That's a beautiful knife! I have one of those same blocks from Oleg I haven't used yet, but now I'm thinking I should pull it out! 👍🏻
Thank you Denis! you and Airin were definitely right about the quality of Olegs blocks
You did an amazing job. I used to do this, but I got divorced. I lost my workshop.
Best one yet bro!!
Thanks brother!
Thank you
No problem!
Quality content, alwaysss!!
Thanks brother!
Well done friend!
Thanks Don!
I really like the profile on that knife. I like the way you shaped the handle, too. Good job.
Thank you Sam!
Bomb💪💪💪
Thank you!
Good Lord, what a gorgeous knife! Wasn't so sure about the color of the micarta scales, but that inlay knocked it out of the park. Can't say enough good things about your craftsmanship, attention to details and artistic talents. Appreciate the video and have a great week. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you for the kind words Chuck! You have a great weekend too.
That hamon is beautifullllllllll. Nice work babe
I’ve been thinking about doing a hamon recently as well. Was planning using W2 also. Your video just gave me some inspiration. Beautiful knife!
Thank you! let me know how it turns out.
Always something good!
Thank you Michael!
You have NO idea the hype I am feeling right now! This one turned out fantasic!
hell yeah dude! Thank you! send me your thoughts on what you want customized on that tanto. you can just email it.
@@Wengelsworkshop Yes sir. I will get on it first thing tomorrow! Getting late where I am at =)
Thank you so much again, this is fkn amazing!

There's only one way to earn to taper the tang of your knives. Just go for it. Once you do you'll find it's not as hard as you thought. And the looks and feel of the knife is night and day you will never want to just settle on drilling holes again. Nice job on your knife.
Thanks for the advice Garet! do you free hand the tapered tangs?
@@Wengelsworkshop yes I put a center line mark and i grind the end to what ever thickness i want the tapered tang to be then i do just like you did on the 2in wheel of my platen I grind almost to the edges a fuller on the tang that way there's not so much material to remove i like to use a magnet as a handle. Seems to work well for me. As good as you do your bevels you will have no problems.
Thanks for the vote of confidence! I will definitely try on my next knife
Really liking the handle shape in this video.
Thanks Phillip!
Loved watching this come together. Great work! I’ve got a shipment of scale material coming from Oleg myself. Cannot wait to see them in person!
Thank you Andrew! i have only tried stabilized material from 4 makers. This Oleg stuff was significantly better. consistent straight to the center of the block.
Looks awesome man!
Thank you James!
Very nice work. Do you have another video that details the handle inlay?
Thank you Colonel! i do not have a video on that. maybe in the future though.
As allways amazing work!! Maybe for the secondary bevel you could try a sharpening notch. I would like to see your process of making the belt loop, its a very nice touch instead of a belt clip.
Thank you! I tend to find I don't like sharpening choils in real world use but this did make me reconsider lol. And I will do another sheath video at some point in the future.
Sehr cool
How much do you grind before putting satanite (clay) on before heat treat. Basically what thickness at the edge pre ht
ótimo trabalho parabéns
obrigada Felipe

If you're using W series steel, why quench in oil?
That hamon is beautiful! Nicely done!
Lol valid point. Of the research I did it still recommended a fast quench oil. You probably would not want to use parks aaa or canola though. Thank you Isaac!
Very nice work. Show long did you have the knife in the acid?
Thank you! I believe I did 3 shot etches. Cleaning in between each etch. Maybe 3 minutes a piece
@@Wengelsworkshop thank you. Will try
I'm curious about w2 steel. Obviously it's the best for a harmon but what do you think of it as a knife steel compared to other steels you've used?
They say W2 varies depending on where you buy it, but most people describe it as 1095 with a little vanadium or 1084 with a little vanadium. The heat treat took well. I tested the edge cutting half way through a 2x4 and it was just as sharp as before hacking at the 2x4 for a bit.
@@Wengelsworkshop ok thank you
Very nice and great timing. I’m working with W2 for the first time too and will be doing HT tomorrow night. As you mentioned, Jarred is hands down the king of the hamon. Looking you up on IG and will follow.
Good luck and thanks for the follow!
Where did you get that kydex?
