As soon as you said Crazy Train, I knew EXACTLY the part you were gonna use (as soon as you said it was in the main verse, anyway) My teacher showed me this song when I was about 15. When I was about 20 or 21 I finally got that lick after his 2nd run through the verse riff. A few years later I learned the bass riff for guitar because I just love the rhythm the bass uses to back the solo. Ive always slopped my way through the tapping, but I think RR had a unique tap-style at the start of the solo. And I was always super sloppy with that scale run at the end of the solo.
When I was 16 years old I took morphine for the first time recreationally and stayed up all night randomly trying to learn crazy train. By the end of the night I could play the entire song perfectly. But by the end of the day after taking a nap to make up for lost sleep, I forgot how to play the solo right.

Thanks for these tutorial videos. I found your videos a few days back, first one I watched was you reacting to guitar fails, Brian May's long lost cousin, reaching for his pick... Then the dog. Man that was funny. Over the last couple days I've watched your funny ones, but then just checked your channel and found your tips and tricks. This is awesome and will help me improve my licks so much. Thanks 🤘
Here are three riffs/songs that you'll 99% find hard to learn: ->Colorado Bulldog intro ->Technical Difficulties ->Eugene's Trick Bag [yes the finisher solo in Crossroads :P]
Suggestion: Small Licks, Big Impact Licks that are not the main part of the song or even main riff but without them, the song just would not be as cool. Examples: (1) The descending lick in the main Back in Black riff, (2) The nylon acoustic run in Megadeth's Holy Wars (with the riff following it crushes just that much more), (3) Joan Jett/The Arrows - I love Rock-n-Roll with the little weedly descending run (like Back in Black). These are licks that didn't literally need to structurally be there to hold up the song but because they are, the song is that much cooler.
It’s ridiculous how good you are. I’m literally lmao while watching this in disbelief while you play. 🤯😅 I watched your 10 Favorite solos to play and 25(?) easiest riffs to play videos then this one and I’m honestly speechless. Lol I’ve started watching various videos because I convinced myself I want to learn how to play the electric guitar but there’s no way I see myself doing ANYTHING like this… And still your videos make me want one even more… Great videos and even better talent. 🎸🎶
If I didn't see your fingering while playing it I would think it's hard but after visualizing it from you it actually seems pretty achievable (atleast from my own playing abilities)! I find myself hearing licks all too often and thinking I'll never be able to play that good but after seeing actual footage I feel like I can! Anyone else feel this way?
I feel this way all the time. Especially when I started learning more intermediate songs with sweeps and economy picking. I think that it has to do with that your not used to being able to play that kind of stuff so your brain tells you that can’t play it but when you see it in real time, you subconsciously compare yourself to who your watching. And sometimes seeing it is all you need to know you can play it.
Honestly, I could listen to you play that satriani lick all fucking day. Man makes amazing music, and in the hands of a skilled player, ALWAYS sounds good.
Yo man, great video! The Al Dimiola riff is actually a Paco De Lucia riff (RIP). Also, I could be wrong, but if we're being true to the original performances, in the first half of the riff, the the last two notes (G to A on the G string) should actually be a hammer-on, if I'm not mistaken... (I could totally be mistaken). Also, the riff should end with a rasgueado instead of a strum of the strings- although I imagine you didn't try it because you're using a steel string guitar, and that would probably be painful haha. Anyway, I know you like to get every detail right, so I thought I'd chip my two cents in. Cheers man!
13:23 what kind of guitar IS that? (honestly, I actually have no idea what u call a cross between a Les Paul and a Super Strat with a couple of demon claw marks)
Just break down that "Crazy Train" verse part...That is the closest I've ever heard anyone "nail it" and you did it in another vid...and it didn't sound like this...It's those weird harmonics that kick out...I always sound too clean, even with my Warlock and EMG PUs on that...Not too mention the man could triple and quadruple track his solos note-4-note. Why I fell in love with guitar. Miss you Randy. Why I also rock the Polka Dots.
Wow...Your breakdown on "Through the Fire and Flames" actually made me think I could play that....It's like intricate triplets. It's insanely difficult, but if you learn that shape that you showed and can do tremolo picking...It's in the reach of Mortals...But OMG...It's insanely difficult. Why does he do that amazing fret work and an Yngwie arpeggio and then Whammy-Bar C-H-E-E-Z. I don't get it. SMH.
Ha!!!! You're great! I was trying to figure out how to custom tune a new toy (Variax JTV 59) My Les Paul and other guitar friends are a little jealous with the attention I've been giving to it. I had you rolling in the background. I'll look for more content, you definitely are talented and funny!! Thanks!!

Licks that hurt your brain to play?
Song 1: Meshuggah - Bleed
Song 2: Tool Vicarious?
Animals as leaders - The woben web
Smash Mouth - All star
Readman Rides yes i tried it’s hard as fuck but man is it badass
Song 3: smoke on the water
I like the way you bring your personality into what you are teaching/playing! You have a good sense of humor!!
4:36 “Oh it’s just a minor arpeggio sweep in the key of C”
the "key of C" part shouldn't invoke fear upon you, the word "sweep" should tho :D
Licks that are Riffs because you think they are Licks but they are Riffs
Smoke On the Water
Thanks for these tutorial videos.
I found your videos a few days back, first one I watched was you reacting to guitar fails, Brian May's long lost cousin, reaching for his pick... Then the dog. Man that was funny.
Over the last couple days I've watched your funny ones, but then just checked your channel and found your tips and tricks.
This is awesome and will help me improve my licks so much.
Thanks 🤘
Or the next one could be playing metal licks on an acoustic not a electric acoustic just a regular one
You should make your profile pic a picture of a metal desktop fan.
Here are three riffs/songs that you'll 99% find hard to learn:
->Colorado Bulldog intro
->Technical Difficulties
->Eugene's Trick Bag [yes the finisher solo in Crossroads :P]
Colorado Bulldog's intro run is basically impoasible unless you have giant hands -.-
Ryan Pawelko Yeah xD but you can cheat by moving the first "stretchy" notes to a lower string :P it's still hard nonetheless...
Your guitar collection showcased in this Legendary Licks video series has me in awe. So jealous at all of these beauties!
Suggestion:
Small Licks, Big Impact
Licks that are not the main part of the song or even main riff but without them, the song just would not be as cool.
I agree with Holy Wars, that acoustic bit is just so cool
9:37 whoah buddy not allowed
It’s ridiculous how good you are. I’m literally lmao while watching this in disbelief while you play. 🤯😅 I watched your 10 Favorite solos to play and 25(?) easiest riffs to play videos then this one and I’m honestly speechless. Lol I’ve started watching various videos because I convinced myself I want to learn how to play the electric guitar but there’s no way I see myself doing ANYTHING like this… And still your videos make me want one even more… Great videos and even better talent. 🎸🎶
Imagine if Tyler just started to play some dimminished stringskipping Shawn Lane licks
Riffs you dont play because you cant
When he started through the fire and the flames i could hear the drums in my head goin with it
When ever he holds an acoustic guitar he has to play stairway once
Not so legendary licks that you should know about
Aka maybe some not so well known bands / songs with great licks
PureBanshee Let it burn by Avatar
Maybe some not so well attached fingers.
Place Position by Fugazi
Cheers man!
I play this song as well and you are very right, especially about the hammer ons
Just mentioning Al DiMeola, you know it's hard.
13:23 what kind of guitar IS that? (honestly, I actually have no idea what u call a cross between a Les Paul and a Super Strat with a couple of demon claw marks)
Oh It is a type of Marker-less fret guitar
Next: legendary licks that you think are legendary (but aren’t)
"Now imagine down picking the.... wait don't" *explosion* hah got me :)
13:59 does anyone know the name of that guitar?
Your playing is incredible, but it's surpassed by your level of meme-age.
Legendary Licks you wish you never tried to play (because you can't)
Reminds me of the first time I tried learning Perpetual Burn.
"It's just tapping. It's not _that_ fast."
One of my friends hearing "Viking Kong".
Gilbert is no joke.
How about a Randy rhoads habits?
Thanks!!
Legendary Hendrix licks in a song @musiciswin
For Joe Satriani, i always thought the hardest one was the arpeggio part of Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing
Oh yeah. The speed and precision Satch plays that at... I've never come close and I quit years ago trying.
That's some next level transition of guitars. The best I had seen in 2018.
I’m scared for his girlfriend
Is this a joke about his finger strength being good for fingering things other than fretboards?
@@notthefpopelongtimeagogala28 When you have to explain it it ruins it. :/
He is married
Next do legendary licks: because I'm hard
Bleed by Meshuggah, My wrist leaves for the moon by just thinking of the insurance required...
Perfect lick for this would be intro of Building The Church by Steve Vai
I thought that too, except about the bridge progression. But it's not really "legendary"; I think he's going for licks that almost everybody can identify, or have at least heard.
Randy Churchill yea true
It should be. One of my favorites
I couldn't figure out why I was playing Mediterranean Sundance wrong, it's the thumb gallop! Thanks!
Most under rated TH-cam guitarist of all time
4:07 are you vibrating your hand like the flash😂
