That big hotel (conveniently owned by her father) where you basically do nothing, and then this random chick who hasn't really been involved at all until you fight her is standing right next to all these familiar faces like she's one of the group, while your brain's just screeching "One of these things just doesn't belong here."

guzma, the recycling Father and Son duo that already exist right there at the plant, the dragon trial isnt MEANT to have a captain, its a harsh area of the region that the territorial regional dragons have made their home and your challenge its self it to brave the area and make it out, if you can tame the dragons and make it out unharmed you pass.
I like the idea of a totem Golisopod. Even if you only have to get it below half health to win, I could see it being an interesting nuzlocke obstacle with first impression that early in the game

If Kahili was a Trial Captain, I imagine you would have had to use a golf club and to strike some berries into a Toucannon nest, adjusting for gusts of wind made by Trombeak.
fun fact: Exeggutor island used to be a trial site. considering Alolan Exeggutor's dgrass typing, plus the exeggcute and tropius that can be found there (along with serperior with an island scan), it's possible this used to be a grass type trial. alternatively, it could have been a dragon trial due to Alolan Exeggutor's dragon type.
Love this series. I actually had a theory about the Haina Desert and Faba. Faba is a psychic specialist that works at Aether. As trial captains have to be under 20 and Faba is obviously older I had a theory that before joining Aether he was the psychic trial captain.
When I replayed both Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon this year I did one as a Mono-Psychic and Mono-Ice type teams respectively. Since I felt like Guzma, Plumeria, and Ryuki took the roles of representing the other three types.

I would count Guzma, Pulmeria, and Faba as trail captains. I mean, Pulmeria gives you the Poison Z crystal in the games afterall. Also, i feel like the ice totem pokemon should be Sandslash since that was the totem pokemon in the Anime. Then again Lillie was a second fairy user in USUM, but that made me throrized that either she or Mina (young) is the fairy user of Kanto depending on which one stays in Alola.
The types that are not in Galar: Bug Normal Electric Flying Ground In your video about the Galar gyms you could also add Dark Poison Psychic Steel Piers says he and Ex gym leader so take that as you will Avery's league card says he comes from a long line of psychic gym leaders so there have been some. I feel like bug shouldn't have one because guzma is a bug specialist and you get that in the quest you do to get that yungoos from guzma and I feel like thats a good way of getting it since thats the whole part of the game about guzma and that makes up for the trial

You could do a solid electric trainer with Boltund, Pichiruin, Toxitricy, both Dracozolt and Arcozolt and the trainer secret weapon regieleki. The trainer name is Monty and he is a famous comedian in the galar region but he is a bit loony though.
It would be cool if the bug type trail captain fight had the gilosopod on half HP, it would (as far as i know) be the first time you would ever start a fight against a weakened pokemon. (Possible exception being roaming pokemon who keep damage across fights)

If one uses Ryuki as the Dragon captain, Guzma and Plumeria should be made trial captains, sort of as a way of them being redeemed after they disbanded Team Skull after the events of the games, plus they deserve it for being such great characters

Why do you have every trial set up as "fight the totem, then fight the trial captain"? That literally doesn't happen once in the games. Aside from Mina in USUM, you don't even fight the Trial Captains as part of their trial. And even then, you fight her (and several other Kahunas/Trial Captains) before Totem Ribombee.

Well by that logic Faba should count for Psychic...The whole reason Guzma started Team Skull was because he never made it as a trial challenger, so to promote him to Captain anyway would be a betrayal of not only his character but the region's traditions.
I know it's the real obvious answer and there's that stupid twenty year old rule, But I think that Guzma and Plumeria would have been really good for Poison and Bug. I'm a big fan of Gen 7, espically Team Skull, so I would make them captains. It also fits with lore of Team Skull.

It’s been stated in the games that before the league was built that on top of the mountain there was a spot to battle all 4 Kahunas in a row.
You have to take into account that trial captains a forced to retire when they turn 20, so there can't be any old ladies or middle aged men here.
