I'm in a no-spend year. I buy only absolute necessities, like food and gas. I spend the absolute minimum in those categories, and in bills, like utility bills. I have no choice but to do this because, as of January, when the COLA increase came into effect, the $200 extra a month put me barely over the income requirements to qualify for $600 worth of benefits I was getting. So, because of the COLA increase that was supposed to help us, I now start out every month $400 in the hole. So far this year I've been able to cut out so much spending that I've been able to end each month with about $200-$300 left over. Not so much in June. June had more expenses than expected. But, I'll just keep trying for the rest of the year. It's actually much easier for me to be in a no-spend year than not to be. That's because when I know I'm not spending anything, I don't have to spend any time thinking about it or trying to decide whether or not to buy whatever it is. Saves me time and money. All I have to do is figure out what I can do with what I already have. You sounded like me when you explained your reason for spending. I'm afraid I'll run out of a necessity , so I buy a few extra... toothbrushes toothpaste, toilet paper, etc. Now I'm working through my "stash." That's one way I'm keeping my grocery bill down now. When that runs out, I'll have to readjust the budget. I'm so glad you included prayer as a way to keep out of temptation to spend. I REALLY like listening to you! I like how you think!!!
Thank you so much! Yes, my budget forced me into a No Spend so that I can get ahead and really SEE what is going on and how I need to move forward. I need to get rid. of this debt and increase my income with side hustles to really make an impact. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment and being here. I know that things will turn around for you because you are being faithful with what you are being given. Your harvest is coming!!!!
I did Michelle Singletary 21 Day Financial Fast. And it was hard for real, then I did it again, finally I was able to do a NO SPEND FOR A YEAR……It was hard and I didn’t buy any clothes, shoes, jewelry or purses. It was so hard, but I did it.
I'm doing a no spend on takeout category. I spend too much on takeout food so I decided to buy extra food so I'm only eating the food I buy from the store. The only days I'm allowing myself to buy takeout is on my 1.5 to 3 days off of work. This is my test run to see if I can extend that to other categories I spend too much 💰 on. I'm also been on a low to no buy on makeup products since the beginning of this year.
YOU & ME BOTH!!!! LOL 😂 Hubby used to gripe (& still does to an extent) about me & my shopping habits. Because when I was a young adult, I was a single mom I WAS BROKE. LIKE, I was so broke, I would donate my plasma to pay for my son’s diapers. When I was pregnant with my firstborn, I lived in a homeless shelter for pregnant women & their children. I was going to school AND while my dinners were covered by the homeless shelter, I had $27 in food stamps to pay for my breakfast & lunches for an entire month & whatever I got from WIC & food stamps is what I got to eat as a pregnant homeless 21 year old. & going to school & making sure that I did my chores & not sleeping hardly at all. & smells constantly made me sick no matter where I was. So trauma response? OH YEAH!!! Toilet paper shortage? NOT AT MY HOUSE! & I STILL bought commercial paper towels, etc because I didn’t trust I had enough for my little family still at home (3 of us, oldest was out on his own but we still help him when he needs it). So now, I am trying to learn to use our pantry more often than going to the store & stocking up, unless it’s on a deep discount. But I still have that issue of making sure that we don’t have to worry about toilet paper. FOR REAL, it’s a WHOLE THING!!!
I definitely decided that I needed to join you on the no spend lol I went crazy on buying food at work. I slipped up and made 2 purchases on the 1st and today but I'm going to bounce back 💪 great video also! Love how it also ties into your no spend workbook
Ohhh my gosh I’m so glad that I found your channel. Absolutely love your joyful, down to earth demeanor! (And you are gorgeous!)And TH-cam is my financial support community as well. 💕
I love no spend month. I did no spend for May and July. I plan to do that 2 or 3 more times this year. My goal is getting rid of student loans by first part of next year. I make weekly videos about how we can be best of ourselves and no more debts. Hope to see you there friend! Cheers, Mira
I had a low spend June. It helped because my personal spend money was getting out of alignment with my goals. I’m back doing a low spend July. I quickly realized low spend months are not the time to try new recipes. 🤦🏽♀️ I spent a bit of money to try something that’s not even a main dish. Totally impulsive. Yeah, back to basics meals. I have 2 activities scheduled this month and I’ve given myself grace. I’m not even trying to look at Prime Day. My big goal is to get a full month ahead!
Great video 😊 been intense savings almost a year in August. It’s an empowering, determination, sometimes challenging moments, but knowing money is there is a great feeling. Some months are harder than others but definitely ready for life unexpected situations. #Don’tGiveUp‼️
I’m going to join you. I will hash out my plan letter today. It’s my birthday month so I’ll allocate a specific amount of money that I can do for discretionary spending ❤. But this is a good challenge for me because I’m a teacher who doesn’t get paid in the summer, so this helps me curb how much I spend out of my summer fund bank account. My goal is to end the summer with a NICE buffer in that account. That’s my why.
It is my 50th month but you inspired me to really look at all my spending and put value in my self worth and making plans for my future. Plus I have save over 200.00 for my birthday so I wouldn’t over spend. Great video 👍👍👍👍as always
It’s my birthday month too and I’m giving myself a $500 spending limit but that means I can’t spend on other things this month. Happy birthday to us 🎉🎉 🎉
Happy 50th!!!! Birthday!!! Praising God for your life!!! You did wonderful by saving for your 50th. I would tell you to have a. ball...You only get 1 50th! What you are comfortable with. It is never to late! Have a great week!!
Yes I am going to participate in this but lord knows I have to put in the work. Kids go back to school next month on the 2nd. So this is going to be learning opportunity. But I won’t give up.
Amazing video, have this video saved as I am trying to do a no spend November month and see how I get on with it. I am excited to see how it turns out. Thanks for the tips and tricks sis. I love your videos 😊

I'm giving up gas station snacks, fast food, energy drinks and restaurants, because I can eat at home and save money and I need to eat & drink healthier anyway. I bet I can save at least $60 per week or month by not buying those. The little $3 here & there for redbulls add up.
Hey Jazmine, I have a question regarding No Spend. If I budget myself 100 on payday and I spend from that, would it still be considered doing a No Spend. I hope that makes sense....lol
Im on a general low buy right now but what i loved before was a low spend week each month right after i got paid. It helped me take the impulse out of my paycheck. When you think of it a no spend week every month equates to three months per year where there is hardly any non-essential spend! 😮

She is awesome; you are great too!
I call it a money diet lmao my husband loathes when I do this cause I put every dime towards bills and debts but it's always amazing after.
Always!!
You still look beautiful. It is all about your personality and being such an inspiration 🙏❤️

That’s a great category. It can get wild in a nano second!
This category is definitely a challenge. I’m constantly failing at this one 😭.
@@marriejames01 I so understood. I’m going back to cash stuffing certain categories to curb my spending.
Im going to start with having 2-3 no spend days per week starting tomorrow (7/3) and increase the days from there. 😊
Majority of my spending is eating out 😢 I’m cutting it out this month.
Huge gains!!
I survived the toilet paper shortage.🤣😂

Thank you!! You are right! Having the money there is so helpful and stress free. I’m thinking I’m going to make this a regular monthly thing
I'm soo glad you brought up the emotional spending/lack mentality. I experience this and it really is hard to heal from but I'm doing it.
It is difficult but we can do it!
I'm going to start with a 'no spend week' in July. Thank you for the inspiration! Good luck
That would be good! 1 week can make a huge difference
