@@ZachBehnke Ok, that’s great info. Cold weather can cause electrical glitches within system. We lost power in February and our house temperature got down to 39*. Once power came back on, I told wife that the indoor temperature must be back to room temp (69*) for a minimum of 48 hours before introducing power back to tv. Most people would say 48 hours is an extreme however knowing what we know about cold temperatures and electronics…it’s our minimum wait time. Temperature changes arn’t that friendly to electronics. You may have a faulty main board or ribbon wiring due to operating tv in different temperatures…🤔 😎👍

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders thanks for the response! I haven't decided if I want to repair it yet. It would be about $70 for me to get a screen replacement, which is cheap, but I'm kind of enjoying not having a TV. It's been 6 months without one, and I don't really miss it. Just my guests do.
Heyo, me and my sis have an onn Roku TV...it has a crack somewhat off-center. We've been trying tips and hacks to prevent spending money, we're not experts and we want to know if it's possible to fix a Tv without taking it apart. Are there any ACTUAL life hacks that may help? Or will we have to buy a new one... The cracks have split diagonally, and the cracked side switches from black to white, the cracks are internal and can not be felt from the outside, we tried one life hack which was to take a damp cloth and lightly run it against the screen, this seemed to make it worse. So far that's it, we won't try anything until we receive a response on what to do, you guys seem professional and very helpful!
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. What we would recommend first is removing back panel to gain access to internal portion of TV. From here, you can perform a thorough DIY cleaning of all internal parts in hopes that this will fix sporadic screen behaviors such as vertical & horizontal lines. If a thorough DIY cleaning does not do the trick, it will be time to start replacing common cause parts attached to the internal portion of your TV. Keep us posted. 😎👍

Hi hope your still responding I need help so I have a 50inch sceptre tv I had a purple line on my tv and then I tuned it off and it was multiple color lines but I just got home and was told that my gaming headset has a magnetic in it and that’s what caused it am trying to save to get the screen fixed
Heyy. I really hope you're still responding to messages under this video. Our Sony flat screen TV is just days old. (Not up to a week) With a similar problem. But it's restricted to a small edge of the tv. I want to know if it could be managed without having to change the screen or get a new TV. Could we still use it like that without fear of further damage? I really hope you respond 🙏🙏
Thanks for watching, we sure are. Is the picture just shrunk and pushed to the edge as a standby video square or is the tv full and just showing signs of damage in edge?
The TV is full and showing a sign of damage at its edge. It has a line of impact at its top left edge. But as I type this we just noticed that those lines it was showing previously has considerably reduced. Like before we were unable to see anything beneath the affected area but now we can see things under the lines(like they are fading away) though the line of impact is still visible. I don't know if this is false hope or the situation is improving... Thank you so much for your response

I'm Lucky. I had a standing floor lamp, get knocked over, into my 27" Asus monitor. I've been using it for a couple of years this way. The Display is fine, no artifacts, but the outer 'protective' clear panel is cracked. It's not an insignificant crack, its at least 5 or 6 inches long. Luckily unless I am looking for it, it is not very noticeable. I have no problem figuring out and working on the Monitor, but where do I find the replacement panel (just the clear plastic), without buying a new LCD panel? Can I go to a place like Mr.Plastics and give them thickness width and Hight, and just buy a rectangular piece of plastic/acrylic?

I have a 55'' 4k Led philips and the screen cracked, how much do you think it will cost? Do you think its possible or easy if i find the screen and fix it myself ?

Hey so I have a Sony Bravia 75” 4k LED, its cracked so what parts should I look for if I am trying to repair this? There is a impact point and lines all over the screen, so what should I look for when searching? Panel display? Or Panel Board? Was wondering if you can help?

I bought a brand new 75" and when setting it upon the floor the screen touched the table and broke the panel just like that. Never even used it yet. Cant find the panel online either so far
Thanks for watching, it’s possible. We haven’t performed that in the past. As long as the panel from a different tv is compatible with the current TV’s main board and power board.
Hi, thanks for your videos, very informative. Do you know a good place to buy a new display pannel. I have a Samsung 85 inch with broken display and I would like to see if it is worth to fix.
Hey there! I’ve got Samsung UN85AU7980FXZC and when I turn it on, I see the white letters HDMI in the top right screen, then it goes black. Power is fine. Glass is fine. But plugging any input still remains a black screen. Any idea what part or board I might replace to start?
Just powered my 1 yr old 80" TV. After transporting it 5 miles in a Uhaul and powered it on. To find out the screen inside is cracked. No impact point it seems but Devastated. I even had sat ir on top of a nice comfy couch to cushion it. $850.00 down the drain. However, the same TV is now half the price.
Started using the spare TV (SONY KD-55XE8596) again as I waited for my replacement for the main TV to arrive (Recently broken), It has been working perfectly fine for the past 4-5 days until this evening when I turned it on and there was a big black line running vertically through the tv and horizontally about 3/4 of the tv but much smaller. These lines originate from what looks like an impact point, but I don't see how it could've been impacted by anything and there is no visible or tangible crack to the outer panel. I know it's not glass so it would be difficult to notice it as there's no shatter or debris, however, you would at least expect there to be a dimple or something where the impact happened, but there isn't. This tv is quite old so im not sure if its worth bothering to replace it, but is it possible that its just the electronics and not actually an impact caused fault.

Ok, that’s great info.
You may have a faulty main board or ribbon wiring due to operating tv in different temperatures…🤔

No impact point it seems but
Devastated.
Thanks for watching, that’s a bummer. It’s possible that the internal portion of tv including all connections need to be cleaned. Dusty connections can cause havoc on electronics. Below is a helpful link.

What is the screen called?

It is mainly titled as (Panel). However some websites title it as (Panel Screen Display).

My Vizio smart TV (32 inch) was broke is their a tutorial for that? I think its broke on the inside of the screen
Thanks for watching, we don’t have a video on replacing a Vizio panel however you will find it to be pretty similar. 👍
I have a similar issue i have the 65 r646 and my son accidentally tapped it with his vr.. turned it on and boom all squiggly lines and u can see the impact point.. geek squad said nothing they xan do after i showed pic to the tech..😢 so im wondering if i have to replace the panel.. its cracked on the inside
I have the 75in R646 and I tossed an iPhone cable out of my room and the corner hit the TV. Purple and black vertical and horizontal lines up the screen. Crazy how a $1,500 tv can be broken with a very light tap from a cable
@@Floridaman458 so what did you do toss it?
@@youngjabelz88 it happened like two nights ago so I haven’t don’t anything with it. There’s no crack on the outside of the screen but it’s cracked underneath. At first it was one purple line going up and one green line going across but now there’s probably 10 lines of different colors going vertical and horizontal so it’s getting worse. What ever happened to this tv being quantum dots and individual pixels, it’s obviously not because one small spot effects the whole screen. I saw your comment was from a few months ago, did you ever come up with a solution or did you toss it?
@@Floridaman458 i didnt know wat to do about with it til about a week ago, a guy here who fixes tv screens said he could fix it, said its 375 to change screen out i just dropped it off last week just waiting on a call to pick up..
My humble opinion... I rather have a big cube to watch entertainment than to be dealing with this ridiculous fragile screens! Paid $$ for a Tv that passing 3 days out of warranty, started to get purple dots! And now has 2/3 of the screen cracked.

Got a LG 65QNED816QA 65" Smart 4K Ultra £1200. Setting it up I accidentally knocked it off my tv stand putting in an HDMI. I caught it with my hand. LCD is damaged. Cost to Repair £1150.
Insurance people. Only way to fix it.

I bent my tv over 2k and the screen just shattered
Sort of left off on your follow up video, where you replaced the screen! It seems that if it's worth it for the owner to keep, then it's worth it. I think the more the device is in the higher quality range, the higher price is paid for parts. Thank you 🤓 $530?!?! 😯😠 I would if the price of a replacement screen was less than a similar system, but you would have to be willing to do extra work, hope the replacement screen arrives intact, etc! Samsung did a great job of packing your new one!
Good morning, we are drinking our morning coffee answering any and all questions for the DIY community.
We appreciate you watching and sharing this. We were pretty pleased with how the new panel was packaged and shipped.
Overall, a friendly DIY process, but you’re spot on, larger and more advanced the tv is, the more expensive the replacement parts are.

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders good morning/ day also! Coffee?! Sure!! I am still not sure what to do with the 2 broken 4K TVs I have. On one hand, the 50" does work, it just needs a new screen! The 43" I would have to do some troubleshooting to determine (at least a ballpark guess!) What the problem is. The other hand, it's cheaper to go to a store and buy a new one! Thank you 🤓

I have to say my old TV models lasted years ie. Sony Bravo Lcd and Panasonic Viera Plasma. My LG tv is only two years old and has already got a similar fault. I'm not impressed, and insurance isn't cheap. It may be my fault. I did lay it down and cleaned it wrong a few times, or it's just a random fault smh. I'm so sad it was my fav item 😢 now I can't use it. Tv insurance itself gets pretty expensive after the models over two 2yrs, and now they are adding on an excess charge to cover themselves as people are insuring faulty tv's and then making immediate claims bar humbug 🤨
Thanks for watching, that’s a bummer. We have been there and know that sad feeling.

Yesterday, putting my tv on a rack and my cat since it loves being devious it bit my leg and the tv fell out of my hand and it dropped. When it dropped my heart sank because that tv i bought 3-4 yrs ago was 600$. It was my first tv, and when it dropped i started to cry😂i tried calling best buy to see if the warranty i had on this tv was still active, and sadly there was nothing under my name or my moms name, so most likely its an email i dont use or phone number🤧
So sorry Kyle I’m in the same situation I have a 55 inch insignia tv. Had an incident accidentally threw my microphone into screen. I broke the screen tv even maybe I’m so stressed cause my family bought this tv for me and I know it wasn’t cheap. Just can’t afford right now to have it looked at I’m so depressed
It’s not right to gibberish on closed captions i can’t understand and trying to replace part on my tv but i feel not very comfortable with your videos because i don’t want to risk to fix them without instructions through closed captions. I want to read them to tell me how to replace parts but i will not do it because its not safe to do it without the closed captions. Closed captions is very important and not being funny and cannot gibberish or confusing and can leading be very dangerous or harm someone and prevent big mistake damaging my tv. Please retype this closed captions first. It important for me to read them.
If I cant fix my $4300 TV I will never ever buy another one again. I will throw it away and any hopes of owning a Glass Home. well it is just like this.
