Just made this using the 1/4th uberflex hose and it works great, super convenient, and very inexpensive. NOTE: After you remove the air hose, take extreme caution not to trip the reel while putting the pressure washer hose on. If you do, this will cause the reel to free spin since there is no hose and it will destroy the reel. Be very cautious as this happened to me twice before the third successful attempt. If you are using a uberflex hose (highly recommend) bend the opening with pliers WHILE the air hose is still on to prevent the free spin.

I even replaced the o-rings thinking they may have been old and dried out but the same thing happened. Do you know of a replacement pressure washer fitting that is a direct replacement?
Yeah that was always going to happen, this air reel is probably rated for 300 psi or something. You can pick up a hose reel swivel fitting rated for 5000 psi for $40 or so. Installing isn’t too hard. Videos on TH-cam.

is there a way to wind up the real more? for instance my pressure washer line is 150 ft x 3/8. I have a feeling that it will only wind up maybe 60 ft before not rewinding anymore unless the spring is twisted tighter
There’s really no need for quick connect when you don’t take the pressure washer in and out. That just allows for more areas for leaks to occur. The only place I need a quick connect is where I attach the pressure washer gun.

Silly question but I’ve not found much info in videos, but what size diameter is suggested for your pressure washer hoses and air hoses? 3/8?
3/8” air
1/4” pressure washer
Depends on the flow of your pressure washer.
Commercial machines use 3/8” or even 1/2”.
Residential lower power machines would all use 1/4”
would a uberflex 100ft fit on the reel?
Can you use a flexzilla hose instead?
Yes. The flexzilla and Uber flex 1/4” hoses are the exact same hose just different names
does it need to be the merlin reel to do this?
This is the only reel I have experience with so I can’t say for sure.
