I can never get too much of Jenny Doan. She is such a sweetheart to do all these endless numbers of quilts for the millions of us around the world who always wanted to learn how to make wonderful quilts for ourselves, our families and friends, and for charities.
I was going to make a quick hostess gift for this July 4th weekend, and now I know it will be a table runner! Nothing like waiting till the last minute- but that’s what stash is for! Thank you
Yvonne, you’re not alone, I seem to wait until the last minute as well. I blame it on the fact that I can’t figure out exactly which pattern I want to use. A couple of years ago I even made a queen size rag quilt in 2.5 days, in purples and teal for my daughters birthday. To make it even harder on myself, i made the backing layout in a pattern that allowed the quilt to be reversible. In the end she loved her new quilt & I was exhausted, but so happy I was able to do it for her birthday. 😊
I’m finishing a quilt (actually a throw) that I put away after last year’s 4th of family celebration was cancelled. Did I just pull it out a month ago to finish it? YEP! And 2 days ago figured out I didn’t have enough fabric for the backing and had to order more……..I think it may be a long night! But it is for my SIL who goes all out for this celebration!
I seem to have more charms because I see them and purchase them without a plan for them. Now I can sew away!! I also really like it when the camera is behind Jenny to see the sewing as she does.
Love the tip about drawing a line. I make a lot of placemats using this method, and sometimes I slide off into oblivion, especially if I am watching TV and not paying attention.
This is just the idea I needed for a quilt border! It’s a handprint quilt from a Lake Shasta water skiing trip we did with most of our 17 grandchildren, our kids and the fun time we had & to remember by the quilt bordered by ‘the waves’! 🥰
This is wonderful! Not only can I make for myself, but in different colors for my daughters. One daughter has asked for a table runner for her schools fundraiser where she teaches. This will be fabulous!
I just watched your video. Its 12:28 in the morning here in Idaho and I can't wait for the sun to come up so I can make this beautiful table runner! Love you Jenny ❤
Thank you so much 😊 your tutorial was terrific! Start to finish - every step! Your tips on keeping it from getting wonky will Keep me lined up 😆 thank you for all you do for the quilting community ❤️
I trim a quilt the same way, using the outside border as a guide. Love a simple pattern, and you can’t go wrong with the red, white and blue! Everyone have a safe and happy 4th of July!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Fantastic table runner - I have so many charm packs that need to be used, and this pattern is perfect. Thx Jenny and crew for another fabulous and accomplishable project!
This was fun to watch. Thanks for showing how you trim up your quilts, your way is much easier than the way I have been using. I've done lots of your other quilt-as-you-go projects, they are wonderful.
My little table is too small for a runner but I see placemats! Im sitting in my trailer at the rv park in Hamilton, waiting for the shops to open. Just added that charm pack to my shopping list. Going to melt my credit card today!
I’m so jealous that you will get to visit Hamilton and all their shops. Have a fun time shopping and ogling all those wonderful fabrics. Enjoy on behalf of all us quilters who haven’t been there.
Jenny, I LOOOOVE your tutorials! Even on allegedly super easy projects you can learn something new. Keep going, because honestly what would I do without your help? 😆
Very pretty! I love table runners. For Christmas, I'm making several themed table runners for gifts. Spring, Halloween, Christmas, etc. I have so much fabric and so many charm packs. This will help bust that stash! :)
Jenny this was perfect timing. I want a runner for my tables and was wondering what to make. I can change the fabric for each and be done in no time. Thank you so much for doing this wonderful table runner. God bless y’all.
Lovely patriotic quilt and yes my QAYG pieces seem to sew together but never in a straight line. I like the idea of drawing a line first, such a simple elegant solution
Thank you for sharing your time and experience with so many people. Definitely going to make this one and I will share it with you when I’m done a picture. I Especially love the triple play.
This is the perfect QAYG table runner I could easily for any season. Thanks MSQC and Jenny. I hope this pattern will be in the next Block Idea Book that I’m subscribed to ☺️
Love the QAYG approach. Much as I love my longarmer, a lot of times I want to do it myself. I just don't have the room in my condo to quilt anything very big so QAYG is the answer!
Wow! Jenny this runner is awesome!! I have added this pattern to my to do list. Thank you for teaching so well. You definitely are my favorite quilter friend 🙂. And again, you are looking fantastic ❤️
This is a great project for people who have never done QAYG . Thank you Jenny for another great tutorial. Happy 4th of July to you and everyone at MSQC
This is my favorite 4th of July fabric collection. The colors are stunning! I look forward to all of your tutorials Jenny! Thanks for another fun and quick project!
This was good to see the powder to glue the batting and backing together used as I have it but have never used it. This would be a great way to use the powder but also make a great runner. If you used a different season on the back but bound with a color that worked with both sides you could have a two season table runner! Thanks 😊
I appreciate your tutorials so much. You have tutorials that are easy for us beginners. I especially love the table runner tutorials. I actually bought the pattern for this and made one. I am so proud of how it turned out. Hope you come out with an easy fall table runner tutorial. You are just awesome!!!
Thank you Jenny! This is so beautiful and can be done for so many holidays and seasons! O my creative juices are flowing - unfortunately I have 2 quilts to finish TODAY!
Love this runner! I’ve been making so many patriotic things this year and loving it! I have the perfect fabric for this! ♥️ Thank you for sharing! Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Many blessings!
I like the pattern, unfortunately I can't use runers for something, but it is a really good idea for a Christmas present. Thank you Jenny for this tutorial, love 😃
Watching you through the entire process was great! I enjoy learning from you and appreciate your clear instructions. You move so fast but your voice always stays calm and steady. How do you do that?! :)
Jenny, you make everything look so easy! I believe your fabrics, machine, and all, know and respect you; they behave for you. (Mine know that I am clueless, so they prank me often!) Thanks for your wonderful tutorials!
My table seems to accumulate 'stuff' at the unused end (just 2 of us now), so don't use a runner. Going to make us some placemats instead! Love the idea of marking your outside edges...keeps things from looking like a landslide happened! Another fun tutorial, Jenny. Thank your entire staff for us and Happy 4th to all!

I am right there with you Yvonne! I learned that from my Mom and we call it the Dorothy’s School of last minute sewing!

I finished my 4th of July runner yesterday! 😊 I lost my beautiful sewing buddy kitty on Monday and I had such a hard time making myself sew!!😥
@@kathyday7911 I’m so sorry you lost your sewing buddy, Kitty. I know your pain. 🙁
