Wow! Beautiful work! Yes, oil can be painted over acrylic when it's dry. But acrylic over oil is not a good idea. Oil dries waterproof and acrylic can't stick to it. In case anyone was wondering. 🙃

I think what a lot of non-artists think is that it’s easy for us to paint such things, when in reality, it’s a LOT of time and effort, with many mistakes and agonizing doubt of whether it’ll even turn out the way we envisioned. I’m glad you showed the reality of works like this. And bravo! Because it turned out gorgeous! ❤

Looks amazing. I used to paint houses we were always told you can paint oil on acrylic but not the other way around....I have never painted with oil paints only acrylic and water color in art., I never heard of doing this. Why did you do it this way? Just curious.Lovely painting.

By far my favorite you've done. I love seeing a different animal than your normal big cat or elephant. I'd really like to see you do some more underwater creatures like manatees, whales, octopus, sharks or other African widelife like rhinos, giraffes, flamingos, crocs etc.

@@StudioWildlife i did see the turtle. It was beautiful. (I haven't seen the shark but I'm gonna check it out now) That's why I said I wanted to see more because I know you can do it. However I know what a difficult challenge it would be since your real gift is painting hair and skin texture and most underwater creatures are hairless. Maybe an otter or seal would stand up better to your style and expertise. Though I think you could do an amazing alligator/crocodile with all their skin textures. I totally understand most draw what they like or what shows off their talents the most, all while knowing these need to appeal to buyers too. I hope you don't see my comment as criticism or judgement. I think you are an amazing artist that has worked very hard to perfect their craft. I love your work either way but I'd love to see you branch out more.
I hate to be that person. But as someone who has worked in an art college, I can tell you that mixing those mediums doesn't give longevity to paintings. They aren't compatible being oil and water based, they have different hydroscopic properties. Meaning that overtime they work against each other, even with a varnish/resin, you cannot predict how they will last - or rather, how they go wrong. You are better off using a specialised medium for acrylic, which can make it perform like oil paint, which has been manufactured to be compatible and long lasting. Lovely work 😊
