Let's get together and start living below our means in 2025! This is a new mindset that I will be embracing heavily in 2025. Let's do it together...

I switched my cellphone carrier from $111.00 to $30 per month. I switched my car insurance from $192 to $56 per month. I canceled Hulu, Netflix, and broke up with Amazon by canceling my Prime subscription. I was spending over $600 a month as a Amazon Prime customer. All of that saves me close to 1K a month.

@shelianorman7760 I switched from Liberty Mutual to Progressive. I matched everything from my previous insurance except for car rental and lower hospital cost. My insurance with Progressive is $56 per month because I added rental insurance, which dropped my monthly cost of $10 bucks. Keep in mind that car insurance varies from state to state, just like health insurance. But, I advise anyone to shop around to get the best price quotes to meet your needs.

Look at all the food stuffs you have at home. Then start searching for from scratch alternatives (recipies) for just one to a few at a time. As you eat through your cupboards, pick one to a few from scratch. If you've got a powdered mix or starch with a season packet- these are the easiest. Durning one of my busiest times, I set aside 1/2 hour per (most) week nights to do some sort of food prep. I generally made up 6 at a time grab and go food items by setting out the food storage containers, measuring in one ingredient at a time down the line, labeling my containers, putting away all the things. Sometimes it was simply putting a 10lb or bigger bag of flour intofood containers. Or slicing and dicing 9ne produce item type into baggies or repurposed bread bags for the freezer. You can amass one heck of a lot of frugal grab n go products in 70 to 73 nights in a year.
Single serve packaged foods are another. In Aug-Sep '24 I did the math to compare the cost of single serve, 4 ounce portions, of apple sauce using Goggle and Walmart for items andcosts. At the time you could buy a #10 can with 108 ounces of Muscleman's apple sauce for $7.49; 27 four ounce servings. The cheapest per 4 ounce serving was thier 9 count Mott's for $9.99 which works out to 36 ounces. $7.49 for 108 ounces compared to $9.99 for 36 ounces. Call portiioing the #10 can into 27 containers (don't forget to scrape the can with a silicone spatula) one of those 1/2 food prepp activities; freeze what you don't want to store in the fridg. e

I pay myself first every paycheck (Invest), meal plan on Sunday's, put everything on a calendar even if it's $5 for a school fundraiser it all goes on the calendar 📆 so I can budget a month in advance, I let everyone know if they want to go out for dinner they have to let me know in advance.. I have $100 for misc every month that's my catch all for something that pops up. I've never had to dip into savings or sell my investments. I think being organised is crucial.

I paid all my loans, credit cards. No debt. Best part was when i got laid off from work in September, i didnt have to worry about paying the bills. It was a blessing. It has humbled me. I didnt spend money for my birthday. Or christmas. Because i have learned about what is essential in my life.

Changing your mindset is key! I enjoy goal setting. I started with easy goals and then moved on to more challenging goals. For example, an easy goal: use up cleaning supplies I currently have on hand without buying any new products. I think I went about 6 months without buying additional cleaning supplies. As I learned more about frugal living, I found out that a lot of what I was buying was toxic and now I use just a few cleaning products. A challenging goal: pay off cc over 6 months. I found it fun and encouraging to throw every little bit of extra cash at the cc bill. I kept a running tab of the balance going down on my bathroom mirror that kept me motivated. If I had an extra $25, I sent in a payment of $25. I sold things I wasn’t using, changed my eating habits, and most importantly, I learned to say NO! No to eating out with friends and family, no to things that weren’t in my budget, no to unplanned vacations/outings, etc. I started reading about finances and watching lots of TH-cam videos. It was motivating to read about others conquering their debt and building wealth. You can do this! It begins with changing your mindset.

This list is perfect. I found your channel in April 2024. The video where you calculated your debt was a huge wake up call for me. I did the same thing after seeing your process. I then cut my budget to bare bones and have paid off $45k of debt. It has not been easy. For me, I was overspending on groceries. I live in a rural area and luckily can’t go out to eat so I would splurge getting all the groceries. Now I plan and eat what I have, not what I want. I’ve cut my grocery bill in half from $1000 a month (3 people) to $500

This is so good! Well I have started living below my means for about 2 years now! The main thing I do is cut the expense on eating out! I rarely eat out unless I’m using reward points. So the price of my meal be either free or no more than $12 dollars but that’s to feed both my daughter and I! Honey we share because I need to push the plate back anyway lol! Another thing I do is stick to the budget! I have a list where most of where my money goes to! With doing this; I have been able to save an extra $300 to $400 every two weeks!

@darlingnikki_007 i shop off season for instance when the summer starts to roll around thats when u will see stores trying very hard to get rid of their previous seasons clothing to make way for the current season clothing to be on display. That's where the deals are at whether shopping in the store or online just shop off season I also shop sales or clearance . I recently bought a pair of boots online and the company was having a sale the boots retail for $167 i got them half off and another site i bought my son a pair of boots they also had a sale and I redeemed my rewards points on top of the sale so again the boots were in the mid $100s i got them for $67 and free shipping and handling. Honestly shopping off season has helped alot for me bcuz it keep me on budget I get what I need with out breaking the bank and I dont have to wait until the season arrive to go shopping bcuz that's when the prices are much higher .I live in NYC so we get all four seasons so I have to find ways to save on clothing for sure

In Jan '22 we went on a purposeful decluttering effort which called upon us to try to completely use all of the open containers from the house through the garage. We celebrated every emptied container removed from the cupboards and shelves; and every inch of real estate reclaimed. As the year wore on we utilized the "make do" and "use what you have" mottos. By June '22 we were including unopened packages and cotainers in a frugality effort to use up what we had already purchased and reduce new purchases. In turn, this led us to do more gathering, sorting, and organizing activity and thus the frugal living effort became a decluttering effort as a secondary reward.

I 100% agree with you about car notes. They definitely keep you broke. I got a car loan in my 20's and when I paid it off over 7 years, I calculated the interest I paid and it made me feel sick. I made a promise to myself to never have a car loan again. I wish I did the calculation before I got the loan, but you live and learn! Great advice in this video.

If you aren't ready for a no buy challenge do a low buy challenge. I did one for the entire year and only kept to a list of things that I actually needed or had to be replaced. I didn't get everything on the list yet but going over it every once in a while confirms if they are items that I actually still need or can continue to do without.

Great advice to stop spending. It seems so simple but it is definitely a challenge. I recommend making a list so you shop for only what is needed. Also, decluttering and selling my excess clothes, shoes, and bags etc have given me a surprising amount of money to put towards my savings. The feeling of financial freedom, is more than worth the effort of discipline and a little sacrifice for the reward of long term peace of mind!
