Just seen you did this video, i am the person that created the SG550 DMP in collaboration with SIG Neuhausen. I laid out the specs and SIG made it and i was given the lowest serial number. Im in Switzerland right now because i was at Sig shooting the SG711 prototype. Only thing that they were not able to do was the 4 position has plug, they just used a 2 position. Now we're speaking about a new one nicknamed the "SG550 Neu-Sniper" The two positions on the gas valve is standard and adverse. Also you mentioned putting on a suppressor on the Swiss flash hider, B&T has one that works optimally on that flash hider i got to play with one during my trip here to CH. It's definitely not QD
I want one so bad and I don't really care witch model I've always wanted one it just hasn't worked out yet but I will definitely get my hands on one for sure and once again another great video
Hi Misha, quick question for you: would you happen to know the name of those vintage AR15 upper receivers that don't have a forward assist, but have like an oval hump in the receiver in that area. Not necessarily Slick sides or slab sides , there is not forward assist but just a hump. and there's no brass deflector either. any info would be appreciated. Oh, I think Nodak Spud was remaking them for a while. It was a short run this type. :)
Probably over 99% of AR owners don't know you can buy these. These would be a fantastic rifle/pistol to purchase. I will have one sooner rather than later.
Honestly? i dout it. The way the company talked with our Nephew, their attitude? He became disgusted and disheartened. I think he just threw it in the corner and got on with life. He's doing very well in his firefighting career and is currently away from home at the academy actually. I only got to see him a few minutes over Labor Day myself. I didn't sell him the gun from my store, so there's not much I can do personally.
Awesome, the only 5.56x45 I own under 18" is a T91 clone Can you get the Swiss maybe hotter ammo in the US, I wonder what the implications would be if you put a stock on it as in would it be classed as a rifle or still a pistol? I mean if its still classed as a pistol the pros of having it in your car could be good, my "truck" well caar gun is just a plain full sized draco with a trigger job, debur, a side optics rail rivited, some KG gun coat, surplus handguards and bakenpistol grip and a triangle folding brace that attaches to the pic rail at rear, a magnified red dot and I put a little pic rail between the handguards for a flashlight, 39 round croatiin new mags that I fitted to it. I pulled some 8M3 bullets from tula ammo put them in barnual laqured cases with more powder that's Mexican match style and put some sealent on, I keep 4 mags 2 30 rounders taped together One mag has 8M3 another has FMJ I feel it makes for the perfect vehicle "pistol" as you get decent velocity with 7.62x39 out of a 12.5 inch and no US parts apart for the rs regulate mount and optic. Suprisibgky accurate and easy to shoot up to 300m, 200m no problem, quick deployment. I just feel that 7.62x39 is one of the best cartridges for a shorter barrel that's 12.5 that still gives good range and power, no fancy mizzle break just the standard Romanian flash hider. If I had to use an AR maybe .300 But I feel anything shorter than the full sized draco or short zastava would be bad. The military version of both the draco and short zastava AK are popular exports to millitarys around the world. I do prefer the draco for it's sights and mostly standard AKM parts plus it's probably the cheapist AKM import but the mini or micro draco.... No idea why anyone would buy. I love the sig 550 and do prefer the Swiss mags and look of the standard lower but yes they are pricy.
Anything with a buttstock is considered a rifle/long arm. Yes, this includes SBRs...its in the name 'short bareled rifle'. One thing i would suggest in this age of legal BS is do some reading up on guns used in defensive situations. This can get crazy in court and atternies can twist things around to screw you.
Misha, one fun note that 550 DMP enjoyers may find useful -- since DMP uniquely is 550-length and lacks diopter/front sight shroud-- it may possibly** (asterisk) fit in the hard case for STGW 90/550 sniper made by Meili in Switzerland. Only 550 sniper and this may fit that case due to lacking front sight hood. That case, which, coincidentally, is actually available locally! Due to the welded scope rail, even a modern scope may possibly** fit the box (depending on dimension). Perhaps you or Dave could confirm (or refute) fitment for this use case? Since this is such a new platform with all US-centric features.
A couple more notes as I watched video more: Wear and tear, FN M249S gets cerakote chipped off down to bare metal right behind the ejection dust cover. That's $15k. But then again I didn't know bounce location before using. My 550, took first shot, saw it eject, on the tape went! Used thin adhesive felt. Also for slop, AR use accuwedge. For my Sigs, I place felt on lower rear tower, thin strip across rectangular lip up to but not past the lovehandle bend. Front on sides of front pivot pin lug. Finally logo: noticed "black special" was written on side, unlike 552-Commando. I think recent batch of 553-Commando were actually "Special Edition" logoed on side like "Black Special", not model number logoed on siderail like "552-Commando"! It explains the HUGE font size used on 553-Commando too. Hope these notes help.
He, and everyone else in the US, gets them through Dave Wagner of JDI firearms inc, who has an exclusive importation agreement with SIG AG in switzerland. Hope that helps!
When it comes to new guns, direct from the factory? Yes, Dave has the exclusive but other imports can and do buy both new and used guns from 3rd party gun venders in Switzerland too. This is how the M+M/CGS and Trident guns came to be.@@MajTom101
@@misha5670 I agree and am very grateful for pioneering individuals such as yourselves (Dave and Misha) making "the real thing" more accessible(*) to us masses. Whenever I speak to Swiss national friends -- who are gun guys -- about what US Sig did to this rifle line with the domestic 556 series, they said, quote: "I always happy to help anyone interested in Swiss firearms. Even if SIG SAUER USA butchered our reputation." I now see what they mean. They are very fine machiery.
Nice collection! I’m no NFA/ATF expert but the pistol designation (550P) on the control portion, not to mention the import paperwork designating it as a pistol, may restrict you from attaching a stock to it. Stocked pistols I think are NFA controlled item but I am not sure if the 20” barrel saves you from this. You may want to check with them directly and get it straight from the horse’s mouth.
ATF - Assuming that the firearm was originally a pistol, the resulting firearm, with an attached shoulder stock, is not an NFA firearm if it has a barrel of 16 inches or more in length.
Closest would have been one of the handful of 16" 551s that came in with the 1913 rail. In the end when it comes to such things, sometimes you can't wait for perfect configuration and have to settle for 'good enough'.@@adam3651

hey Misha, great videos! A very random question - what city in the Ozark's region you would recommend for a high acreage country living
I’m not Misha but I will say that the Harrison area is nice.

Awesome analysis of an awesome firearm as usual. Can you do a similar analysis of the QBZ191?
Sorry no since those are not available in the USA.
Have 3 versions here in Canada before the ban which doesnt allow you to use them , Classic Green , Black Special and the 553. Great guns

any chance for a part 2 follow up for the panzer m4 issue?

They have several pages for each of them/the variants. Also the importer has a website too. Sorry can't post links; yhoutube rules.
Steel picatinny rail on the upper?
Yep, steel upper & steel rail. Not sure you could really weld alloy to steel?
