If I'm not mistaken, the choir is chanting "Teh Slaven ben Kar en Tuk" in the language of the Sentinels, which translates to "The Slayer will Rip and Tear". This is not a chant to instil fear in you. This is a terrifying warning to the demons of what's to come next.

So this song was actually based off of the "victory" theme from classic Doom. And while the song always gave the feeling of a hollow victory, the chanting/battle cry - which is new to Doom Eternal's version - adds a sense of rising from a deep resignation to right past wrongs. If i remember correctly the story goes that the betrayer was the leader of the Night Sentinels, defending the people of Argent D'Nur against Hell. At that time the Slayer was the only outsider to have been taken into the ranks of the Night Sentinels fighting against the demons with them.
Even though Argent D'Nur is an alien world and the Slayer is a stranded human far away from home, he wouldn't leave them to their fate; as the Slayer himself is the incarnation of justice and moral correctness. As the demons them self describe him: Unstoppable, incorruptable, unyielding.
Never did the Slayer harm anybody except demons. He may be hatred impersonated, but that hatred goes against Hell and evil, not against other people and beings, who made mistakes or had been used or manipulated by Hell. His goal is to destroy demons and stop Hell, not harm bystanders, innocents or victims.
However the betrayer was corrupted by Hell and he was the one who gave the demons the ability to break through the defences and consume Argent D'Nur. Hell's priests tricked him into thinking that they would resurrect his son, who fell in combat. So he literally made a deal with the devil. However the devil actually not only abused him to overrun his world, but also resurrected his son as the icon of sin, the ultimate symbol of evil; the massive demon that was later used to attack and overrun earth.
Shocked by what happened and filled with guilt for his actions, the betrayer put himself into exile and lived in isolation.
Until earth was being consumed by the icon of sin and the Slayer located the betrayer to retrieve an item, that would make the icon of sin volnurable. The betrayer gave the item to the Slayer and asked him to put his son to rest once and for all.
It's less about finding out what somebody did and much more about the sorrow and regret that the betrayer himself feels. He made a terrible mistake at a point in his life where he was weak. The soundtrack perfectly reflects the sadness, anger and pure regret of the betrayer. It's less of a reflection of revealing the betrayal it self, but rather a reflection of the endless pain, unimaginable suffering and abyssal chaos that is going on in his mind. This echoeness in the soundtrack is brilliantly "audioliasing", so to speak, the perpetual torment, wich the betrayer suffers. It basically recreates the understanding of irreversible mistakes, that caused imeasurable suffering and pain to innocents in form of extremelly sorrow and simultaniously furious music.

I got here WAY too fast to see this one for sure. DOOM Eternal's soundtrack goes so dang hard, and the inclusion of a metal choir of all things for some of these songs was some of the most hype stuff I've experienced in a videogame. They use it again in the "Gladiator" theme where it's a full on, hardcore battle chant... so hey if you ever want to just get a shot of musical adrenaline that exists.

That short tune you speak of around 1:35 is a reference to the victory theme from the original Doom. That track is named 'the end of DOOM' and is the tune that plays in the background once you've finished a chapter and read its epilogue (who would have thought!). It's a nice tribute to the original game, in which many tracks were heavily inspired by metal bands (Slayer, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, among others).

I would put it this way myself based on how it makes me feel. Note that this is based only on the music and the chanting without context of knowing what is being said.
Dissonant notes in the music already covey a feeling of "Something is wrong here, I just don't know what it is"
Single voice chanting (Rhythmic Talking) very softly. "is that coming from somewhere far away...or is it inside my head?"
Chanting gets louder single voice. 'Slight relief that it isn't in your head followed by the realization you are heading towards someone or something unknown speaking in a language you do not know"
Full Chorus. "the feeling not only that this is something to be feared, but why?"
Reason 1. "Obviously there are more beings present that you are wary of"
Reason 2. "The full chorus of beings chanting, chanting in unison, chanting as one entity, You feel like the outsider. You don't belong and these beings know you do not belong"

what an absolutely phenomenal piece. Music can have wondrous effects on living beings, but for a chant to kind of... both carve and flow at once through one's bones like this, is beautifully macabre.
When it comes to music most Hellish, i'd very much recommend checking out the soundtrack to Dante's Inferno. It gets intense, very choral and theatrical with cool effects such as rythmically rattling chains for the second half of Crossing the Styx, some more slightly Middle East-ish instrumentation for Forgotten Sands (referring to the crusades) or the wailing women screams of various intensity in one moan for the Winds of Lust.

Mick Gordon's soundtracks for Doom was amazing but he really turned everything up to 11 for Eternal. Putting together a choir to chant demonic lyrics to his music is something you can only do in a Doom game!
I'd love to see you react to the vocals of some tracks from the Black Mesa Xen levels, particularly "Internal Conflict", "Shadows of Death", and "Ascension (v2)". I believe the vocals were done by the composer Joel Nielsen's wife Kala, and while there aren't any lyrics, the ambience and energy her voice brings to the tracks makes the soundtrack feel outright otherworldly in places, as it should considering the setting.

When it comes to Doom music, I highly recommend "Hellwalker" and "Davoth"

Is that a deluxe Berserk volume on the shelf behind you? Near your head. They typically fit 3 volumes into one large print hardback book.

Oh man you should play Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal. They are such good games with BADASS music and glory kills. Playing Doom...and im not kidding...makes you feel that you want to go to the Gym and work out.

You should react to the theme of the monster Valstrax from monster hunter, it's a really cool theme and I would like to see what you would take away from it

you must react to the full choir track, its an unreleased track that doesnt make it to the game, but does have some parts included in other tracks like this one.

You should react to Heavy Day, a Guilty Gear Xrd song. It's really good and it's definitely worth a listen if you haven't already.
