Soul with a Capital "S:" Produced by Phil Spector and his wall of sound. This is why they are ALL in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, ( Bill, Bobby & Phil)

The lyrics, the harmony, the contrasts, they were “ours”! My generation, they were ours in my teen years! I love your reaction!

BMI ranked as radio's most requested and played song of the 20th century. Sadly, Bobby is gone, but Bill Medley is still going strong with tours and concerts. Bill had a number one hit in 1987 with "Time of My Life", a duet with Jennifer Warnes from the Movie "Dirty Dancing".

And I bet back in their day elder folks were saying: "What is wrong with this generation?! The music of my day back in the 20s and 30s was so much better!"
Every generation says the same thing.

@@caribbeanman3379 I understand where you are coming from & it is true what you say. But I enjoyed Big Band & Jazz music before my birth. I enjoyed rockabilly, Little Richard & most of the artists of the 50's. I enjoyed classic rock, soul, R & B, & most of the music of the 60's, 70's, 80's & 90's. But to me most of the lyrics & melodies today do not move me. I respect your opinion & I may be wrong but there are many people with feelings like me on this subject.

@@calebwitt207 I agree with you both. However, being 74 and having heard a _lot_ of music, I must say that modern popular music seems to me to be mostly about "hooks" and "beats" and not about lyrics or meaning. Modern popular music is just ... forgettable. It may be catchy for a while and get your toes tapping, but 5 minutes after you've listened to it, you can't remember the melody, much less the words ... if there _were_ any. Of course, much older music was also forgettable. But, still ... the older stuff just seems to have been more lovingly crafted. It just seems like the composer put more into working it all out, both lyrically and melodically. Way too much modern pop music seems to have been produced by a robotic AI churning out "tunes" to feed the maw of the beast. At least, that's the way I experience it.

Grew up on this back in Bklyn. My mom and old man would play the oldies in the crib. To be honest, can't listen to the new music. I love youtube because one can go back in time to when music was real.

This was the kind of music we, and probably also you're mum and dad were listening too in dancehalls and places were you where meet other boys and girls. And in those establishments is where you find your first girl or boyfriend. You can't do that nowadays anymore, the music(if you can call it music) is that loud that you need ecstasy to handle it. No!!! bring me back to the 60e and 70e that was good music.

If you haven't had this recommendation before, PLEASE try Pentatonix cover of the song "Hallelujah". It reminded me that, in fact, there are still a few younger generation performers who are blessed with raw TALENT 🤩 Happy and blessed New Year to you and your loved ones 😇

It's impossible to read a mind, but fun to try. My ears are old, and there was no button for CCing your words, so I carefully transcribed the following. I hope I got most of it correct:
PetiteDiva - 6:10 : "...It makes sense!...{Cardi B comments omitted }...This is the kind of song that I like to listen to. This is the kind of song that --- it just makes you feel good! And this is the kind of song that has a simple meaning."
So, here's a recommendation: Josh Turner - Would You Go With Me (Official Video) th-cam.com/video/uFz61X2PQTw/w-d-xo.html
    I hope you like it.
I hope your day is going well.
