    Prop a stupid question. However, why dont you do all the grinding before hardening the steel? (I've noticed that everyone does it this way)

    • @Wengelsworkshop
      @Wengelsworkshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the edges are too thin they tend to over heat during the heat treatment. if you leave them thicker it heats up more evenly

    • @Wengelsworkshop
      @Wengelsworkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol i did tell you how. but i will tell you again. The clay that was put on before heat treatment prevents part of the blade from hardening. then when you etch the blade in acid it reveals the hamon which is a contrast between where the blade was hardened and where it wasnt.

    you lost at the handle installation. way too loose

    • @Wengelsworkshop
      @Wengelsworkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well you should look into it bc some very good knife makers including Kyle Royer would disagree with you. An extremely tight tang fit can cause the handle to split if there is any expansion in the wood. Which even with stabilized wood there will be some movement. Thanks for watching anyways Richard. Take some time to look into this topic and maybe you will learn something.
