    I forgot a vital bit of information. X and S stamps near the "Made in France" Stamp both signify Sale items. typically S will mean public sale but not always the case for bags where either X or S can be stamped. Sometimes you will see numbers near either the X or S stamp when its on bags and thats to signify the employee it was sold to.

  • @socobbb

    The cracks can be prevented by moisturizing the leather. I know hermes is greedy by saying they won't spa any bag that has been treated, by I thinks that's more for painting treatments, or other repairs. If you buy a lesthe moisturizing balm, there is no way they can tell. The leather will just remain in prestine conditions.

    • @Purseonfleek
      @Purseonfleek  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Agree with you! Leather conditioner cannot be detected it wears off as well as it's designed to be absorbed by the leather it's not a polish by any means.

    • @Purseonfleek
      @Purseonfleek  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! I have read people who have luckily been able to get their staff S stamp bags spa'ed even though they weren't the original owner but I definitely feel it's dependent on your relationship with the store. I think for people who never shop at the store and rock up with a staff sale bag and no proof it was supposed to be sold to them more likely to get declined 🧐.

    • @keodi1
      @keodi1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Purseonfleek Good point! I do think it's dependent on the store and one's relationship with the SA. I love your videos very helpful!

  • @lesliecraven3087
    @lesliecraven3087 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I clicked on this right away thank you this is great information and I learned a lot. Do you think that having your bag retouched or spaed lowers the value? If you buy a bag on the pre-loved market do you preferred to have it untouched so you can make the decision whether to send it to the spa or not?

    • @Purseonfleek
      @Purseonfleek  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think it very much depends on the retouch job. If it's been spa'ed but it's now actually made the bag look fantastic almost like a new bag again then that would help with the value than selling it beat up. But if the retouch job looks poorly done etc as though it wasn't done by an experienced craftsperson then that could affect value. Third party repairers can do the same work as Hermes artisans however there are some that obviously may not be as good

  • @lolipena8051
    @lolipena8051 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you so much for your video. Super informative. Question what about monogram/initials? Should you buy it? Should you initial your bag ever in your opinion? Can they be removed? Can other letters be added? I take it up to a max of 3.

    • @Purseonfleek
      @Purseonfleek  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Personally if you decide to initial I feel like better to do the clochette (cover that goes over the keys for a Birkin or Kelly).
      Because if in the event U ever need to sell the bag any bag with monogram really decreases the value quite drastically. It's not something I would do, and it's impossible to remove the initials completely as it creates an impression in the leather

    • @lolipena8051
      @lolipena8051 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Purseonfleek thank you so much for answering. I’m looking into a preloved b40 and it currently has my hubby’s initials. Thought it would be cute. Chanel is a quilted leather so any insert that isn't too firm will be fine. There is a store on IG that bought straps from I'll reveal soon as the quality was amazing but they do bag inserts too that could be worth a try for chanel..they are called: innerbagshop

    I would love your expertise on something. I purchased a preloved Birkin in the Barenia Faubourg leather. It's gorgeous and relatively new--only about a year old. However, the previous owner must have beaten it to death. Corners are a little faded and there is a minor darkened smudge on the front and back. Also, there are a couple of teeny black dots on one of the corners. Do you think the spa can repair those issues on this type of leather? I'm still within the return period, but I hate to part with this one. It's really gorgeous, the price was palatable and the marks I'm describing are really only visible to us crazy bag ladies. I would love your opinion! Thank you so much!!!!

    • @Purseonfleek
      @Purseonfleek  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fading can be fixed definitely they will condition and treat to bring life back to the leather. The marks and smudge however won't be so easily fixed Barenia soaks up oil/stains etc .

    Can you still get a bag repaired if you’re blacklisted from buying? I’m genuinely asking not being snooty. Since you said you sent it to leather surgeons, I wasn’t sure if at this time you had that whole issue with them yet and why you’d choose to send it to them versus directly to Hermes since they won’t touch it once it’s been fixed by a third party. Even if to save money, to me it’s not worth it since I feel like “what if it needs a bigger job that only they can do now I’m screwed all because I wanted to go down a more economic route”

    • @Purseonfleek
      @Purseonfleek  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes per consumer guarantee in australia they are not allowed To refuse repairs . Unless you use a dodgy third party repairer or replace aftermarket hardware chances are Hermes wouldn't know because they aren't tracked by serial number. This is just my opinion

    Off topic a bit but I have a preloved B35. My SA was able to get me a K32, but told me if I saw a B35 in a color and leather I liked to go for it because she was still looking. I’m sure she didn’t mean preloved but it was what I wanted. I got it 7 months or more later. Now the question, it would not be my intent to rub anything in anyone’s nose but I I paid good money, I love her...should I be concerned about taking her shopping with me if I decide to stop by Hermes? I have no intention of lying and it’s no slight meant for her. We only have one store where I live. What do people do if they take a preloved bag into a store? I mean the SA’s can look you up in their system. You can always say you purchased in another country but why? Partially rhetorical question😉

    • @Purseonfleek

      When I first went to store I went with my b30 which was bought Preloved from Japan. Because it was a Birkin ofc she asked where I got it from because I said when I arrived I'm new to shopping at the store and only bought online so far. I told her I got it Preloved from Japan. There was no funny looks she responded with oh yes Japan is very well known for authentic preowned luxury bags.
