Anyone who is great at something had better hope they failed at least 800 times before they start getting that good.
I guess what I mean is, whatever your passion is (for me, it's drawing, painting, sculpting) you had better put in 800 days, nights, before you start even claiming any sort of skill at all. Great things take time. Anyone the equivalent worth of their true greatness, will tell you that 800 is nothing. Nothing.
If you lose count, then you're hopefully up there somewhere among the greatest, or at the very least, proud of yourself. I wish that everyone could become the greatest in something. Anything at all.
Believe in yourself, above all else. And maybe don't worry about the count. Just do it every muffler chuckin' day! (lol...muffler chuckin' sounds like anal...yikes! I take it back!) Just work hard every day!

Muay Thai is so fkn brutal, it's incredible that these guys can withstand such abuse. I did muay thai a while ago and was practicing leg kicks with my partner with the thai pads on my legs, I came home and my legs were yellow and bruised up the next morning. And that was with the thai pads covering my legs, absolutely brutal.

That's why most of the time their careers are over in their mid 20s, if they don't off to fight foreigners in some hybrid show like k-1 or now this "thai fights". Many of the greats became stadium champion (which I hold in higher regard than "world champion" titles, if it's rajadamnern or lumpinee stadium.. maybe even omnoi at some point) at age 16.
They've been fighting since they were children, taking so much abuse, that their bodies are shot by then.
I laugh at Joe Rogan talking about "crisp muay thai" in the UFC. It's a sad joke, American Muay Thai in general is. Let alone the shit they show in the UFC. They'd get blasted out by any better European fighter in a pure Muay Thai fight, let alone by top tier Thai opposition.

Muay Boran more on self defense, so some technique can't implemented on sport fight. Basically is martial arts to protect their emperor, but both Muay Boran and Muay Thai is scary with that kind of agility.

About clinching taking over Muay Thai. I believe Saenchai or Samart may have said this change was due to gamblers. The gamblers couldn't really "see" the beauty and technical aspects of Muay Thai but clinching was easier for them to grasp. These gamblers love cock fighting and even fighting beetles.
So this change was because of gamblers.

Damien is very well known in Thailand. People ask how Thai fighters have so much fights? No amateur fights, everyone starts pro, at 10-12 years old. 3 fights in one day, 3 fights in one week, 5-6 fights in one month is very normal. But not everyone is lucky ,many suffers at teenage age, concussions, small money, 3 fights one week, total money 1500baht ($50+-)

@@rffg781 Different system now,but still no headgear for kids. I quit at 16 in 2004,make about 30 fights. Quit to finished school. No fights at all after, now 33 years old . Many friends when they were 12 years old had concussions, also bad fingers, almost like deformed, from punching elbows in fights

Again i love doing muay thai for fun, just hope there's more support for people with head injuries coz that is so long term...

One time very powerful fighter quit Thai fight, he go to Europe country, because no fighter to compete him, betting gangster stop him, Thai fighter also scared & respect him. Smart guy, speak English, speak Italian. For me he is the wisest champion. Not many TH-cam video, Kaopon Lek is his name. Left kicker but right hand is stronger than left.

Due to modern rules and technics as time evolves, it'd be a pity for old school tactics to die with them.
