no bc you need a minimum speed before you can mt. doesnt really matter tho mos high mt builds have high acceleration

It is better to have more MT, but also there is a bigger difference for low accel combos.
And low accel typically comes with low MT.

miniturbo also affects starting boosts, antigravity spin booster boosts, antigravity crashing into people boosts

Mainly just because baby luigi is my little man but also cause drifting releases chemicals in my brain that make me smile

How fitting that there's a spot for snaking in DS Mario Circuit. Snaking is REALLY good in that game since you basically just have to mash a bit for a mini-turbo in less than a second.

The 30 second cool down for shocks actually restarts once one is used, not pulled.
