I remember when I was learning guitar my dad (who was an 80s hair metal shredder type guy) showed me how to make a talk box from household items. I can't remember the specifics since I was around 8 years old, but i remember it involved a cheap headphone speaker and some tubing. It worked really well too.

I once made a ghetto talk box to use on my keyboard. You just need duct tape, an old computer speaker as your source, clear flex tube and a PVC endcap with a hole in it to house the speaker and connect the tube. Loads of fun.
I wish more How-tos felt this authentic. This is literally me when I get something out of the box and I'm too stubborn to look up what I'm actually supposed to do with my gear lmao
@@yonikup2865 because if the head has no speaker load attached, it considers it as a load of unlimited impedance and the transformer will try to raise voltage, impedance and current to compensate. this can destroy transformers or tubes

You don’t need an amplifier attached at all. The guitars can go straight into this if that’s all you’re using it for. I even have used it with keyboard before for a daft punk type of sound

Wow, it's a miracle nothing blew up! The MXR talk box you got should in fact go in front, into the preamp, of the head, just like a pedal. It's NOT SUITABLE as a load for a tube amp, and shouldn't have worked here. Whatever Hughes and Kettner did, clearly they have a safety of some sort, but if someone tries the it with a simpler amp, the transformed and / or the pedal could burn up. There also is a PASSIVE talk box - these are the ones that go between amp and speaker. Dunlop makes one like this, and it's called HEIL talk box. And you should demand getting one, because the missing manual is CRITICAL in this case, and it's only luck nothing happened when you plugged the MXR the way you did. Please make an addendum video, an amp somewhere could go up in smoke.
Radek Andruszkiewicz good comment I was wondering the same damn thing how did he get it to work it wasn't even set up correctly so why didn't it start smoking and Blow from overload that thing should have started smoking and being completely fried the first minute or less
Bob Hiel made the original Talk Box for Joe Walsh. It used a 25 watt amp and a horn speaker inside an enclosed wooden box with the tube attached to the box. It didn't plug back into your guitar amp, the sound came out your mouth into a microphone. A lot of people thought they would "improve" on this by using a larger amp and ended up cracking and shattering their teeth. The first time I heard it was Joe Walsh & Barnstorm at Winterland, San Francisco, in 1974. I didn't realize anyone else could hear it.. I thought it was just really good LSD :>
Tyler, bro... The black rubber thingie you attached to the microphone is supposed to be attachted to the mic stand itself :p It's similar to one of those rubber pick holders Dunlop makes to put on your mic stand.

Now it's an all-in-one unit, but EVERYONE knows the tube comes out of the speaker driver and up to the microphone input via your mouth, and now, so do you! Don't get me wrong, man. Your knowledge of the fretboard and theory AMAZES me. Peace.
A man puts it in hes mouth for the first time and likes it (NSFW)

11:28 anybody else hear king nothing by Metallica?
Think that might be it, it definitely isn't the house that Jack built

That or "Foxy Lady" by Hendrix
Master Dub good one! It just reminded me of the very intro of king nothing
What Tyler didn’t know about Livin on a Prayer is you have to open your throat up to get the true sound
