    Great overview on Resolve for iPad, Thanks!
    I'm working mostly on Adobe CC (Premier Pro, After effect, illustrator and Photoshop),
    I started considering getting an iPad Pro as a mobile editing station for starting projects on the go, maybe for the full offline editing, Then finishing my projects (Online, VFX, Motion etc.) on my PC or Mac
    but since Adobe take their time with a premiere premiere for iPad (and Premiere Rush is not enough), I started looking for another option for another NLEs.
    (at list for iPad) - right now my two finalists are DaVinci Resolve & LumaFusion
    I would love to hear your thoughts about transferring project from DaVinci Resolve to another software, such as After effects for online or even for continue editing on Premiere pro
    Any thoughts on that, Does projects transfer well, with your selection & cuts you made to another NLE / Software?

      Which brings the question of why is Apple being so stubborn in its refusal to bring Final Cut Pro to the iPad? What is the reason? It’s not that they can’t, it’s that they don’t want to. What is hindering them from taking a leap of faith and bringing this very powerful professional software to a very professional machine of their making? I also find it quite amusing that so called tech experts not realizing that these M chip and A chip iPads are in fact computers. Tablets are in fact defined as being computers. We call them tablets for short and drop the word computer which has led to so much confusion to such an extent that techies try to argue that iPads aren’t computers. Hilarious really.

      @@coralreef909 because an entry level M chip isn’t the best chip for editing. If you want to do anything more than an assembly edit or a talking head TH-cam video you get an M1 Pro or more.
      Also the iPad is just pretty crap for editing full stop. It’s a touch first device and a 12.9 inch screen is small for editing. And once you plug it in to external monitors… is an iPad you really want?
      The power can be used if you using art apps for drawing, animating or 3D sculpting. If that’s not what you do, why do you want an iPad Pro? And for that the M1 and all it’s 16gb of ram comes in handy (though I still run out of layers sometimes) The device just isn’t for you mate.
      What you need is a good laptop, and entry level iPad 9 is all you need, as the pros don’t make sense for your case. And that’s totally OK.

    Beautiful and enlightening video. I'm just waiting for the official release. Any idea when that will be?

      Thanks so much Carlos, glad you enjoyed it and found it useful. I have no official word on the public release date, but I believe it to be imminent. I’m guessing a week or two personally :)

      Thank you so much for the quick response. I'm sure I'll learn a lot from you. I'm a hobby editor and have been using iPad and Lumafusion for the last few years and DaVince Resolve is going to be a huge upgrade in my videos.

    You can add the pages at the bottom on iPad by using shortcut option-command-K and creating a shortcut for the pages you want

    I wouldnt switch from desktop to iPad but I would as it in tandem with my desktop especially since I opted to get an iPad vs a new laptop.

    I love this iPad option… I can see starting an edit there & finishing on the desktop. I usually use the Edit page- can you change clip speeds on the Cut page (I do a lot of speed changes in my editing…)?

    • @AlexPettitt
      @AlexPettitt  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can indeed change clip speed on the cut page. I'm not sure if you can do speed ramping though, will have to double check that!

    The speed editor is cool and all but will there be keyboard shortcuts as well?

      Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse worked great too :) Feels like you're using a desktop

    Great content! But is it possible to edit from the external drive so I don’t need to use internal drive? Lumafusion offers that feature

    • @AlexPettitt
      @AlexPettitt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it is. Everything you see in this video is edited off an external SSD 👍

    Question: Can you use remote color grades in the ipad version?

  • @G_handle
    @G_handle ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Fantastic work Sir!
    Many questions:
    1) Which iPads will it run on?
    2) Can you use a USB Hub?
    3) Besides the Speed Editor, can you connect a Color Panel (or MCU Control Surface)?
    4) Streamdeck?
    5) Trackball / Advanced Mouse & Keyboard?

    • @AlexPettitt
      @AlexPettitt  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks so much for the kind words :)
      1) Will run best on M2 iPad Pro, but supported by M1 iPads and older iPads running iPadOS 16
      2) I haven’t tried but will do. I see no reason why not.
      3) Bluetooth keyboard and mouse work great in DaVinci, I haven’t tried any other third-party peripherals.
      4) Doubtful this would work just yet as iPad wouldn’t know what to do with it. But maybe in the future.

      1. I'm running it on the iPad Air 4. Works great (mostly - experiencing an export bug that I hope BM will fix soon).
      2. I just grabbed one of my hubs. USB-PD power in, 2TB OWC Envoy FX Pro SSD, and a ProGrade card reader with a 256GB UHS-II card inside it, all reading and importing fine on the iPad and Resolve while charging it at full speed.
