    As for Frans NP I think it has to do with her parallels to Eve (Adam and Eve). Frankensteins goal in fate was to recreate Adam and Eve and started with Eve. The original book Frankenstein: a modern Prometheus is essentially a retelling of the stealing of knowledge from the gods. The Eve parallel is important because she is the Christian version of promethus. The blasted tree is a fruitless tree of lightning encapsulating Fran’s story then as a child who has yet to grab wisdom

      No it is the reason Fran (not that one) became a scientist in the first place and it is a event in the book
      Oops misinterpreted your comment is a valid statement

    Details that
    Kinda are missing: Frankenstein didn’t reject fran outright for when she came alive he got scared but did calm down after running but slowly grew to dislike her and than the breaking point was when fran mistakenly killed a puppy cause she didn’t know how to control her strength and she brought the puppy to the doctor not knowing what she did wrong, also victor had made fran first for a reason, he created the female first cause he wanted Fran to give birth to Adam,the male counterpart to her, but realized it wasn’t gonna happen and than the rest is like the og story.

    I'm not sure how accurate it may be as a reason within Fate lore, but on a meta-design level, it's extremely fitting that she covers her eyes and rarely ever shows them off. In the original story, it was when the Doctor looked into the monster's eyes that how "unnatural and therefor wrong" his creation was really clicked in his head, leading to him running away and leaving the newly born Fran all alone in the world. It's only natural that Fran would try to hide her eyes, given that they were one of the primary causes of her abandonment, or at least it's an excellent design decision by her artist if it doesn't mesh with the Fate lore. Her Summer form clipping her bangs back and revealing one of her eyes shows what you were talking about, that now she feels more comfortable in Chaldea, knowing that she won't be rejected because of her "unnatural" body.
    Which, the original story was already extremely heavily dripping with parenthood-analogies, as basically everything that happens is the result of the Doctor "creating life" without being prepared for the responsibilities that entails, so FGO Fran basically being an abused child that was finally given a loving(if chaotic and somewhat dysfunctional) family is rather faithful to the original in a sense.
    And personally, it makes that EXP CE from the Apoc event, A Flower of Fran, even more precious as within FGO, it's the only time the player ever gets to see original Berserker Fran's eyes.

    I was very suprised when you rated her a B+. At the end i was either expecting a B- or a C+ since i didnt think her abilities related to her fictional counterpart. But i guess thats just the writers taking the creative liberty, since there isnt much information that he/she actually fought much in the books. But over all pretty good video, you are now the second source of fgo content i watch for historical info with klidge. Also please do zenobia next if ya can. Keep up the good work

      Thanks! Though... Zenobia will have to wait. There are many others ahead of her. Also I've been wondering if she has more time in future events?

    Fran's most famous is definitely electricity the lightning that created it specifically. The docter thought about while galvanising it and she is expelling her life energy so it's makes sense it would hurt her. I think the third is a more controlled way to release this energy even though it can still burn her servant body. And her ability to just obtain mana might be a reference to how she didn't need to sleep or eat which is a way to obtain it.

    In my headcanon Fran is actually a Mary Shelley pseudo servant.
    I only think that because I really want Mary Shelley as a future servant. Not a good reason I know.

      Mary Shelley as a servant would be crass.
      especially considering the story about what she did on her mothers grave.

    Funny thing when fate go was only a jp, I with my sister stubled on compilation of noble phantsm animations. We had no way to know who is who without understanding japanese language so we just watched it for fun cause we loved fate already and we genuenly thought that Spartacus is Frankenstein Monster. His early np had greenish lightnings and his grey colour with chains and stuff

    Should you ever need assistence researching either the Arthurian or Heian period characters, I'm willing to provide what knowledge I have. I have mini libraries of both due to research I'm done for various projects, including copies of fairly rare books like the chronicle of Yoshitsune (Gikeiki).

    Now let us imagine if victor Frankenstein became summonable. Let’s be real Fran is not the one who’s gonna kill him, heck I would be surprise if He lets her realize that Victor is even in Chaldea.

      We did have the Fran interlude where Victor shows up. I do show a bit of that interlude in the video. He is a complete jackass.

    if i recall, her bridal crest has a chance to make a new frankenstein when she kamikazi's with blasted tree, which is what happened in apocrypha, it's why sieg suddenly got access to her galvanism skill, she did kinda sorta also live on in him

    Can’t remember right if this was the thing but from what I heard the reason why Drake is genderswapped is because of a rumor that Queen Elizabeth I disguised herself as Francis Drake which had me thinking if Pretender came earlier we coulda legit got Pretender Francis Drake who’s based on that bit or sth like that. That said damn cuz I never got far on the Book by Mary Shelly and stuff never some of this bits here and there for Fran and y’know some of the other creative liberties done for the character.

    Great video great character
    Fran is one of my favorite character fgo has expanded solely because we do get to see someone who truly had their wish fulfilled even if it wasn't in the way they initially thought they wanted.
    Also as a good point Fran and Callous I think do bond well enough it their story with the time they are given but it's interesting to point out that Callous' depiction in El Melloi case files does have him focus on primeval batteries and electricity to some degree. So while its a different timeline where they never met it does show part of why they were servant and master in their debut

    Out of FGO, the name Fran ticked my mind
    there is a manga named: Franken Fran, a genius doctor who can cure absolutely anything BUT there has to be some replacement - like the rule: trade something equally in FMA (well kind of). She, Fran, can cure your cancer but maybe your original body isnt human body anymore replaced by a stronger like ape-body or some other parts like your sanity for a "healthy body" ...etc
    Anyone interested can give it a check, Scifi-horror-medical tags i guess(?)

    I think another reason for the gender bend is the interpretation that Frankenstein feelings at being rejected by his creator and society mirror the writer own experiences.
    Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin or as he would later be known mary shelley was like the "monster" a motherless child as her mother died in her childbirth (aka the monster having no mother and being made from human dead parts), then victor Frankenstein spouses the enlightment ideals representing those her anarchist father would espouse, to reject her when she would elope with percy shelly who was already married, which was frowned by society aka society rejecting the creature.
    Aka the creator rejecting his creature and thus the enlightment dream, the suicides of fanny her half sister and percy affect the ending of the creature.
    Also the novel was originally published anonymously (wouldn't have been published otherwise) and people thought percy wrote it, it wasn't published with her name after her father who accepted her after they married did so, so the creature being a woman that we thought was a men makes a lot of sense

    I think the overcharge skill makes sense if you think about it. Mary shellys Frankenstein is all about playing God and what more fitting the phrase 'what giveth, can taketh away.' representing the lightning that gave her life.

    The only part I hate about Fran is the outfit. If you're gonna have these characters have epic battles, at least make them wear something cool. Even the mummy bandage design is preferable to the bride outfit.

    I have to admit I always found the argument about the monster's name a bit pedantic. While Victor may not have been literally biologically related to the monster, he did give him life, effectively making Victor the monster's father. That would mean the surname Frankenstein would be passed on to the monster anyways (Surnames have been passed on in cases like adoption, so I think it'd be pretty reasonable to assume here). So I never saw anything wrong with the name also applying to the monster. Though for disambiguation, I also sometimes use Adam, even though that name was used metaphorically and not literally in the book.
    Side note: There are stories of Nero dressing in women's clothing and even wearing a wedding dress to one of his weddings, so I feel he works just as well for gender flipping as DaVinci does.

    • @CrazyYurie
      @CrazyYurie  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Seriously? I'll have to remember that when I get to Nero. :o

    • @alycatblues27
      @alycatblues27 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@CrazyYurie I do want to clarify that Nero's crossdressing is alleged. (Also, my memory isn't always the greatest, so double checking my work is never a bad idea) There are accounts of him marrying a man. But the big issue with Roman history is that the people who wrote a lot of historical accounts were also very invested in their own political agendas, so even proper historians have said it can be extremely difficult to parse fact from propaganda with ancient Rome.

    • @CrazyYurie
      @CrazyYurie  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@alycatblues27 Oh indeed. That's something I know about when it comes to Roman historians... that they tended to praise or demonize people with their own personal biases at play. Because of that, there is some thinking that certain emperors like Nero or Caligula might not have been as awful as they said. I'll be digging more into that when it is time for those characters. :o

    • @Isaac-ot6jh
      @Isaac-ot6jh 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@CrazyYurieI think it also important to note that Nero in Fate is connected, to the Beast of Revelations or the mother of Harlets. It’s why she refuses to be summoned as a rider as she is supposedly closest to the Beast in that form. The reason she is connected to it, is because Nero is quite literally the Beast referenced in Revelations, as 666 the number of the Beast is Nero’s number. Morel of the story always look closer at fates genderbends as there might be more to them then you think.

    • @CrazyYurie
      @CrazyYurie  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@Isaac-ot6jh That is very much the plan. To be honest, I've always felt like people complain about Fate's gender-swaps too much, overexaggerating just how many there are. How I did things with Fran here is meant to be a prototype for how I might look into other gender-swapped characters in the future. :D
