Love your setup! We have some of the same, and love camping out of our Rivian. One change we made that worked really well was to flip the tent around 180 so that the taller part is towards the front. It fits the lines of the truck really well that way. We haven’t gotten the extra room to add to the ikamper but I think that’s next on our list in the spring. Enjoy your travels!
Thanks for watching! After getting a flat tire deep in a national forest, we had to flip the tent ‘backwards’ so the ladder wouldn’t extend into the road. We ended up getting a tow late at night and didn’t have to sleep in the tent that night! My wife and I definitely struggle with the tent’s weight (and dinged up the truck while flipping it that night), but we’ve got it back to the better-looking orientation now.
@@NowherePlan ah I hadn’t even thought about the issues with the ladder if we had to camp on the side of the road. Good solution to flip it around, but agreed it’s pretty heavy. Thanks for the great videos
Such a cool video. I love how everything was done so meticulously. Yall really work well together. It created a feeling about camping that’s hard to describe in words, so you left them (audibly) out altogether, and that makes it more descriptive somehow. Just bought a rivian. About clamshell roof tents. I think I’m deducing that I can’t (shouldn’t?) get a condor xl or other big tent because it won’t fit over the bed, and may feel unstable, unsafe, or awkward over the roof/hood of the cab. Am I right in thinking I need something 4.5 feet or less?
Thanks and congratulations on the Rivian! We have been loving ours. We only really considered the smaller rooftop tents because that is all we need for the two of us (both around 5' 8') and it has been very comfortable. The other R1Ts I've seen on the road with RTTs have been similar in size to ours, but we've seen larger tents on some R1Ss.
Just found your channel! This stuff is great! I noticed on your Rivian you have the 21inch wheels. Any issues getting to where you want to camp with these? Did a demo drive last week and can’t decide between the 20/all terrain and these.
Glad you’re enjoying the videos! We originally decided on the 21s to maximize range, but we really haven’t had to push it too far (and with the supercharger network that should be even less of an issue). The 21s have been more than capable enough to get where we want to go. The big downside with them is there are no other tires that fit the wheel so it can be a pain getting them replaced. If we had to choose again we may have gone with the 20s because we like the look and there are more tire options.
Love your setup and enjoyed the peacefulness of your video!! One question, I'm not seeing to many videos or people that opt for the Rivan Camp Kitchen. You guys have any opinion on that, or of heard good/bad reviews? I like the idea of an "all in one", but not seeing much reviews on it. Anyway, keep the videos coming! They're very relaxing!
I’m glad you’re enjoying our videos. The official Rivian camp kitchen is not available for purchase, and there is no clear timeframe for when it will be. There are some 3rd party options available. I’ve heard good things about the Thunderbolt Adventure Supply one. We like using propane for cooking anyway because we can also use it to fuel the heater we use in our tent. Plus we try to keep the truck powered off as long as we can while we are out. We turn it on to charge an external battery that we use to charge laptops, starlink, lights, etc…
Its nice seeing such a great video filmed in my backyard! Great job. Very peaceful.
Glad you enjoyed it. It was a great place to camp!
Beautiful place!
Very cool seeing the Rivian out on a camping adventure! Nice work on the video. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! We've been loving camping with the R1T!
Nice half blind dovetail joints, you made it look easy, I have one of those jigs and can say they are tricky to get dialed in right. True wood worker.
