If Spotify had a "cheaper" tier it would probably be so bad that about 75% of stuff you want to listen to wouldn't even be on there. Amazon Music Prime is so bad that it keeps recommending me the same albums over and over again to hide the fact that most of the stuff I want to listen to is in music unlimited. First you did not use desktop app on Amazon. Second you cannot compare Spotify to amazon being it only uses a lossy format which sounds horrible on a good hi-fi system. Amazon not only has hd 16 bit but allot of their stuff outputs to Hi resolution 24 bit all the way up to 192 kHz. Spotify pails in comparison. What are you listening with? I used to like Amazon music until just today when I tried to play an album I want to listen it doesn't let me play when I was using unlimited data. It happened a few times which led me to cancel my three month subscription of unlimited. Hoping with spotify that I just signed up for as my subscription for Amazon music will expire in two days, that it'll just play with no issues at all giving a shot of the premium
Great video but I was hoping you would compare the mobile app and the sound quality, especially that a lot of reviews claimed that Amazon has the upper hand on that matter
I thought your comparison was very thorough and as objective as possible (with consideration to the fact that you admit there is some subjectivity involved in the choice). I think the highlights you touched on or very thorough and comparison points were as "Apple's to Apples" as possible considering they are two very different products with different features.
The fact I have to pay more for Amazon unlimited music when I already have prime, means I have no incentive to change platforms. It takes time to create playlists and find music you are listening too. If they at least made it half the cost of Spotify I would consider switching. But it's the same cost. SO what keeps me on Spotify is everything else sucks or costs the same.
Amazon HD is only $8/ mo and has much better audio quality than Spotify. Spotify hasn't even released their hifi tier yet and it will probably be double the cost.
The only thing that matters to me is audio quality: that’s the point of listening to music in big expensive headphones. Consistently, Amazon Music’s library sounds more high quality than Spotify’s, even at the High Quality setting in Spotify. Spotify’s music sounds so much more compressed, where I need to turn up the volume to make out individual instruments or sounds, and where there is so much clipping that cymbals on rock tracks from the 80s on sound so garbled. On amazon Music, I can hear each instrument clearly no matter the volume level, and I almost never hear clipping. Spotify is sexier with more gimmicks, but Amazon Music is better at being a music streaming service, despite its lack of bells and whistles.
Amazon is far superior in sound quality than Spitify, When I cued up one of my favorite songs on both Amazon and Spitify in my truck and switched back and forth, I couldn't believe it, Amazon blew away spitify.
You keep saying "I can listen to both simulneousely", how? Spotify does not allow playback on 2 devices simultaneously, unless you mean using a multi-zone distribution to play the same source I. 2 different rooms!
As a prime guy I love amazon unlimited for the price.. I've accidentally heard of artists I've enjoyed through Amazon Music... I personally only need the basics. If i want more its not hard to google, etc.. its all personal opinion. Its subjective I guess. . Thank you for the video.
Amazon needs a Full redesign for all the products, The Alexa's app is The only with a modern interface, everything Else looks like an 2007 or less design.
My gripes with both Spotify and Amazon Music: I like to listen to music while I walk. Spotify STOPS playing after a few songs and Amazon Music repeats the ad only endlessly! And TH-cam has 30 minute infomercials!! I know if I had premium unlimited I would have NO ADS! That’s what they want I’m sure!
Unlimited don't support HD music or FLAC compression right? How much kbps Amazon Unlimited have? Amazon Unlimited doesn't have to many podcasts as Spotify. Playlist are shorter than Spotify's playlists. And some albums aren't complete in Amazon. Finally the large amount of apps, wearables and gadgets it work with spotify are so many, not the case on Amazon Music. Does amazon music have the large amount of community and playlists as Spotify?
The reason why I use Amazon music is that it has one of the highest quality libraries of music. But I kind of miss the old Amazon look from 2019. The redesign when I went back to Amazon music in 2024 is kinda bad. But I still use it as I am now used to it.
There is good and bad to all streaming services. I currently have TH-cam music premium and Amazon HD. My son has Spotify and wants me to do the family plan. I like TH-cam because I can upload music from my cd collection on music no streaming services have. Audio quality is hit or miss though, similar to spotify. Amazon hd has the best audio of the 3 but I'm not sure i really like the app. Also Amazon likes to randomly remove music from the library. I might try Spotify, just to see what all the fuss is about. Spotify typically seems like the most popular choice.
Im one of those folks that spent to much money buying single songs on Amazon i wouldve saved hell money just getting subscription, but i found alot of new music on amazon. There's new artist that was listening and didnt save her music its driving me crazy that i cant find her music.
You said you like "high quality streaming", but neglected to bring up that Amazon Music Unlimited streams SD/HD/Ultra HD/Dolby Atmos/360 Reality Audio. Spotify doesn't offer this at all, just a watered down "Low, Normal, High, Very High". Seems a bit biased to me.
I thought that too until, I actually used Amazon music. In terms of UI they are both nice and easy to navigate and have great large music libraries the only difference I found between using the 2 is Spotify has a tool recommending songs you might like but if you are someone who has a set playlist that shouldn't matter too much. For sound quality though I'll keep it simple and say that Amazon Music and Spotify sounds the same as well. Unless if you pay the additional 2-3$ for Amazon music HD ( which in my opinion is 100% worth it if you enjoy GREAT audio ) I have a pair of Sennheiser 660's as my daily drivers and can say the sound quality is night and day! The music is a lot richer, clearer, rich, etc.) TLDR the base plans for each subscription they are the same basically with Spotify taking the edge with their cool discover feature.. However if you pay for Amazon music HD you are getting a better audio experience.
This is just probably because I'm a old fart, but I find I cannot delete listened to/music history on Amazon. Is there a way to accomplish this easily, or is Amazon making yet another thing difficult?
You have to go with Amazon Music UNLIMITED at an extra surcharge. Ordinary Amazon Prime Music has a much more limited catalog than either Unlimited or Spotify.

spotify's mobile UI needs some touch-up badly but other than that it's really hard to beat it for discovering you songs in the convenience that you get with it and honestly once you've invested in your playlist it's kind of hard to go to any other service after that. Spotify has been great since they actually have been introducing me to new music all the time however I hate the company and I even hate title since it's now owned by Jack Dorsey the dude who runs Twitter but quite really I hate the politics of these mainstream companies and that's what kills me. This is one of the services that I enjoy but they're owned by people who I really quite dislike but hey what are you do? I used to be that guy on iTunes that actually bought Music and on top of that was that person who actually had a huge library of CDs and audio but then one day I just kind of stopped listening to it. I still have a lot of CDs and audio that are kind of hard to find and Spotify does have a lot of stuff that is actually not listed and has a lot of problems with some of the tracks where there's actually errors in the music's and the recording itself. the best part about Spotify quite honestly is the people who make these playlist and that's really cool that's one of the reasons why I love it so much. after the last update, it's not so good on Android and on mobile and that's really my problem with it. It really struggles on the phone since the car version of it and the regular UI interact in a weird way with each other and actually makes it almost impossible to use. there are a lot of other weird rendering errors as well in that seriously something that's Spotify needs to take care of ASAP hopefully in the next update
I have amazon music and i wish i had spotify, amazon music mainly just has songs, i really like listening to anime openings but there is non on amazon music,
Hey Charles that was a pretty good review I almost asked questions without finishing the video lol , but my question is I already have amazon prime and like you said I could get a complete package and with less the monthly charge but could I have amazon music unlimited and be able to share /play different speakers at the same time or will it not allow me to do that ???
I have had spotify, apple music, google play music and even had groove for some time. I’m using amazon music now because I got 6 months with my echo dot.
Yeah, I've was on and off with Amazon Music HD. I just got back into it because of FLAC files, but the recommendations aren't too great. I'm sure they'll get better. I hope.
It would seem you came in with a predisposition, which is fine. We all have biases. But I think a few things left out was within the playlist, spotify pushes alot of cheaper to license music and bot manipulation leaves playlist more taylored towards spotify's best interest. Have had a Spotify account for 8 yrs before getting YTM free with my YT premium subscription. I still neglected YTM for 4 months. After finally giving it a legitimate shot. I moved away from spotify. Since YTM uses aac, the music is louder and has more detail. Even with the higher bitrate, this is because spotify normalizes their volume.
@@CharlesCleyn and yes one thing to tell you that. I live in india and the Amazon prime membership charges are 13.11 USD annually. In this we get all the services for 1 year like free fast delivery, video streaming, and music streaming! 😁
They fucked the spotify UI recently, especially the artist page which can't show all songs anymore. If you want to simply listen to all songs from a specific artist, you have to create a playlist and add all the songs one album at a time. I hope it goes back to how it used to be.
@@CharlesCleyn You have done an amazing review. Just right. Very credible and honest review. I want to go with Spotify prem. but I have Amazon prime. It is important to reduce the quality when you are using cell phone or running outdoors. You covered ability to adjust quality in Spotify, we know Amazion has HD sound, not all people can hear all frequencies, and have good headset, it could be waste of bandwidth usage. Key question is which service can deliver best sound at lowest bandwidth and with prefix titles based on mood settings. I'm currently using TH-cam Video, with ads it turned out to a terrible interface, and Alexa Amazon music is not bad with voice commands, some poeple may not like like the idea Amazon is listening to them 24x7. I like the Spotify interface, looks very European, has humanistic social concept and like to see the concerts associated with artists.
I have prime so amazon music is part of the package but the user interface is so bad. I like Spotify - Best for cross-compatibility and podcasts; and Teatube - App to play TH-cam music in background iPhone and Android while using other apps.
You only talked about all of the features that each one did or didn't have but music is all about listening with ears and you didn't talk about the sound quality between the two which of course is hugely important. 🤔
I always used SoundCloud because of the rappers but can’t stand the ads. I know I can just get SoundCloud go but they don’t have an app for Apple car play so that’s a big downer. Now idk if I should go with Spotify or amazon?
For the people who say AM is not available on ps4 I use Spotify cause it’s free on web browsers and game consoles and I’d rather do that then spend another 2 bucks
I switched back to Spotify today. TH-cam Music is beyond horrible. It’s the worst app, of any kind, that I have ever used. Nothing else even comes close. It’s indescribably shitty.
For me apple music is best so far in terms of quality. But Amazon music got better in last few years and it’s not too bad now. Most of the artists i listen and their albums are available. I also got free 4 months trial so no complaints
This is a very flawed review, because he is using the Spotify app but using Amazon Music in a browser window. I mean what the hell did he expect when he didn't even get to experience the actual interface? Amazon Music has a fantastic interface that is easy to navigate if you ACTUALLY DOWNLOAD IT?!
If you want good "SOUND" then Amazon is for you, if you want the glam of Facebook style of tracking everyone and everyone you speak with and weak audio.... then Spotify is for you. Oh and take the time to download the app for your PC before doing a review.
spotify has an advantage of well known and underrated podcast(s). BUT if they bundle it, prime delivery/video/music all together, ill definitely buy into that.

I have amazon music and i wish i had spotify, amazon music mainly just has songs, i really like listening to anime openings but there is non on amazon music,
Start the free trial to get an idea
Just use the free version of spotify for anime music and amazon music for everything else.
Hi Fernando, I believe yes that is definitely possible to do with amazon unlimited
Nice video buddy, helped me make my choice (or at least first trial period choice lol)
I have had spotify, apple music, google play music and even had groove for some time. I’m using amazon music now because I got 6 months with my echo dot.
Sane here. Not feeling the apps though. Spotify connects more reliably to my Echos.
Music purchases from Amazon Music is a waste of money. Your purchase is not yours. What a rip off.
I actually have amazon music for a year now and the algorythm is still very weak in terms of recommendations etc...
Interesting, that's too bad. How much music are you listening to on a daily basis? Over 1 hour?
Yeah, I've was on and off with Amazon Music HD. I just got back into it because of FLAC files, but the recommendations aren't too great. I'm sure they'll get better. I hope.
After that last update spotify started to suck... I'm looking for a replacement now
I haven't tried Spotify before. I don't know why. Guess I got stuck in the jungle. 🙂
Amazon unlimited is missing the hunger ost 1983 Bowie vampire Romp though USA ver. has it. Spotify may have it.
Amazon music has "My Discovery Mix"
I am in a lot of jpop and Spotify have it but use CDs and iTunes but love Spotify because it is free and some just to buy on iTunes
Spotify will be releasing hd audio later this year it was announced
Sill waiting.2022 and no change.
I'm in search of this video! Thanks for that. 🙏🏽
You're very welcome, what are you thinking of going with?
@@CharlesCleyn I'm with the ruling streaming service Spotify! 💪🏽
@@46Ryanrahman I'll agree with you there!
@@CharlesCleyn and yes one thing to tell you that. I live in india and the Amazon prime membership charges are 13.11 USD annually. In this we get all the services for 1 year like free fast delivery, video streaming, and music streaming! 😁
And try Mus Conv for transfer music between apps
They fucked the spotify UI recently, especially the artist page which can't show all songs anymore. If you want to simply listen to all songs from a specific artist, you have to create a playlist and add all the songs one album at a time. I hope it goes back to how it used to be.
Advise: you could have done this in 5 mins
maybe
I agree about Amazon.
The interface is much better now it's like Playstation 5 UI now.
Terrible interface. Shame.
I'm sure someone has told you that the Amazon Prime Music library now includes their entire 100 million songs.
anyone having the issue with not getting the indicators for ultra had even paid for amazon prime unlimited please help.
what's the specific issue you're having trouble with?
Never mentioned audio resolutions, should have been your first data point 👎
Most certainly.
You only talked about all of the features that each one did or didn't have but music is all about listening with ears and you didn't talk about the sound quality between the two which of course is hugely important. 🤔
Very poor review. Not a lot about the quality of the audio.
I always used SoundCloud because of the rappers but can’t stand the ads. I know I can just get SoundCloud go but they don’t have an app for Apple car play so that’s a big downer. Now idk if I should go with Spotify or amazon?
spotify.
When your mum doesnt want you to get prime music cause she adapted to spotify lol
I use amazon music so I can get Garth Brooks because he doesn’t allow his music anywhere else.
ah a true fan
take amazon music is so good
i use echo dot and amazon prime and use amazon music
For the people who say AM is not available on ps4 I use Spotify cause it’s free on web browsers and game consoles and I’d rather do that then spend another 2 bucks
Thanks for letting us know!
I was using Google Music, but they killed it in favor of pushing a YT Music thing, which sucks in comparison. Guess I'll be changing back to Spotify.
I switched back to Spotify today. TH-cam Music is beyond horrible. It’s the worst app, of any kind, that I have ever used. Nothing else even comes close. It’s indescribably shitty.
Great review .
Very High, Always!!! Hahahahahaha
I love amazon because you get better streaming quality
better than tidal?
@@CharlesCleyn yes but not really
cool, thanks for answering
I hate Deezer
Really was looking for the sound quality 🤷♂️
I like spotify more.
Great review, Charles. Thanks for all you do.
For me apple music is best so far in terms of quality. But Amazon music got better in last few years and it’s not too bad now. Most of the artists i listen and their albums are available. I also got free 4 months trial so no complaints
Bruh it took me all day to watch this vid lol
Oh that’s a good sound you got there , it’s catching the warm bass notes 😄 niiiiiiCe
Where?
Hey great video man!!!
Hey Connor, thanks man. Hope you're keeping well right now!
True I did miss out on Amazon mobile but I was comparing desktops in the video
@@CharlesCleyn I was refering to the desktop app.
Easy interface? What have you been smoking? It's the pits.
i got immediately uninterested in Amazon music when i saw football mixed into music. what a damn plague!
i also thought was odd
Dude you so calm let me get some of that weed
If you want good "SOUND" then Amazon is for you, if you want the glam of Facebook style of tracking everyone and everyone you speak with and weak audio.... then Spotify is for you. Oh and take the time to download the app for your PC before doing a review.
spotify has an advantage of well known and underrated podcast(s). BUT if they bundle it, prime delivery/video/music all together, ill definitely buy into that.
Good point Jan
Great review thank you and good lunch on your journey
thanks very much armando!
very good lunch
Amazon music is 8.99
I keep feeling like I’m the weird one cos everyone has Spotify but Amazon music works well for me
Plus it's included with Prime so it's a no brainier
stopped watching as soon as I heard that there's amazon prime music and amazon unlimited music
Cool
@@CharlesCleyn That wasn't a stab at your content rather amazon prime music but ok
thanks man :)
Fuck Amazon, I'm fuming my app was faulty, i uninstalled and reinstalled the app now my playlist worth of 4000 songs is gone
Does anyone remember Sony’s music unlimited service?
No what was it called?
