A great tour, stunning ridge, brilliant views, interesting campsite, loved the photos/video of that local taken from the grass side towards the snow. Views across to Skye added to the tour. Super video. Thanks for sharing.
A great route nicely filmed and that summit camp looked amazing. Really enjoying your weekly videos which clearly take a lot of effort to produce. Thanks 🙏
Wow! I dont know how I miss this awesome video , one of your all time best ! The hike on the ridge was spectacular . And I surely was glad that you also had your all best comfort food to match this hike , the one and only pasta bolognese 🤗 Thanks for sharing !
Thanks a lot Robert! I always try to show it as realistic as it goes (e.g. GoPro on linear and not on ultra-wide) as I assume quite a few people watch the videos as a preparation for their own adventures.
@@StripeyHatGuy Being in my seventies that’s a bit beyond my capabilities now. Also that was a route I always fancied but never did.We didn’t have the camera equipment of nowadays so it’s great to see. Managed quite a few over the years, the Cuillin of course is one of the best, and An Teallach. Will continue watching your vids with interest.
Very enjoyable film, and it's nice to see your enthusiasm for the highlands. I did the forcan ridge 30 years ago and don't remember it being that steep. Must be an age thing! Very unusual water feature at the top.
Thanks a lot S Hunter. Yeah it really depends where you want to hike. Sam and me were definitely looking for the scramble so a lot of our route isn’t necessary and can be bypassed which might explain it as well. The water feature was for me the first time, haven’t had this in Scotland neither in the Alps before 🤩. ATB Stripey
Brilliant Stripey, brought back good memories when we did it. It's a great scramble. We bypassed that down climb. Looked tricky. Easier being roped up. I remember thinking the saddle would be a cracking camp spot. 👌😎
Thanks a lot Kev! Yeah it looks definitely more difficult than it is imho. The spot is just outstanding, water, view and a more or less flat camp spot + most of the time it is well sheltered from the east/northeast winds here in Scotland 🧐
Wow absolutely beautiful video and I really enjoyed watching it. Thanks for sharing this video with us. New subscriber here from #RTBL Have a wonderful weekend ☺️
Hi Serk 👋, was a kind of steep(ish) but if you wanted you could avoid nearly all scramble parts of it so you can basically pick how much scrambling you want. You can’t beat a pasta bolognaise on the hills - honestly 😉. Thanks a lot as always Serk- ATB Stripey
Nicely done👍 We took one look at that bad step and immediately said " no".. Went left around the bypass.. Other than than we thought it was a nice easy scramble ..so your brave going down it 👏👍 Great vid.. 👍
Thanks a lot! Yeah you can basically avoid all scrambling if you want on the forcan ridge - pretty nice that you can decide on the level you prefer to hike/scramble. I just loved so much the views from The Saddle with all the layers 🤩
@@StripeyHatGuy yeah its a great wee ridge.. The very first scramble can be avoided with a very steep grass slope on the right hidden around the rocks.. Walkhighlands doesn't mention this . Walkhighlands makes it out to be more difficult than it is 😅
@@itsablack1 yeah absolutely true! Sam and me thought as well that it is rather a 0.5 than a 2 said this the down climb might be a Grade 2…not sure difficult to tell with all these numbers. It is basically a hike with every so often hands on in dry conditions in my eyes.
Wonderful video Stripey, a cracking time lapse of the sunset, just stunning views mate. Thank you so much for sharing your adventure as always, Cheers Dave.
Hi Stripey👋🏻That was a wild video! Stunning views, daring scramble and it looked enjoyable beyond words! I was worried for you and Sam a few times, but how effortless you both made that look. The natural watering hole with surrounding snow, looked surreal. You picked the perfect spot to pitch your tent too. What a fantastic video, with perfect perspective of the surroundings. Just beautiful. As always, thank you sharing your amazing hikes and wild camping adventures.✌🏻👋🏻
Hi Rose 👋, Thank you very much. We were quite surprised with the amount of snow left on the top, gave it almost an alpine feel too it. As always thanks a lot for watching- ATB Stripey
Brilliant scramble. Beautiful shot when you were packing up where part of the slope was in sunlight contrasting with the grey skies above. Thank you for sharing
Fantastic again. 👍 Not a hope of getting me along that ridge! 😂. The older I get the worse I’m getting at steep drop offs for some strange reason. Never used to be a problem. 🤔. Hey ho. 👍
Fantastic stripey - I haven’t done these yet so that gave me a great insight on the scrambly bit 😁 that downclimb looks interesting! Amazing timelapse of the sunset also 😁👏 Cheers, James
Thanks a lot for the nice comment James. As you probably know you can avoid nearly all scrambling bits so I am sure you will find a route which suits your mute/day/weather. ATB Stripey
I did the ridge all the way from the top of Loch Clunie once , a hard day out that .. not sure if I could do it these days . Another great video Stripey 👍
Thanks a lot Andrew! Yeah I need to start slowly again as I am still concerned with my back a bit but hopefully it holds and my fitness level comes back for bigger tours 🤞
Hi Grant, Some parts were a bit trickier but they can be avoided if preferred - the views were just outstanding with all the layers in the scenery. The major problem with camping in the cloud is always that it gets wet in the tent, particular with a single wall tent. If we would have camped another day it would have been a good idea to dry our stuff proper out for an hour or so. Thanks a lot for watching! ATB Stripey
Thanks a lot Tina! Difficult to say as I haven’t done Angle’s Landing and in Scotland we do not have Via Ferrata (ok we have one…) or chains in the hills, but one thing is for sure - here are definitely less people 😂
Now this looks a quality day out Stripey, certainly a fair weather scramble though. How long was the walk in total, without the overnight accommodation 😉
Hi Alistair, difficult to say with all the filming etc. I would say that it is good manageable within 6 hours. I tracked only down from the camp spot which was like 1 hour 38 min. to the car.
Just found this channel and love it, have you ever done (or plan to do) stuff in the South Downs? It’s not the most interesting of the national parks here but would be nice to see. Keep it up
@@StripeyHatGuy walking the South Downs way is an idea, takes you through the park. Checking out Rye, Beachy Head, and the windmills (Halnaker, Jack and Jill, and others) across the park is what I’d recommend
