two universal constants of House clips: the formula for the episodes, and the comment section whenever the episode is themed in some way around gender.
Watching the episodes, I wonder- who pays the medical bills at the end?- for sometimes, the patient is shown to be homeless or even from an ordinary background- who would never be able to afford such treatment
Well overall the hospital has accepted that his department is going to be run at a loss. House's department value is in the advertisement capabilities it gives the hospital since they can say "we solve cases that no other hospital was able to solve". It's been shown multiple times that people both famous and not go to the hospital in the hopes that they get to even speak to house about their disease for long enough that he decides to treat them.
Short answer is watching people go over billing with the hospital's accounting department isn't very interesting television. It's the same reason we never see Columbo filling out paperwork at his desk or testifying in court.
You realize poor uninsured people, even the homeless - do receive medical care in the US, right? There’s plenty wrong with the US cost system but you still get treated up front.
@@alchemist0019 Not to mention the money Cuddy set aside for legal expenses House might incur, which he's thankfully come in under budget on. His reputation is worth the slight financial hit though.
This is America, we bill insurance. Insurance pays a fraction of it, then the hospital sends the rest of the bill to the patient who ends up emptying their bank account to pay it if they're honest. If they're not honest, they abuse certain laws and string out the repayments for decades with no actual intent to ever pay, and then eventually, the hospital either calls in a collections agency and destroys your credit or everyone lawyers up for a settlement for a fraction of the overall cost. In the meantime, the hospital keeps the lights on by overcharging everyone who walks in the door for literally everything knowing that getting paid for their services is a total roll of the dice. Nah, he changed into a completely different person. Went from, men need to become better partners, to, let me be the Man in this relationship. Those are very different ways of thinking
Yeah, not a great episode. Really makes Testosterone this "Alpha Male" hormone when it really doesn't. It can cause mood swings and such, but it is grossly exaggerated here. Realistically, he would return to his former self but still likely hold his new beliefs. He'd change but not drastically, and especially not negatively. If that were the case, every FtM trans person I knew would be a major jerk, and, shocker, they're not.
It can actually happen just like in the episode. I Have seen it with FTM trans people and there is hundreds of peer reviewed studies on it. Every person reacts a bit differently to hormones' therapy which is why i find it so dangerous to disrupt that balance. It likely not going to happen with majority of people but that's not EVERY person. Now it doesn't necessarily change their believes but the outlooks and aggression? Most definitely. I had low T myself and getting back to normal levels improved my outlook on life tremendously.
There is a reason that there is a condition known as "roid rage." Bodybuilders overusing testosterone injections can become way more aggressive and prone to anger. Interesting counterpoint, overusing testosterone can make men grow breasts and lactate as well. It is because excess testosterone can "aromatize" into estrogen and cause high estrogen in men. Usually men who are on testosterone replacement therapy are given an anti-aromatization drug called "clomiphene" that is also used as a fertility drug in women.
Frankly, if FtM trans people become raging jocks from their HRT, then the American political system would have been dismantled completely at least a few decades ago by the most macho army in human history.
