    These were some brilliant points with great reasoning and your analogy of Oracle vs DB2 was so relatable...I would advise to take down this video asap and create a different one with animations....The thoughts you shared here are worth way more than 18k views

    Excellent video, GK. I would also recommend some horizontal learning. Meaning, pick a concept or a product and see how the different providers deliver it. For eg., you can learn VMs, instance templates, groups, scaling, etc from GCP and do the same with EC2 at AWS. This will show you how things are done at the different cloud providers and will also solidify your knowledge. Another example would be to learn Cloud Run in GCP and Lambda in AWS.
    Keep them coming, GK. I wish you would have some advise for 50+ people like me too. We seem to be lost and we respect and honour your guidance.

    I've got over 20 years of system administration experience and although heavily invested in all things Microsoft, decided this year that I would transition to Google Cloud. It's purely selfish really - I find it much more interesting than the others at the moment and I know that I will need to study something that will hold my interest and that I can get passionate about. I'm also realising gaps in my knowledge (didn't realise how much I would use Python until I started learning it for example), but am managing to plan study time so that I can at least get familiar with those things. I think your video was excellent and very helpful -- thanks once again!

    My two cents would be to recommend Azure. I think it's integration with Powershell and Windows AD will help it win out in the log run. Although this is more for people in or looking to get into more of a sys admin type role.

    • @TheB1nary
      @TheB1nary 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've been a systems admin for some time (over 20 years) but decided to go for Google Cloud. It has stretched me - but I find it far more interesting. For some reason, Azure just feels like an extension of what I have been doing for all of that time. Of course, that is one of its major advantages as you rightly pointed out but it can also mean I'm still stuck in that one environment. Time will tell. All the best to you on your journey!!

      Hi Amit, AWS, Azure or GCP has managed services for AI/ML space. If you know the foundations well you should be able to do well on any given cloud. Only thing that might factor in is if a company is looking for expert in certain managed services. For instance they might ask for experience in Dialog flow etc..

    Our company uses both Azure and GCP. Azure interface is much better and intuitive and all the other Microsoft technologies fits nicely with it. You also need to look from the angle of which is more intuitive and interesting. If you look purely from Job prospect, you may be pushing yourself to learn something. I am not saying ignore the Job opportunities part, that is very important. however, i would go with something that may have lesser demand but more intuitive to learn. Azure wins hands down compare to GCP. I find GCP interface a lot more confusing than Azure. Of course this is just my opinion.
    Azure is like watching David Gower, Mark Waugh, Gavaskar or Zaheer Abbas bat - Sheer elegance. GCP is like watching the fidgety Steven Smith - effective but sore to eyes !

Our firm is loaded with Azure guys and there is a huge market for AWS but he said if you can, go for GCP as it is relatively new and has more space for growth. This video is only the second time I found a similar advice. Interesting.

    Hi pal, agree that GCP or Azure is a better choice over AWS. I've been in Data modeling/ Warehousing/ Analytics & Business Intelligence domain for almost 10 yrs now. I'm thinking to choose Azure as Microsoft is an enterprise solution. However, though Google is best in Data Science and AI&ML, GCP is yet to earn enterprise credibility and also switching from legacy systems to Azure would be much easier compared to GCP migration. Please let me know your thoughts on same.

    Try to leverage what you have first, instead of jumping to something completely new. Build on your past, and use it to move to the next stage.
