According to the koran we were all created from a blood clot [congealed blood].
Chapter 96 of the koran is titled "The Blood Clot".
I'd dare say that the science of the koran is lacking. 😁

I’ve always had very painful period pains growing up and sometimes would go for months without getting on my periods and when I finally did I would feel like I am giving birth after pushing out a clot out of my vagina. This year January I had the worst experience, I pushed out two huge blood clots which were the size of my hands. I couldn’t walk or anything, all I did was vomit but after pushing the last clot it was as if I never had pain on my abdomen and my period pains ever since have been mild. I hate blood clots!😭💔

I consider myself to be very lucky. In 02 or 03 I had pain behind my knee. I had an ultrasound on a Wednesday, on Thursday I was told that it was a Baker's Cyst. Fast forward to the following Monday, I was sitting at at my desk at work, and all of a sudden I got this sharp stabbing pain in my chest when I inhaled. I was short of breath. I could only inhale very shallow breaths. A co-worker drove me to the ER, I thought that was gas pains and wanted to leave. The hospital made me stay. My entire family showed up at the hospital. I tried again to leave, thinking it was gas pains. I ended up having 2 PE's, and that Baker's Cyst was a large DVT. I was getting Heparin through an IV, and Coumadin orally. I was in the hospital for a week. I didn't realize the danger that I was in until months later when I actually read up on Pulmonary Embolisms. I used to be afraid of needles, but after having blood drawn on the hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, etc., then going daily before work...weekly, bi-weekly....Needles don't scare me anymore. I was prescribed Warfarin, and was forbidden from using a razor for shaving. I was putting out Rat Poison in my garage and was reading the ingredient list. Warfarin was the main ingredient. Sorry for the long post, just my story. I have a MI (heart attack) story too, but that's for another day. I know that I am one of the luckiest people on earth. Folks, live every day as if it were your last. I speak from experience.

Over 10 years ago, I had a pain in my chest that felt like someone was twisting a fish hook right behind my left nipple. Went to my clinic and found out I had multiple blood clots on both my lungs.
Somehow, the doc I saw did not do a damn thing, not even tell me to take an aspirin... so when I told a friend about it, she got this look on her face and she told me to go in ASAP and get a new doctor.
    I did.
Saw a new doc and was giving myself sub-q shots that afternoon and immediately started on Coumadin. I have to take it every day for the rest of my life.
I am a very healthy bicyclist, and was pretty shocked about the clots... but was told that anyone from a ballerina to a truck driver can get clots, there is just no telling.

Aneurysms and blood clots are the scariest medical emergencies to me. A girl I went to high school with died suddenly of a pulmonary embolism when she was only 28. I just got out of the hospital due to a massive pulmonary embolism in my right lung. I dealt with the pain for 1 day until it got so excruciating I couldn't stand it and went to the ER. They said if I would've waited just another hour I would've died. It was so big it was effecting my heart rate and causing it to drop down into the low 30s when I would sleep. I had to have an emergency pulmonary angiogram which is where they insert a catheter into your femoral artery and feed it all the way to your heart and lungs to suck the clot out, all while you are completely awake, slightly sedated with fentanyl. I could literally feel them digging around in my chest, by far the weirdest/painful feeling ever.

I had a pulmonary embolism back in 2012. Made it to the ER just in time. I can only describe it as having flu symptoms, but only when on my feet. When I laid down, I felt fine. But if I had to use the restroom, it would feel like I ran a marathon. At that time, I was smoking a pack of cigarettes a day and was 340-lbs, give or take, at 6'-3" living a sedentary lifestyle. Now, I'm at a healthy weight and body composition (13% BF), and eat a diet of whole foods and a non-smoker. My quality of life has never been better.

10 days after surgery on my leg I woke up suddenly that night with excruciating chest pain and could not breathe. I thought it was a heart attack but it was bilateral pulmonary emboli, multiple small clots in both lungs, unbelievably sore. I had a DVT a few years back at the age of 21. My entire leg from foot to hip was incredibly swollen and painful. It easily doubled in size. By far the most pain I've ever felt. No amount of pain medication would help at all. Got treated with anti coagulants and stayed in hospital for 2 days. They found out I had a copy of the Leiden V mutation. And other than the fact that I can never use certain birth control types ever again, 3 years later it's all good. But it's definitely scary to think how bad it could have been if it wasn't caught when it was. I was actually supposed to be on a 12+ hour plane school trip the day after I got admitted to hospital. Felt like I dodged a bullet there.

Seven years ago I had a massive bilateral pulmonary embolism that came without warning. I went to bed fine and woke up and my heart was racing. I had to fight to keep from blacking out. I honestly believed that was the day I would die. The right side of my heart is damaged from the pressure of the clots. Had the clots been just a few mm larger there would have been complete blockage of the pulmonary artery. I had a second pulmonary embolism again without warning a year after that. My left leg is permanently damaged from the multiple blood clots. I am on warfarin.

    Good way:
    Hemostasis:
Occurs during injury to arrest the excess loss of blood.
Blood contains blood platelets, thrombin proteins, fibrinogen. Once blood platelets gets struck, thrombin proteins react with fibrinogen to create fibrin which creates mesh on blood platelets which is actually blood clot in a natural way. This is called as fibrin mesh clot.
    Bad way:
Mural Thrombosis, Embolism -- occurs at either veins or aorta.
Thrombosis - blood clotting without bleeding.
Smoking, birth control to avoid pregnancy, prolonged immobility causes blood clots to happen.
Types of Thrombus - Mural thrombus, Occlusive thrombus ( blood clots at heart )
    Mural thrombus:
clots happens at the inside the wall of aorta , inside the chambers of heart.Mural thrombus can either be detached or stay that way forever.
    Occlusive thrombus:
obstruction, blocking blood flow. Happens because of the prolonged immobility. Whenever natural blood flow is getting obstructed because of smaller blood vessel, it leads to occlusive thrombus. It can also happen when mural thrombus gets detached from heart and gets settled in leading blood vessels from heart which now becomes occlusive thrombus.
    Embolus:
Whenever blood clots gets detached and travels through blood stream. Anything that is part of blood which obstructs natural blood flow is known as emboli. Ex: Fat, amniotic fluid, air in blood are the various emboli which causes blood clots. Area where blood flow is restricted because of emboli is known as embolism.
    Embolism :
Venous Thrombo Embolism, Arterial Thrombosis Embolism.
Blood clots also happens at blood capillaries which is micro clots.
    Deep Vein Thrombosis:
Blood clots that happens at the deeper blood veins is known deep vein thrombosis. Mostly happens at the pelvis area/legs in the deeper blood veins that is present at the center inner portion of thigh region. It can also happen in arms. Symptoms: pain, swellings, pain can increase when you put more weight.
If blood clots get detached from this region, clot travels towards heart which sets up pulmonary embolism. Sudden obstruction/occlusion of blood in pulmonary artery happens which goes back to heart. Returning blood from various body parts enters to heart through right ventricle which then flows to lungs.
Pulmonary Artery/Vein vs Heart Artery Vein
Pulmonary artery brings deoxygenated blood from heart to lungs, pulmonary vein - takes oxygenated blood away from lungs to heart. In terms of heart, artery - takes blood away from heart, vein - takes blood to heart.
    Pulmonary Embolism
If blood clot happens at either of pulmonary artery or vein, this leads to lungs deprived of blood causing lungs not to work efficiently in oxygenating the blood. Chest pain and shortness of breath are the symptoms of pulmonary embolism. Because of inefficient work of lungs, heart get less amount of blood which in turn tries hard to pump more blood out of heart which ultimately leads to cardiac arrest/stress/strain on heart. Severe case of pulmonary embolism leads to cardiac arrest.
    Deep Artery Thrombosis:
Blood clot happens at the deep arteries is known deep artery thrombosis. This causes damage to brain, ultimately stroke. Aorta from heart branches out to external or internal carotid artery which supplies blood to brain.
If Mural Thrombus gets detached from inner walls of aorta or inner chambers of heart, and gets settled in either carotid artery or cerebral arteries which causes stroke which is basically lack of blood, oxygen to brain tissues. If it is smaller thrombus, it can get into meningeal system causing serious damage to life.
    Treatment:
Anticoagulants - commonly known as blood thinner - Will not break the existing blood clots but prevents more blood clot to happen.
Surgical treatment to remove blood clots in lungs is not recommended now-a-days. But it is commonly used to remove clots in arms and legs.

My dad died because of Pulmonary embolism when I was 4 years old, he was working in China as a businessman for his company from Germany, it all first began when he fell asleep on the sofa with the AC blowing on his legs for hours, when he woke up he had intense pain and my mom brought him to the hospital where the doctors didn't know what was going on and said that they'll examine him the next day, my mom was worried because in China the hospitals differ vastly on quality, the hospitals that most people go to are mostly with bad/fake doctors that's also overpopulated, and this is one of them, because it was the nearest hospital my mom decided that it's better not to transfer to a better private hospital.
But the next day it was too late, my dad had died in the middle of the night because the blood clot had reached his lungs, my mom even saw the doctors reading a thick book on what to do because the doctor seem to have no idea on what's going on even though they could've easily saved my dad.
My mom wanted to file a lawsuit but decided it wasn't worth it, at most she'll get some compensation but it won't bring back my dad.
I hate Chinese hospitals where it's mostly filled with unworthy, uneducated and corrupt staff members.

See a doctor if you experience unexpected leg pain (with or without swelling). In 1965 my father and I were in a traffic accident which broke his jaw and left hip. He made it through the surgeries just fine but back then they didn't make you get up and move around like today. 10 days after the traffic incident a blood clot came from his hip which was fatal. I know all too well blood clots can be extremely dangerous. As for me, I had a broken collar bone and took out the windshield with the side of my head.

OMG. Sorry to hear that your dad developed a blood clot and passed away. I had a cousin who was hit hard in her pelvic area from a horse trailer hitch. She was fine after a couple weeks of feeling very sore there. Then one day soon after the incident she was home making dinner and went to take a bath while the food baked in the oven. She was found dead by her husband when he got home after work. It seems the hot bath she was sitting it had loosened a blood clot caused by being hit by the horse trailer a couple weeks before. She was a healthy 33 year old woman.

I had a blood clot in my arm after surgery. The IV caused an inflammation in my deep veins, what has triggerd a trombosis, not even mentioning the massive swelling in my arm. The blood thinners was a hell and my hormones was upset,. I had a really heavy period for 3 weeks and was running low on iron because of it.
Trombosis can happen everywhere at any given time..

I survived a PE without any medical assistance. My doctor said later that I was very lucky and that it must've been very small. The pain on my chest was a crushing pain, every small breath of air I pushed in was like 1000 knives. It was probably a small cloth dislodged from a meniscus repair surgery. This video is very educational, thanks.

I loved this video so much. In July of 2018 I survived a Saddle PE. I was in a room for observation my husband and Mom were there when the ER Dr. came in and said Don"t move! The last test they did was an Abd CT. It showed that part of the masive clot I had in my leg had broken free to create the Saddle PE, it was explained much later that this is usually found when an autopsyis performed. I spent 13 days in the hospital, I also had Addison's Disease that had not been diagnosed at that time. Your explanation was so clear and understandable. Thank you!

Been two years since my PE (right lower lobe) and DVT(left calf). Scary thing is I had none of the classic symptoms. My symptoms were mild cramping in my legs and a pain in my back which felt like a pulled muscle. What prompted me to go to urgent care was that my heart rate would be sky high when I walked around. I’m now on warfarin for life. They think it might have been the birth control but of course they are not certain even after being tested for every genetic condition. For everyone on anticoagulant carry something that says what anticoagulant you’re on just in case something happens and you can’t verbally communicate.

I collapsed in a hospital hallway due to a pulmonary embolism(PE). I had an ACL reconstruction a week prior due to a knee hyperextension while playing in a college basketball game (Div 1 🙂). I was at the hospital getting my stitches removed when I complained of various symptoms, including darkness under my eyes. I was at the imaging department for a chest xray when I had collapsed.
I spent a week in the hospital and at first they stated my PE was simply due to my ACL reconstruction... but that changed a over the course of the week. Near the end of my stay in hospital, I underwent another scan of my lungs to check the clots. About 4 hours later I had about 5 doctors come in to my room. They seemed to be a little excited and suprised. They mentioned to me how the scan accidentally caught a portion of my adrenal glands and that they noticed they were both enlarged. They essentially found 2 pheochromocytomas. "Pheos" are tumors in adrenal glands that produce excessive adrenaline. After some testing it was found I was producing ~40x more adrenaline (epinephrine) than most people. It was found these tumors were malignant, and the cancer had spread to my thyroid. It was aslo found I have a condition called multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2. A year after undergoing a bilateral adrenalectomy and a thyroidectecomy, I was found to have a rare blood condition called polycythemia vera (PV). I now take lifelong steroids to replace the hormones I'm missing, as well as phlebotomies every two weeks to remove excess blood that can cause thick blood and clots from forming. I still workout, run, eat healthy and play basketball. That's my story. 🙂
There's a lot more to the story... but this is the extremely quick version. I left out the heart attacks and other events.

It was by far the worst thing I have ever experienced, the pain and horror of gasping for literally every breath is indescribable. Thankfully I was able to get to the hospital quickly and the doctors figured it out quickly, I had a scan that showed multiple blood clots in my right lung, took a long time to recover. Please be careful if you are not moving for an extended amount of time because trust me you do not want to go through this.

My dad had [possibly- more likely two strokes] but definitely one major stroke in 2019- very close to when the [Plan]demic struck. He was totally paralyzed and needed a tracheotomy. He also contracted pneumonia while he was in the hospital. He could hardly whisper to get any message across to people. What actually took his life afterward- was an embolism in his lung. It still breaks my heart to know all this happened to him just before his death. Thank you very much for explaining this topic.

But pregnancy increases your risk of blood clotting. So when I get pregnant I have to inject myself with lovanox and take other medications to prevent miscarriage. Even those don’t work. After about 6 miscarriages I just stopped trying. 😒

I was coughing up multiple blood clots about 2 weeks ago, which was 6 days after I had a tonsillectomy. They are big blobs of blood and are actually so cool, like a super thick blob (the mesh clot). I like learning about the body and I wish I had more time to dissect and examine the clots, but I had to get to the ER to get an emergency surgery in the middle of the night to cauterize my throat. This video helps me understand how my body was trying to save me from bleeding to death. However, I was wondering why the blood clots couldn't seal up my throat wound and I had be recauterized through surgery? Is it because you can't apply pressure to the wound like you could with a cut on your arm or leg? Also, I stopped bleeding while I drove 30 minutes to the ER. Then I started coughing up more blood clots again when I got there! I guess more clots were forming while I was driving!
