- Hello. I thought I would share my story on what NOT to do.I am also sharing my experience at the Flagship Store in Paris. I shopped at the Paris store, the Monaco store, the London store, and the Venice store. When all was said and done I ended up with a FAKE Birkin!!

I am not going to BEG someone to sell me a $12000 handbag. They should be begging me. The handbags are nice but I’d rather purchase my handbags some place where I’m appreciated.
they really aren't that nice. Women have convinced themselves that they are nice because they are so expensive and hard to get. It's a status symbol. Their bags look like briefcases. They aren't pretty in the least.
I refuse to buy from any company whose protocols for selling consist of making potential customers feel like they are not good enough to own their products. Gross.
I'm with you. It makes me want to buy the fake ones just to spite them!
It really depends on the sale associate/store you’re dealing with. Some sa’s want to make sure they are selling the bag to someone who knows and appreciates the history of Hermes( hence why they take the leather, color, size, hardware etc.). Some are truthful and let you know they don’t have any bags that meet your qualifications but will call you when they do. The best way to score a bag is to be open with what you want/know the history of the brand and convey that in your meeting. These Bags are so rare, and go up in value and are a true investment for a reason, if just anyone could buy them they wouldn’t be.
i tried that in my appointment...didnt work...was studying like the colour name, leather, style the whole night and they assumed i was a reseller right off the bat.

There is marketing strategy involved here, Hermes fiercely control their brand reputation and product exclusivity.
Why would you endure such humiliation for a handbag? Spend your money on a great piece of unique jewellery instead. Also, $5600 for a pre loved Hermes is far too inexpensive.
What colour are you looking for? I have a 35cm with PH. Purchased Mar 2017 at FSH in Trench before they changed the policy to online. Never used, willing to sell. Has all papers, raincoat etc (no box) had to leave in Paris. Also purchased two twillys...
They give that story to everyone. They have them and choose who they want to sell them to. It’s awful
I do not own a Hermes Bag - but like you Ive seen them on ladies that I knew was real. I think its so crazy how they treat clients and you are not the first video Ive watched with this type of sales associate experience. So with that said, I have bought Fendi, and Dior in boutiques and found the experience to be almost a giddy, fun filled day. The associates welcomed me, showed me all the bags I wanted to see and when finished, packed up my beautiful bag and offered me champagne (Dior, France). I was at the Paris Airport after a very long haul flight, waited for the store to open and convinced my husband that I just HAD to see the bags close up and not on a video. He surprised me and bought me a bag! The sales associate saw us come in looking like lost pups, wearing long haul comfy clothes and a million travel things as we were returning home. I never felt so special buying a handbag. Anyway, if you are willing to spend what amounts to 3 of my Dior bags maybe 4. You should be treated like a Queen. If Hermes wants to give their excellent customers that something extra, invite them into a special lounge area for the loyal and frequent customers - but don't make someone who is buying a bag of a lifetime feel like they are just not worthy. My 2 cents.
Good advice. I think my new goal is a Lady Dior. About 5 years ago I saw a display at Harrods on the history of the bag. Plus I also have heard that they have great customer service. What color and bag did you get?

I am a die hard HUGE Louis Vuitton LoVer! I have never know of this with Hermes! How terrible!!! This story make me KNOWWWWWWW i will NEVER try to have an Hermes. They obviously don't need us. I think we should say WE DONT NEED THEM! IThis is controlled by supply and demand! Horrible

Renee Perry lol, me too. Louis Vuitton is just so beautiful I can’t stop collecting them. 💐🌸💐 Hermes bags are actually ugly, quite plain and bulky... Prada has lovely handbags though.

The Hermes experience is weird. If you have the money, why are they so picky? I'd rather have Chanel or another luxury brand for less than a Birkin. I've also heard they are heavy. Kelly's seem more practical because they have a strap.
I'd give it to a thrift store if I were you but with the understanding that they know it's fake. I'm so glad you got your money back. That would be so stressful.

Kelly is tricky to open, lady dior as well. Birkin is most practical to get into. Something to consider. Lady Dior though is the lightest of the bunch, i really hate the opening though. All three are gorgeous but nothing compares to Hermes quality...

Lady Dior beats Hermes by a looong shot. They are absolutely stunning. Especially the black with gold hardware.

That’s just some bull crap, I don’t understand why people fall for this tactic.... I’m sure there are people out there that would spend that much on a bag, but let’s get realistic, Hermès is using a classic, psychological/mental game.... They make it difficult and hard to get for some, because that whole concept of “wanting something that you can’t have” idea, and sadly there are people out there that honestly don’t care about the bag itself, or the experience..... they just want it because they can type thing.... anyway I could go on and on..., but I get the whole “experience” thing, and yes IF you get one, then u have a good story, but think about what is really happening, they are “playing” people..... and it’s also a form of discrimination, and as much as people whine and complain about being discriminated against, why would people knowingly put yourself in that situation, and even if it goes well, it’s still representing a brand/company/etc... that manipulates people into spending that on a bag, and think about the people that have stories like this one.... it’s just not nice, in my opinion, and you shouldn’t have to be a “certain criteria” to get chosen.... just MY opinion!
Yeah after I heard a handful of stories I was just like... oh this is all B.S. psychology tricks/mind games. It was so obvious and the people telling the story just sound like they believe everything they were told.
Check the stitches as well, for the real Hermes bag, because it is made by hand, all stitches with angles, not straight. The straight stitches normally is made by machine.
To be honest I rather spend the money on traveling instead of this bag but I guess for a 20 year anniversary that would be a very nice gift but I’m so sorry for your experience that really turns me off
Julie, don’t give up your dream - if it still IS your dream to own one, that is! There are good consignment stores that sell the real thing or can source you the bag you want and they have very skilled authenticators so you can be sure you’ve bought the real thing. Wishing you better luck and blessings and hope you soon have your own Birkin to show us. Also, if getting a bag from the store is what matters, you could try Chanel or Louis Vuitton if you don’t have to have a Birkin or Dior. xo
Did u purchase via eBay and paid via PayPal? I purchased one via auction and since I reside overseas - in Singapore. I’m afraid that the time lead to reach me will be over the 14 day period and I won’t even have time to authenticate it

So basically what you’re saying is the Hermès salesperson at the flagship store didn’t think you looked wealthy enough to buy or you weren’t rich looking enough to justify carrying their brand. What a load of crap! That’s such a sad way to do business. Most very wealthy people really don’t look that wealthy....think about it. I’ll never even consider a Hermès bag again after this. 🖕🏻Hermès!

Julie Sorbello that’s very strange and infuriating because I went into the Goyard flagship store in Paris and never was treated so disrespectfully as Hermès treated you. Quit the contrary, they were extremely nice and courteous. I purchased a bag and wallet. I’m so sorry that you were treated that way in Hermès. After all we all are just humans.....regardless of our portfolio. I just have to 🤷🏼♀️

bo, you legit have to spend a bunch of money at a hermes store before they will offer you a birkin. They dont commercially make birkins they are made by request.
This is the second story I have heard on Hermes bags where the protocol is so lucrative. It reminds me a little of those restaurants where the wait staff are very rude to the customers on purpose as a novelty. I just can't bring myself to adopt that into my mantra for service. I have so many responsibilities to other people that when I want to treat myself I want luxury but I want it in service as well. I thought I might enjoy the prestige of owning a Birkin or Kelly but I am seriously rethinking my priorities after hearing these stories. Thank you for opening up so candidly and sharing your experience. It is helping people to make best decisions for themselves.

Unfortunately it seems many “upscale” brands are like this, I experienced the same but at a Louis Vuitton store in Paris... I ended up getting the bag I wanted (speedy 30 Ebene) in Netherlands luckily but I did compromise in color getting Azur instead. Paris sadly wasn’t my best experience but I probably had very high expectations since I wanted to go my whole life, the people weren’t as friendly as I expected.

Hi Darling, I feel you because I went through exactly the same experience, actually worse. I almost bought one from Vestaire collective, and for a reseller, they are the one I would recommend. However, I had a similar experience as you on ebay. When I realized it was a fake, I cancelled the order. But finally I got my dream bag, and I am sure you will get it too. If you are interested, I put my experience on my channel. In the end I got it, and I feel you, but don't give up, you can get it too. Work with your SA, if they want, they have a lot of power to sell it to you. xo
Hi. I am not familiar with that website. I only experienced Vestaire Collective and their customer service was great and they stand by their product. The only thing is you want to buy a product from the US otherwise if they ship it from Europe, they charge the custom's tax. Good luck, I am sure you will get it eventually. xo
Sabrina Shekofteh keep in mind a lot of these reselling sites like the real real, and vestaire have been exposed for selling fake designer bags and clothing. Diet Prada exposed them.

I have a suggestion for you. So being that this bag issue caused so much discord and stress, donate it to someone who hasn't got money to buy any bag at all, and would bring great joy to them, real or not, they would feel very blessed, and so would you. a happy ending to the whole thing

I understand loving luxury. I too am an addict! With that being said, I agree Maya Nair! THEY should be begging us to buy a $12,000 purse instead of discriminating! For me personally I limit my luxury to Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and YSL which are much more affordable! With all the hungry kids on this planet, I just can’t see making such an extravagant purchase!

Never trust EBAY for such an expensive handbag omg! I don’t care what the feedback is NO WAY. Only Hermès stores; or highly reputable resellers.

So sorry this happened to you Julie. Very glad you got your money back but, still your heart was broken! Clearly a fake just by seeing the "leather" in the video. I truly hope you find a Birkin on your next trip! Don't get frustrated and give up, they are so worth the wait!

I just think that you have a REAL Birkin, and just realize that it IS JUST A BAG, that costs more than it should... and anyway ... You have a good leather bag, so just use it like a normal person would do... You don't have a BRAND stamp on your forehead and I believe that you considere yourself a good person... The BRAND is not the most important thing

I think the positive thing to come out of this is you now have a somewhat demo version of the Birkin. Something to test drive to see if you even like this style of handbag. See if this style suits your lifestyle before you spend well over 10k. Some people will buy bags inspired by designers to test drive before they take the plunge for the real thing! Glad you got your money back!

Does it almost make you feel like maybe you're not good enough to get one or feel a certain way? That's crazy that they would just look and speak to you and decide whether or not you are right or best to wear their brand! Just keep it,you don't want to use it because it's fake? It's still a beautiful bag! If you tried to sell it,what do you think you would sell it for price wise? I'm very curious to know. Maybe like highest bidder or something? I mean I really think it's still quite beautiful! I am sorry that you went through all of this,only to end up with a fake and I'm just sorry for everything you went through! It definitely does not make me feel not good enough. Thankfully, material things don't make me feel any different about myself. Being a good mom, worker, wife, person do. But I guess it is the challenge and the craftsmanship that makes it worth the hunt.

I just saw your video. Same experience! I went Paris for honeymoon and got nothing! Later I heard you have to buy other things to build up the spending record in order to get offer bags. But spending on other item doesn’t guarantee you will get offer. Sometimes I rather go with reseller which I get to choose the colour and size. Buying directly from store is a great experience but just too hard and too expensive.

Seems so crazy to have to go through so much for a bag! But there are birkin inspired bags on Amazon that I have seen a few different brands and they are all real leather,it doesn't say Hermes or anything it's not a replica but inspired by,the prices are amazing like 90$-150$, depending on which brand and size so I am actually wanting to purchase one of those just because I absolutely love the style but I would never be able to purchase a real one,my husband would laugh at me for that amount of money. But I know I will be pleased with one of the ones off of Amazon. 1 of the main brands is anifeel handbags
Have you never heard of any prelovdd sights like Potero fashion Phile don’t go to a separate seller there are actual companies that actually do this for a living that u can actually get a pretty descent price and fashion Phile authenticates it for you
Why didn't you try the more established resale sites? People have mentioned the Real Real and fashiphile already. I sell on eBay accassionally, but for this purchase I'd definitely be going with a business that does this 24/7 and has established return policies. Was it just because the price was (obviously) too good? Also, you can try the auction houses. Legitimate auction houses like Christie's or Sotheby's. This is too much money for an eBay sale.

You have to be a long term client of Hermes for a Birkin Bag. Usually the President decides on which client will be able to purchase. People who buy the Birkin just want status.

That’s terrible that they treated you this way. Not sure if you recall but they also treated Oprah badly. Freaking Oprah!! I’m glad you told your story. I would never spend my money with them.

they ask for the color, size, hardware so you’re not a reseller who is open to any birkin or kelly to make a profit. also, they can try to track one down for you. i think it’s best to go into your local hermés store and develop a relationship with an SA so you have someone on your side. in my experience, when you go to a less touristy store you’re likely to develop a relationship with someone who will remember you(and they’re less snobby).
Great suggestions. However, my Hermes is two hours away. I already have belts and bracelets and scarves. So I really want to save my money for a bag. I know it is a long shot to ever just go in and get one. The SAs were all actually very polite and nice to me.
I had the same experience at the FSH store in Paris, it was so upsetting! I also went 3 times during my trip.

Great tip: in paris there are so many nice and serious second hand shop for Hermes and Chanel in 8th and 16th arrondissement. You go, you choose the bag and you leave.
Yes you'll pay a bit more than for a brand new one if the bag is in mint condition.
If the bag is a bit used it'll be cheaper.

One of the tips to clarify whether it's fake or real: just looking at the stitches, fake one every stitches look like "- - -", but in the real one each stitch is like the right edges of each stitches is around 10 degree higher instead of a flat line. Like this if you can imagine " ↗️↗️↗️ "

Best reseller of preload Hermes is Vesteaire Collective. I watched the video where you did get one.
A dollar five per euro means you are paying more in dollars when purchasing something in euros. So that dollar wasn't strong, as you mention. A starting price of 12000 euros for a new Birkin Bag would mean you'd pay 18000 dollar for it with a dollar five per euro.
It is better in your case to purches from tade blake designer.those bag are simular like birkin but is made from real leather.and they made in italy.very ,very good quality bags.

I am glad I came across your video. I was thinking about getting a preloved Chanel Gabrielle shopping tote on ebay that’s a little over 2k and the bag appears to have an authenticate card, sales tag, and serial number but no sales receipt and no dust bag. However, the seller only sells mechanical things and hasn’t sold a lot of items. I will take this as a red flag and not get the bag.
Did you try to work with sales associate and stick with her? I know they expect customers to stay in their fashion house like buy their shoes, plates, bracelets. Great feedback on how to avoid scammers selling fake on eBay. eBay is such a dangerous platform.
I have purchased two bracelets, two belts and scarves. I really don't need anything else. I guess I will go preloved or try to get lucky.

Awww, you remind me so much of myself for some reason...we are around the same age, and my husband also wants to buy me a Birkin one day. About 5 years ago, he had actually gone into a Hermes store in the Miami airport one time and just randomly asked to look at scarves, and then he asked if they had any Birkins. The sales lady went in the back and brought out a beautiful blue Birkin and he got to check it out. He said there was nobody else in the store, and he stayed and chatted with the sales lady a while. I wish we could have afforded it then, and I had told him all sorts of Birkin-buying horror stories, so he was really surprised to just walk in and ask for one. He told me he was not dressed great, just jeans and a rumpled shirt, and unshaven with all the travel (He was flying from CA to the Netherlands). But my husband is one of those super-confident men that always sounds like he knows what he is doing 😁
The price was probably 1/2 then! I went into an Hermes store 25 years ago to buy a scarf and I thought they were rude and left. The scarves were about $100 and now they are $400 :-(

Oh I am so sorry to hear about your awful experience. I honestly hate the snobbery involved in buying a Hermes which is why no matter how beautiful I think the bags are I would never get one. I ended up getting a Teddy Blake bag and I love it as much as if it was a Hermes Birkin. I highly recommend you go check out their website as their bags are real Italian leather and are just beautifully handcrafted at a fraction of the price.

I know this is 2 years old, but I recently bought a fake too! In the process of returning. I paid through PayPal but IMO, PayPal is not on the buyers side. I know it’s in the fine print, but false advertisement should also be considered and PayPal is forcing me to pay for shipment, AND their “25% restocking fee”. PayPal says “The seller clearly states their return requirements, so I have to comply in order to receive any part of my money back. I have repeated over and over that the item says “Genuine Hermes Birkin”, but somehow they just look the other way about that. So, I’m not down with PayPal anymore. Also, I know the feeling. We get caught up in the whole allure of it. We get tunnel vision until we get burned, so don’t feel bad. I am now very anti-Hermes and the reason or that is that I don’t believe it is a matter of inventory, sales associate selection, seasonal color changes, etc. They know what is going on out there in the market and what it does is drive the demand up for their label. They know that if they make enough for the demand, the desire most women have to pay that much will vanish. And the people that have $$ and want one, get one. The rest of us who have to save up for such a big purpose, they know we only want one thing from them. And many people who don’t get a Birkin or a Kelly wind up spending their money on whatever crap they have in their store. (Right now they have a canvas bucket bag for $3500- ridiculous. It’s CANVAS). Craftsmanship may be superb, but many other brands make leather goods just as well. It’s all about the name.
I truly believe that if they were concerned about “the right people” having their bag, or the market being saturated with knock offs and resells, they certainly have the power to do something about it. What do you think would happen if rich and powerful people were turned down like the rest of us?
Things are exactly the way Hermes wants them to be. I don’t believe any of their BS.

The Leather inside is so fake. The real one is suppose to be Lamb skin. And the stamp suppose to be the same color as the hardware.. e.g if the hardware is palladium then the stamp is in silver.

Good Luck but it is only a bag, I’ve hardly used mine because it’s like the ‘holy grail’ to me, I’m so frightened in case I damage it, especially going through airports! I would keep the bag. You have a lot of memories attached to it now. In a few years I’m sure you will laugh when you see the bag. Glad you got your money back. Side note this is why I cringe when it comes to buying designer bags. There’s so many scammers out there. I would not mind buying a fake bag, knowing it was fake. But telling me it’s real and I pay hundreds or thousands only to later know it was fake. I would be livid. Trust me you had a good experience you still have your money.

I want my money working for me in the stock market rather than hanging from my arm. I think it a scam. This whole routine of making you beg for attention from sales clerks is a form of humiliation I’ll miss.

Wow! That’s great story about Hermès stores. It’s scary to spend that much money for a handbag. Man I feel guilty for spending $200 for Michael Kors bags but I love them though. Good luck on your search.

I used to love watching bags videos, now I am into the stories behind how people buy and gets the purse. The meaning behind it is more attracting to me. There are plenty stupid story happened to me while I was purchasing the purses. The rude attitudes doesn’t surprise me anymore.

Your whole experience really turns me off to potentially buying a Hermes Kelly/Birkin from Hermes ...I just could not put myself through that heartache/rejection for a bag. If you really want one go pre-loved (Fashionphile, Yoogi's Closet, TheRealReal, Opulanthabits) I would not trust eBay, Poshmark, or Tradesey. If you do go the pre-loved route you will get to pick the bag of your dreams (exact color, leather, hardware), no one but you will ever know where you got the bag from, you will feel good knowing its authentic, and you could potentially save some money off retail. Best of luck if you do decide to purchase one in the future. As for the fake...I would suggest trashing it. You would never feel good carrying that bag knowing its a fake and I personally wouldn't want to give someone a fake bag. Just my 2 cents for all its worth LOL. Love your videos Xoxo Nikki

Completely understand and what makes me even more upset...you reached such an amazing milestone in your marriage, you were ready to purchase, and they still wouldn't sell you the bag! I am just so turned off...I only recommended pre-love if you feel like you absolutely must have one. I get like that at times when its something I just have to have I won't sleep until I get it. I just wouldn't give Hermes the opportunity to make another sale with my hard earned money given the way you were treated (preloved they only mad a profit once :). They should have allowed you to purchase a bag!

She’s a very nice lady and also she has a charity foundation! She has a nice collection or u can ask her to find something for u. There’s a bag on auction i guess right now for 6k that’s i guess a vintage

Like you I also fell into a scammers trap on eBay. They tried to wait 20 days until they sent the bag. The bag was super fake, plastic smelling. Although we are protected by PayPal it’s still a nuisance to deal with the whole dispute and refund process.
