0:45 what really sucks it that she's right. Despite being a "friendly Army" (or military in general), if someone has medical issues, they will be held back. I know a lot of college students who are going to commission, but to get medically cleared they had to "not tell the whole truth" about things like surgery, emotions, mental subjects that would otherwise keep them from getting into the military. That is one of the many reasons why military soldiers are Messed Up while in and out of the military.

Ive lost most of my hearing due to RMSF and have costant ringing. sometimes bright flashes of light can cause a brief almost "Mic feedback" sound in my head. something to do with my brain trying to hear and turning up the sensitivity to stimulation on the auditory nerve
Hello! :D Grapheme-color synesthete here. Allow me to start by saying I got so excited that ANY show covers synesthesia, accurate or not. (But, of course, here we delve into the subject of accuracy. 😌) There are many forms and variants of synesthesia, so I can't answer for anyone with auditory-visual synesthesia like it seems this lass has. So, here are my thoughts, collected from my own experience and the long amount of time I've spent researching other forms of it: • 2:17 "Is the synesthesia new?" "Yes." ~|~ From my knowledge, synesthesia (GENERALLY) doesn't just ✨ appear. ✨ It's a form of neurodivergence that sticks around with a person ever since they were born. I can't remember a time when I didn't have synesthesia; I just always subconsciously associated letters, numbers, days of the week, and months with colors. It would really surprise me and, indeed, fascinate me if someone suddenly started displaying synesthetic symptoms out of nowhere. o.O However, I did look up some articles to see whether this were true, and while it is correct that sometimes there can be a sudden onset, I'm mostly seeing symptoms of drug use (like one of the students mentioned), posthypnotic suggestions, or brain injury. Sooo...I don't think it's impossible at all, but just unlikely/improbable. :) • It would also surprise me for someone to receive synesthesia from something like frequent flying. I've never heard of it, but here I leave it to the medical experts to tell me if there has, in fact, been a proven case of synesthesia caused by heights above 20,000 feet. 😂 (I get the feeling that it, like most medical dramas, is greatly embellished and inaccurate.... XD) • 4:59 As clever as I think it is to see something from her POV, I think it would be pushing it to make it appear that she's seeing the doctors in different colors. Usually there is an element of association. Graphemes and color; auditory and visual stimuli; sequence and space. For her to just see everything in different colors rather negates the point of synesthesia. • And...this is not as much an inaccuracy, but what does her synesthesia have to do with the episode? XD The rest of the clips seem to be relating to her other medical issues. Can someone who has seen the episode confirm that the synesthesia was just thrown in there for dramatic effect? I thought that perhaps that was the point of the episode, but it seems like it just served as the catalyst. C'est tout ! ✨ Here's a cookie if you read all that. 🍪 XD Have a great day, and it was so fun to check out this episode and see what they did with a lovely but under-recognized form of neurodivergence! 😁
The hospital is in New Jersey. If she was allowed to keep her position without proper Healthcare and then crashed as a result, it could lead to many lives being in danger if she were to crash into a public area. Like a building. Or a hospital. It's House's way of making sure he can't be sued for her negligence without making it look like he cares too much.
So . . . Synesthesia. For those who know AJR but not much about the brothers themselves, Jack actually has this. And I have met 1 person with it. Every time he heard the word kite, he could taste Swiss cheese. Must be weird having that.

Well at least we know she shouldn't be an astronaut...its like giving a drivers license to an epileptic because she only has occasional seizures. A seizure is going to happen and if happens on the road the liability is huge. She could kill someone. I work in a field(security) where my own career is stunted by the fact I have an illness I can't cure(even though its considered in remission). It's hard to accept, but you have too. Those guidelines are in place for a reason. In my case I can't be approved to carry a gun on the job...that limits me from most supervisory positions. It's a myth that security guards can't use lethal force...they can, in many places.
But if it's controlled then someone has an unexpected breakthrough after many years of treatment?
Atleast here security needs a special license to be able to use a firearm

1:51 "Tesla was Robbed!" referring to how basically all of Nikola Tesla's inventions were credited to others lol
I thought military soldier are "messed up" because they're trained to blindly follow orders and kill on command, but probably I'm wrong.
@MrSoldiersideBR you thought wrong. There are actual classes that specifically include NOT following orders..
This is the best way to watch. All the fluff is cut out. Thanks for posting.

Man, Yvette has really done something with her life.

When House said: «I like you number nine», I realized I did not know the real name of «Thirteen». Turns out it’s Remy, which I think I actually knew.

Been years since I saw the ep, but I'm pretty sure House was lying about telling NASA the truth. He just said he did that to keep the other doctors from reaching out to NASA

I remember Essence Atkins from the TV show "Smart Guy". The main role was played by Tahj Mowry. Great TV show, and so is House! And House is so iconic.
Is synesthesia really THAT uncommon of a symptom to intrigue House of all doctors?
I think so. Only one of my doctors knows what it is, and is actually interested enough to learn all he can about it. I generally don't mention it to my "medical team" except when it's really necessary for them to know.
Synesthesia is rare with 2% of the population having it. Even certain types of synesthesia are even more rare. I have mirror-touch synesthesia, which appears in only 1.6% of the general population.

Can we all appreciate Thirteen just shutting down the ethical talk?
I love how Kal Penn (Number 6) tried the Costanza trick. Just go back to work and pretend you didn't quit (or in this case that you were fired).
Essence looks like she’s related to the mowry sisters
Yep. I always thought that, too. Essence and Tia and Tamera’s little brother, Taj Mowry were in a tv show together called Smart Guy.

They seem to have the same temperament..
Also Rudy from the Cosby Show.
I've always thought this!
This show was the medical version of Law and Order.
Law & Order wishes that was true.
If she's willing to lie about this, what else would she lie about?? This is the exact reason the military, government, and other high level jobs and positions, look for those with high levels of integrity, and weed out those that don't... One seemingly unimportant small lie or omission on an application can expose one's true nature, that could potentially cause harm in the future.
Yeah because when I think of high ranking governmental figures, honesty is the foremost descriptor in my mind
lol goverment and integrity. in germany we have scandal after scandal alone from measures during corona, deals to enrich themself, deals with those fast tests (that one is hot and new and just coming in). so no that's a myth, it's about power motive and manipulation.

What is it he's saying at the end exactly? I've listened a couple of times but I'm still confused :')
One of my favourite show to watch. I learn soooooo much
This show had a lot of awesome talent on it.

So, here are my thoughts, collected from my own experience and the long amount of time I've spent researching other forms of it:
• 2:17 "Is the synesthesia new?" "Yes." ~|~ From my knowledge, synesthesia (GENERALLY) doesn't just ✨ appear. :)
• It would also surprise me for someone to receive synesthesia from something like frequent flying. I've never heard of it, but here I leave it to the medical experts to tell me if there has, in fact, been a proven case of synesthesia caused by heights above 20,000 feet. 😂 (I get the feeling that it, like most medical dramas, is greatly embellished and inaccurate.... XD)
• 4:59 As clever as I think it is to see something from her POV, I think it would be pushing it to make it appear that she's seeing the doctors in different colors.
I don't understand the last bit. About the shuttles over New Jersey.
@@jenex6918 but all the trouble they went through to hide the scars only to tell NASA anyway.
So . . . Synesthesia. For those who know AJR but not much about the brothers themselves, Jack actually has this. And I have met 1 person with it. Every time he heard the word kite, he could taste Swiss cheese. Must be weird having that.
