LOL I had the exact same problem with my razer kitty... And I also had to cut the cord in order to get a new one. x3 I'm going to try to fix it because its always nice to have a backup headset.
If anyone has this problem: "Headphone occationally disconnecting from PC due to worn out / weak point in USB wire." I have a super easy fix, and just fixed mine. The reason this happens is inside the fabric insulation at certain points where there's too much movement, the wire starts to wear out and slowly rip, from being bent and twisted over and over. Razer intentionally manufactures folding / bending parts to manufacture this defect in. Try bending the wire around, and find out exactly where the fault is happening. Chances are it works just fine, until you bend a certain point in the wire and then it disconnects. If it's at the exit of the left ear cup you're going to have to disassemble, otherwise, that's not necessary. Plug the earphones in, and play test music. Hold the wire in a position where you're sure there's there's no disconnection! Then you're going to want to drip lots of superglue onto the fabric of the wire and allow it to soak it all up. As it cures it's going to become hard like an epoxy. Apply few coats and it'll turn into a really firm area and have 0 movement. This will "freeze" the weak point in the wire in shape so you don't have to cut the wire, and go through re-soldering. For me this was at the exit of the left ear-cup, it would constantly disconnect if I tilted my head. I de-assembled it, and applied plenty to about 1-2 inches of wire before the exit & after the exit. and also glued it to the exit, so there's no movement from the wire sliding in and out, and it works 10/10, no disconnects. Another perfectly good device saved from the landfill.
Mine kept popping and disconnecting 6 months after purchasing them and I was suspicious that it had been twisted and damaged because of how twisted the wire was when it arrived. I got a new pair from Razer, but after trying this fix on them before binning them for good, I managed to fix them and passed them onto my sister.
How about, instead of doing this, u just throw ur headset off the roof because i dont think anyone is going too really take apart their headset to do this
The real question would be, is it possible to add USB-C on the razer kraken ultimate/kitty, and make the cable detachable? That would fix the cable issue altogether by avoiding the bending on the headphone side of the cable, plus, you wouldn't have to disassemble the headset every time the cable breaks.

I also have the chroma. Was it complicated? There seems to be a broken wire from what I can gather due to the sound and mic cutting whenever I nudge the cord. Is there anything I shouod be aware of before attempting this? (Worried I'll make it worse xD)

@@Kecenaa did that actually work? i've been trying to contact razer to help me, but they didn't even reply lol. should i roll the wire in the earpiece?
I bought the Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma about 3 years ago, and the headset sometimes turns off and back on when I nudge the cable. I am following your tutorial, but there is some weird white glue-like paste over the cables and the PCB. What should I do?

My mic doesn't work and I hear a little rock inside my left earphone please help
Did you try to open it? Maybe you put to much solder, so it broke off
Good vid, but it would be better with full pcb bord displayed
Yes, it would... but I was a newbie in repairs... 😊
You are a legend Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so scared and I didn't know what to do and now you saved me!!!!!!!!!!1
+inesta 987 thanks...
Where'd you get the music from mate?
PixelDaFox TH-cam, those free audio clips
Does it work with ultimate?
Well haven't tested, but in general, all headphones powered over USB, which also have the connection over USB (integrated soundcard) work more or less the same way...
@@snowkingcro Yeah makes sense :) But i really hope i wont need this guide
works with synapse?
Sorry, haven't tried yet
I have it as AUX cable
So if I change the wire it doesn't affect the quality right?
Yes, the quality will not change, however, if you wire it wrong, you will get nothing
where i can get a cable?
It's a common USB cable, you can get it anywhere!
I just tried to find a more flexible, but any usb is fine
snowkingcro can you give me a link ?
you can try this one www.ebay.com/itm/164167376246
Wasn't what i was looking for...
sorry
Do i need to use the paste?
No, but i would recomend it!
@@snowkingcro what is that paste tho?
soldering paste, or flux...
the metal on mines broken..NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Metal'? the only metal thing there is the speaker... how did you manage to brake it? :O
@@snowkingcro i accidentaly stood on it, but i bended it back the right way now.
thanks for the video mate
Nope
Razer Kraken USB is actually trash, i have it and i use it for 3 months and its broken for no reason.
The audio dial on the cord isnt working (I can just scroll it over and over! And the sound coming out of it is overall garbage because of it!)
If i can fix this easily
PLEASE DONT HESITATE TO TELL ME HOW!!!!!!!!
+EruptionBlade4565 i think that your dial broke off... Or the resistor died, so the signal that comes out is bad
I bought it for 162$ and it stopped working for less than 3 months
same with me, I have the Razer kraken pro v2 and the left speaker just stopped working after a month.
my headphones keep cutting out for no reason and everything is fine.
Well if they keep cutting i wouldn't be so sure they are fine XDD
Surely nobody actually did all this
could be so
