Lynda..... I found your recipe very nice..... and your heart joyful, very contagious ..... and you are a very spicy dish as well as the liver...... May God always watch over you and bless you and your family .....
If your going to try it cook everything separate then add it all to a deep pan with the gravy , when I make it I dice my bacon and use small slivers of floured liver. So cook onions 1st /remove then bacon / remove then add oil and fry liver bits and remove as they cook till all done then throw the oil , add all back to pan with gravy mix and simmer serve with mash and peas yummy.
When my mother was a little girl, and severely anemic, her mother would cut off small pieces of raw liver (how the doctor prescribed it), rolled it into a small ball and froze it, making a pill. My mother was so grossed out at the thought of raw liver, but had no problem when she took it in pill form when it was done this way by her mother. Just a good hit for those who need to take raw liver for iron or other purposes.
+Mark Hicks think I will stick with porter and cooked liver. yuck. :) now health food nuts or food nazi's say you should not eat organ meats at all. I think everything in moderation is the way to go. :)
+grandma lynda I couldn't agree more. Peronally I'd probably pass out UNDER the table if it was plated up for me. lol But back when my mom was little (born 1921), raw liver was how they prescribed it. But rolled into a small ball and frozen in pill form was the only way she could take it. Thankfully her mother thought of this. She had pernicious anemia. I don't blame her for being sick at the thought either. OOOOOH YUK!
I am amazed at how many people commented favourably. I expected lots of EWWW's. but the only one was from my son. :) guess lots of people eat liver. Might be more our generation growing up with it. I have a beef heart in the freezer and may show how my mom cooked that. Don will say EWWW. to that one though.
I stumbled on your channel while learning to pressure cook and boy am I happy I did! You guys have taught me to make healthier recipes and got me wanting to can more! I'd recently got a dehydrator and font know whow to use it :( would you be willing to do a tutorial on dehydrated fruits/veggies and possibly meats? Thank you for hours of entertainment and a wealth of knowledge!
Lynda, your liver and onions look fabulous! I never liked that dish when young, but oh how that has changed! I see no reason to use flour, the liver looks perfect without it. The veggies look great too. You made it all look easy and very yummy!
It was and our butcher here in town almost always gets liver that has the best texture. Some is mushy but his is always nice and firm. I cook this about once a month or so. I hated liver as a kid and Don wouldn't eat it until years after we were married. Thanks for commenting.
+grandma lynda I am so happy to see that you have responded to me! you made my day! I will always try your dishes, they are awesome. I suffer from an iron deficiency so anything that you can post in that regards would assist me! Love your personality also, such a cool Grandma! Team Grandma Lynda!
+Lyss Beker When I was 15 my dr. gave my mother orders to have me drink a bottle of porter a day. To this day I hate the smell and taste of any beer. I had to drink it for a month because I was so low in iron. mind you I am 60 now so I don't think a dr. would keep his license now if he told someone that young to drink it. But it worked. I eat a lot of green veg. just remember that spinach looses it's iron content if cooked. :) I try to answer all comments. I welcome you to my kitchen and it would be rude not to speak to you. luv and hugs.
Thanks so much. I going to get some porter beer and see how that works out for me. Thanks for telling me about cooked spinach, all this time I thought it was just my body not recognizing the iron. I will eat spinach salad or juice it. Love u much.
+grandma lynda drinking that when you were young reminds me of that book and film "the barretts of wimpole" about Elizabeth barrett browning homelife in UK. ugh. she would dread drinking her medicine.
Thank you for sharing that ! We LOVE liver ! What caught my attention was that your kitchen looked just as disorganized as my Mothers was. No-one could find anything in her kitchen. Except her. She knew where everything was. I really enjoyed watching this.
you can have the snow. right now we have about 5' of the stuff and I am right sick of it. Also temps are wind chill -39. Me! I like the fall sun, no biting insects and it is cool. :) My gd is asking if Canada ever gets warm.
This meal Looks DELICIOUS QUEEN. YUMMY 😋 Tonight I made pan fried beef liver with onions and bacon bits I added northern bean with fried bacon and onion with steamed jasmine rice
Great dish. I grew up on liver and onions because it was inexpensive, I'm sure. All these years later it's still on of my favorites. I haven't made it in quite a while though. My grocery store never has it fresh, it's always frozen. I can't remember to take it out to thaw, LOL.
I think that was why mom cooked it as well. We had heart and tongue and sweet breads quite often. Love heart and tongue like liver hated sweet bread. As long as I remember to take it out 2 hours ahead of time it thaws nicely. If I don't hot dogs are on the menu. :)
Hi I love love love watching you. My gran is gone now and u remind me so much of her . Thank you for the memories of Lola Mae that u evoke . God bless you and your hubby is lucky to have u cook for him .
It looks fantastic ! I'm going upstairs in a few minutes to start dinner. I have a package of liver thawing, and will use some white onions, and perhaps some mushrooms. Boil about 3 or 4 Burbank potatoes, mash them, and I will steam some Brussels sprouts with garlic & butter. While growing up, my Mom NEVER made liver. She thought it was nasty. When my Grandma fried chicken, she would fry the gizzards, heart, and liver for my Grandpa. At my first tasting, I was hooked. My favorite Birthday dinner was stir fried, sweet & sour chicken livers with stir fried veggies, and cherry pie for dessert. Very nice video.
Have never liked chicken livers But gizzards and hearts are one of my favourite easy meals. Whipped potatoes and fried sweet onions my dad used to like fried green tomatoes. no batter just fried sliced. Never took to that either. thanks for watching. :)
thanks for watching and commenting. :) Bacon is great with liver and when we were kids we used the mashed potatoes to cover up the liver so we knew what we were eating just didn't have to look at it much. But now I do enjoy liver. But mashed potatoes are still on the plate as the only way to eat it. :) habits die hard.
this is going to sound silly. For the holidays, I'm usually the last house my kids get together at...by that time they are stuffed with turkey and ham. So our holiday tradition of liver n onions for my kids. Sheapards pie for their spouses and kids! It was nice to see that you did not hide the full flavor in flour! I love to see the both of you in the kitchen. Thank you, hugs
+Laurie Ward couldn't make this a tradition as one son loves liver and the other son hates it. He will eat it now that his daughter says it is not real yummy but a little bit yummy. I like to keep things simple they usually taste better that way. :)
We love Liver & onions in a gravy. I pre-brown liver in a pan first. Add sliced onions to a crockpot, liver and cook for 6 hrs.......then add the gravy ingredients. Comes out very tender
Liver, liver, I love liver! This dinner looks terrific! My mom would brown (dark) bacon first, then add the onions, cook the liver, etc...so when it was time to make the gravy it was super rich and almost black. I can still taste it in my mind. :)
bacon onions and green tomatoes after she got out everyone's but dads. But no gravy. none of us cared for it so the mashed potatoes were to hide the taste and gravy would have defeated that purpose. Almost always a dish of coleslaw to go with it.
Hi, I bought some liver at the Farmers Market and am trying your dinner tonight! I have GI issues (allergic to gluten) so I wouldn't be able to add flour anyway! I've never heard of red pepper, but I have all the other ingredients :) What temp did you bake the veggies at? Looks like 330 degrees? I don't eat bacon anyway for health reasons (they're carcinogenic)
This is the cutest video I've seen in a long time! I'm glad I stumbled upon it. I've never made liver, but I'm going to try cooking it tonight after watching this video! I can tell this couple loves each other :)
What an awesome couple! Reminds me of my parents! Wish i could have a relationship like them ... unfortunately you can't teach an old dog new tricks! Lol!
loved watching 💕 liver and onion is super good for you. I am going to make it one day for my children...I will tell them I made steaks because they just wont eat liver if I tell them the truth! lol ..Take it easy. With love from the UK 😜
+Mrs P When the boys were little I just put a small piece on the plate along with things I knew they loved and kept my mouth shut. One son loves liver the other hates it. He will eat a small piece since his daughter likes it and he doesn't want to get her out of eating things. So now he eats a bit of fish even for the same reason. A friend of mine said she always breaded it and made a gravy and her kids thought it was steak. :) mothers sure can be sneaky can't we.
+grandma lynda lol we certainly can 😆 tee hee hee 🙆 ( meant in a good way of course) 😉 in re to liver I will try and disguise it as you have done 👍 I am making it tomorrow for lunch after we visit my precious parents. Will let you know if I managed to fool my kids or..... not lol 😎
It looks delicious.. I do mine with flour lol, but i also make a gravy with it and fry hominy and peas to go with it. That is the way i grew up eating it
Don's mom made it with gravy and mashed potatoes. She served the plates and poured gravy all over the mashed potatoes. It was a horrible meal because the meat was like Don said shoe leather and gravy tasted about the same. Never ate liver there again. A lot of people make gravy with it but we like it plain. Bet your gravy is pretty good. I was thinking of trying gravy but too many carbs and Don likes it this way. thanks.
grandma lynda It is corn buy people say it is soured corn like spoiled lol they have golden hominy and a white. You have to acquire a taste for it I guess a lot of people don't like it. Maybe if you googled it you might dins more about it, I eat liver with out gravy too due to carbs but sometimes with. Dont over cook liver as you know thanks for video and tell Dob I haven't heard about the coffee thing either lol
Thank you grandma Lynda, I always coat my liver, and I make a gravy with onions, green peppers and mushrooms then I simmer 1 piece of the liver in the gravy, but I think I'll try those roasted veggies, I've only cooked butternut squash once and it was in a casserole, I purchased another one lately and was looking for other ways to prepare it. I was thinking about adding carrots, parsnips and sweet potatoes to the squash, Should I set the oven temperature to about 400 degrees and How long should I leave it in the oven? I'm making it as part of my dinner tomorrow.
Maxine Stokes sounds good. 400 is a good temp. the squash and sweet potatoe should cook in the same time frame pretty much. instead of cubing the squash you could cut it into rings and put the other veg. in the rings piled up. sort of looking like a muffin. wrap it in tin foil for 20 min then take it out to crisp up a bit. put a bit of butter and brown sugar or maple syrup since squash loves sweet stuff. I use simply butter and salt and pepper.
Thank you for responding so promptly, I added carrots and sweet potatoes, I had honey butter so I used that, next time I'll use the maple syrup. thanks again...Peace-N-Blessings.
I miss you guys so very, very much. I am watching your videos all over again. I would so appreciate if you would let us know how you are all doing? I know Linda had some serious health issues, and your darling grandaughter must be getting so big. Thank you and Blessings.
I like liver. won't say I love it though. But this was really good. None left for Lucky so he was disappointed. I gave him a small piece from my plate. Heard a lot about Noah hope you enjoy it.
glad you liked it. He uses a Canon vixia HFR200. He was shooting in high definition wide screen. means nothing to me but hope it answers your question. I cook he does the tech stuff.
Update: The liver looked like vampire food! there was blood everywhere! I almost fainted. Turns out you're supposed to rinse the liver before frying it.. I didn't know that. Anyway, threw it out. The baked veggies turned out quite well though :)
+TimeNotWasted 3 it is the appearance that makes many throw it out. Once you get past that it is really tasty. well unless you get what my MIL cooked. She went for dried out and my mother went more on the undercooked style. me I like it cooked but tender. I never rinse it since that would mean I have to touch it raw a bit too much. :)
Haha you're brave.. I couldn't get past the blood. I never realized how bloody livers were! Maybe I'll check and see if any restaurants serve it as I cannot cook it. Thanks for your videos!
My B-12 also went to low normal, so I am eating liver once per week, a lot tinier portion (since I am whole plant food based). I get it at Walmart (US). I know it does not snow around May around here.
Nothing wrong with adding the seasoning just to the oil. You could just toss your veggies around in the oil and seasonings and all of them would get seasoned up! Nice video y'all! I wish I liked liver because I have an iron deficiency :(
I sometimes do it in the foil but this time there was just a bit too much to get it mixed properly. Either way works well. I haven't cooked liver in a while so it was a treat last night. Bought 2 packs so now I have it in the freezer.
It really was good. Better than most times guess my body was saying thank you for the B12. I have been craving red meat for a while now and thought it was just I want to bbq again. Oh well it sure was good. Wish I could share meals sometimes.
Used to be a chef. Have my own restaurant. Now our youngest son is head chef. He loves food and really enjoys cooking it for people. I still have my hands in my restaurant. I just don’t cook hardly anymore. Although I still have all necessary licenses here in Houston. You putting the spices in the oil was fine. I could never do liver good. Always was too dry. Now I can. My son died it perfectly everytime. Get this. I love liver and onions. Hubby doesn’t. But he loves the gravy I make with the flavor with it. I to am a diabetic. I stopped cooking in my restaurant because of 2 reasons. 1. My back. Have 3 sons and had epidurals. 2. Doctor told me to save my legs because of my diabetes. I have type 2. Watch my diet really well. I even have a diabetic menu at the restaurant my son put together. He such a good son always thinking of others.
I stand with the one son who doesn't like liver but your dish looks so yummy. Will have to make this myself with chicken or thinly sliced beef instead of the liver. Time for a grocery run.
I love fried calf or beef liver and onions. I carmalize my onions. I don't flour mine either and just season with salt and pepper. It has to fried just right. I don't think there's any other way to cook liver that's edible.
I love liver but was not heart broken about the parsnips. I do have a few when I roast them but they are mainly for Don. Until I met him I had never tasted them. Mom hates them so that explains that. Thanks for watching.
watched my grandmother cook when we visited. loved to be in the kitchen. My one grandmother was still cooking on a wood stove in the farm kitchen. The other had every up to date gadget. so it was fun. thanks for watching.
grandma lynda I remember standing next to my grandma cooking every weekend she passed 10 years ago and I always loved liver and this lady cooks it just like she did brings back memorys
Asrar Ahmad When the store gets liver I usually buy 2 packs and keep one in the freezer. No 2 packs are exactly the same taste or texture. I refuse to eat chicken liver at any time but beef liver is great. You just have to try for the darkest red you can get and that usually is a great tasting meal. The lighter pink is not so good.
Liver and onions is awesome. Yummy!!!😋👍
Lynda..... I found your recipe very nice..... and your heart joyful, very contagious ..... and you are a very spicy dish as well as the liver...... May God always watch over you and bless you and your family .....
As did I.
My biggest hope in life is that in the future my wife and I will have a relationship like this.
I love this comment.
Amen to that.
Oh I love liver and onions.... never tried it with some bacon..... Gonna give that a try for sure.... God Bless.
I LOVE LIVER AND ONIONS LYNDA! Yum! So delicious!!
thanks for commenting. nice to see you back to the videos. saw a few of them.
White pepper is highly under utilized. It has been my favorite spice for a while now

Who the Hell prescribes/eats raw liver?
Such a sweet couple your dinner looks amazing!!! 😘😘💕
She is too cute.
That's how my mom used to make liver & onions. Brings back great memories.
I am amazed at how many people commented favourably. I expected lots of EWWW's. but the only one was from my son. :) guess lots of people eat liver.
Might be more our generation growing up with it.
I have a beef heart in the freezer and may show how my mom cooked that. Don will say EWWW. to that one though.
i like how you keep your spices, and I like your kitchen
This is so beautiful they have an awesome relationship (True Love!!!)
+Ula Robbertze thanks for watching and commenting. we do have an awesome relationship. it works well for us. :)
You absolutely will!
Thank You Grama Lynda
For Sharing Such A Wonderful Recipe♥️
My 85 year old mother and I enjoyed your video. 🕊💙🙏🏼
That's so sweet Lynda. Kids always speak their truths. It may not be true to us but it's true to them as they know the world.
they sure do and it can be downright embarrassing at times.

Liver should be cooked at 5 minutes on each side and not turned over and only once because it's if you overcook it it gets tough...

Yummm! I love liver. I'll have to make some soon now. This looks wonderful guys and TY for sharing. We are off to the movies this morning to see Noah.
I like liver. won't say I love it though. But this was really good. None left for Lucky so he was disappointed. I gave him a small piece from my plate.
Heard a lot about Noah hope you enjoy it.
Kinda entertaining. Grandpa do you mind telling me what camera you are using?. Thanks and keep them coming.
glad you liked it.
Liz I love you lmaoo vampire food! That was funny!!
Gosh that looks good!
It really was good. Better than most times guess my body was saying thank you for the B12. I have been craving red meat for a while now and thought it was just I want to bbq again. Oh well it sure was good. Wish I could share meals sometimes.
Me too.
I enjoy watching this
hmmm I never saw smoked salt? Is it good? Think I will try that
Used to be a chef.
This is one of Ken's favorite meals, he is drooling on my computer screen.
Better get busy and cook some for him. Drool is not easy to get off key boards or screens.
Love this video, thank you Linda!
HI
LOL! These two are hilarious! SOOO great listening to them talk to eachother! Shalom to us only in Christ Yeshua.
the cartoon Doug got me liking Liver and Onions
I stand with the one son who doesn't like liver but your dish looks so yummy. Will have to make this myself with chicken or thinly sliced beef instead of the liver. Time for a grocery run.
This truly shows that cooking together can save a marriage.
Great video. Love you two.
Looks delicious..
not how l cook lambs live but yours looks really nice
"You know what they say about oysters."
😂😂😂😂😂

GOOD JOB LYNDA ONE LOVE I LOVE YOUR COOKING
i always wondered how to make liver and onions, i never had that when growing up. :)
WOW, every kid I knew would come to school once a week and complain that they had liver the night before. Not a favourite among kids. :)
gramps and grams.... you guys are awesome. and that dish looks dope. lol!!
thanks. this is kind of a nice change from the ordinary meals. :)
I love fried calf or beef liver and onions. I carmalize my onions. I don't flour mine either and just season with salt and pepper. It has to fried just right. I don't think there's any other way to cook liver that's edible.
Love liver, any kind. Too bad about the parsnips--I love those too!
I love liver but was not heart broken about the parsnips. I do have a few when I roast them but they are mainly for Don. Until I met him I had never tasted them. Mom hates them so that explains that. Thanks for watching.
I love love love you both!! lol, you both make me smile when I watch your videos. I love your husbands comments :) xo
When I was a kid we could buy liver, 4 packs for a dollar. No joke. Now it's outrageous.
Cooking that this week for sure

Lol! Smoked coffee and tide pods 😋 What the hay?! 😂
I think I would have drained the oil before adding the onions.. also, would be nice with bacon, and then add gravy to the whole dish
YES IN JAMAICA I SMOKED MY BLUE MOUNTAIN COFFEE LOOOL HER HUSBAND IS REALLLLLY SUPER COOOOOL IRIE ONELOVE AND SHE'S SOOOOOOOO SWEET
Thats very nice indeed
thanks for commenting. I am surprised at how many people like liver.
Liver always different test of other part of meat but the recipe you gave is amazing thanks again
Asrar Ahmad
When the store gets liver I usually buy 2 packs and keep one in the freezer. No 2 packs are exactly the same taste or texture. I refuse to eat chicken liver at any time but beef liver is great. You just have to try for the darkest red you can get and that usually is a great tasting meal. The lighter pink is not so good.
I miss her.
loving it :)
give it a try it really is good. :)
