@TactlessGuy I did not say instant death, and there is a lot more to it than just the bacon. All the saturated fat and sodium being added from not only the bacon but the milk and cheese. I hope it is milk and not cream. It basically takes away the point of eating oatmeal.

I've been making bacon/jalapeno oatmeal for a while now and I must chime in to say that I brown my bacon in the same pot I eventually cook the oatmeal in. I like scrapping up all that bacon fond to incorporate into the oatmeal itself so it just tastes like bacon.
Steps: Brown bacon until crispy and remove for later reserving some bacon fat in the pot, add some diced onions and jalapenos and cook until soft, add the dry oatmeal and toast, then add your water and scrap up that fond. Salt and pepper to taste. Mix in some cheddar and cream cheese, plate up, top with bacon, chives, and some mexican crema.
Also, I might be crazy, but I also have like a "sausage roll" oatmeal bowl and a korean beef oatmeal bowl. I just like oatmeal and I like savory dishes haha.

Savory oatmeal definitely changes how you view oatmeal. I general, oatmeal is bland as fuck, which could be used as strength as you're basically given carte blanche to do whatever you want with it.
    Just don't have it bland.

Good way to start your day, light and easy meal. You can add brown sugar, maple, fruit, cinnamon, etc.
Idk what you just made but it screams “influencer cringe clickbait”
Plenty of breakfast foods. If you don’t like oatmeal then eat literally anything else. Also there is a things called “grits” which isn’t sweet and slightly savory. Very similar to oatmeal. Could try that.

For all those calling for grits as the alternative I think what will be revealed in the full video is the swap from rolled oats to steel cut oats or groats which offer a much better texture and ability to cook over a longer slower period of time similar to a grit. Plus that’s what it looked like to me in the quick cut away in the new improved version.

For dinner, use oatmeal in place of bread crumbs when making your favorite meatloaf recipe. Soak the oats in water or in your wet ingredients for 15 minutes before mixing in the meat. The flakes disappear into the meat. This is an easy GF substitution.

    @ShellLiza ปีที่แล้ว +3

You're a great creator and I feel really bad for the criticism bc I think you're getting slammed here and on IG for this.
The methods you used to make your oatmeal better has no bearing on whether it's savory or sweet. You can add crunch, creaminess, and different textures without making it savory. I don't see how that little pile of creamy looking oats you plated up tastes better savory versus sweet. I don't see how the removal of sugar affects the overall texture. There is a plethora of things you can add, from seeds, to nuts, fruits, (which already come in a variety or textures), syrups etc.
Now if you said you hate sweet oats, then I'd say yes you're on the right path to make oatmeal more palatable for you. And in all essence, there is no need to force yourself to like something you don't care for. I know as a culinary expert you might feel obligated to try, or that you can challenge yourself, but this one really seems a bit disingenuous even if you're not trying to be. Or maybe you're trying to share the decontruction method as like the lesson for this video, but I don't think anyone is relating to it much.
I think you made a pasta one too and that came off much more believable, I think it was your dislike your puttanesca and/or olives?
Also, side note - Mulan did the oatmeal with sunny side ups and bacon in the modern world first for all the savoury oatmeal bandwagoners! Lol, yes I know it might be congee, but Mushu said it was porridge and I'll die on that hill

You need the single malt stuff but it was an interesting experience and it's sort of our Sunday treat when we are going to plan to spend the entire day being

If you don’t like oatmeal, you’re just not cooking it right. It is in no way gourmet but it’s battery it’s creamy and it’s sweet, if you make it correct. Also very unhealthy if you make it correctly. Lol. I love your content it’s always top-notch and extremely entertaining.

      Selective hearing much? Lol
He said oatmeal combines everything bad about cereal
Like when it gets too soggy, horrible texture and and somewhat bland taste
Obviously he didn’t mean cereal is outright horrible lol
