  • I wanted to give you all a video tour of the Missouri Star Quilt Company shops in Hamilton, MO! It's very spur of the moment and unedited fun so I hope you enjoy it! Leave me a comment and let me know what you thought of the video. It is a little bouncy as this was my first time filming a video with a selfie stick. Sorry!

Thanks so much! I have learned so much from you and Jenny over the past few months.
l never thought I would be able to quilt but have just completed two for new babies. I am now working on a third for a housewarming gift.
I enjoy your warm approachable mannerisms!
    Keep it up, Vanessa!

Wow - I had no idea! Really curious exactly how they accomplish order fulfillment for their online business since customers might purchase from several different "stores" - gives me a headache just to think about it! The best part was the man cave, because most men will suffer through ONE quilt shop - but half a dozen - NO WAY!!!! Loved to see Jenny in her Diva Den too. Kudos to Jenny for helping to revitalize a small town. I hope to visit one day!!

We have a Jo-Ann Fabric here in Muskegon Mi and when I walked into their enlarged store I am sure I heard a choir. I probably would hyperventilate being around all of that beautiful fabric at Missouri Star quilt company Yes, I would need a brown paper bag because I am sure I would be hyperventilating. LOL

I would LOVE to visit Hamilton and "go crazy" in all these shops. In a few months, I am moving to Cape Girardeau, MO, and I just looked up online how long it takes to drive from Cape to Hamilton. I need to know if you know the name of the fabric on the wall in Jenny's room.. Looking at 5:02-5:05 time of this video.. its on the wall in the left corner. It's got block edging and applique flowers.. looks to be in the purple family.. Do you know? Can you find out? I have a bride who would love those colors.
    THANKS!!

Yes, it was a little bouncy - but it kinda felt more Vanessa-personal that way. I had a couple of reactions while watching it -- and they made me smile.
#1 - I was surprised by all the different shops MSQC has as I hadn't been keeping up with their blog and online retail site and all the changes that have taken place since their first couple of years. I'm surprised the City Council hasn't made a sign as you enter the town, "Hamilton, Missouri -- Home of Missouri Star Quilt Company" or have they?).
#2 - I thought, gosh! I'll bet MSQC is kicking themselves, wishing they'd done a video with a tour like you did.
    # 3 - Seeing Jenny's workspace was quite interesting. Lots going on there.
#4 - I wondered if you had kinda done the "Don't ask, don't tell" thing by going out on your own and seemingly made the video as as last minute thought when you woke up that morning because some of the staff seemed surprised to see you doing it.
#5 - When Jenny's son of the IT Dept (I can't remember his name) showed up with another guy (also a family member?), it reminded me of a western with the sheriff showing up in the saloon when someone else in town had run into the sherfiff's office to tell him a "Wanted" man was at the bar! Ha! I guess he was checking out exactly what it was that you were doing with your camera. I can't remember any pictures of prices ...
I do know they knew you were there because you'd been invited to be an instructor at the retreat, and had already done a video with Jenny on another occasion. But the surprise element of your camera added to excitement. You did a nice job on your "show and tell" and made me wish I was there to enjoy the retreat and the fellowship of other quilters. And inspite of the sheriff showing up, I think you deserve a presentation fee from their marketing department; more people will want to shop there after seeing what's available. Thanks for doing it - it was so fun to watch!

My only critisism is that the camera was moving too quickly. With that outa the way ;) I want to say THANK YOU for taking the time to do this. Wow; there is so much to show and see and I think you did a great job hitting on everything. I like how you were friendly to everyone. I am so glad you chose to film while on the street and talk about other businesses that are around because if people want to visit, they will already be ever-so-slightly familiar with what is within walking distance. Even that small amount helps with anxiety of the unfamiliar for people like me. You seem like such a natural on camera. Well done!

I had no idea there were so many shops. I thought it was just one. My only complaint of your video, is you twirled the camera too much, that can make some people dizzy. Maybe, have it show what you're seeing, as you go forward. Then we see it as we would a customer, and not of just your face. You have a nice face though, but seeing everything backwards is confusing. Thanks for the tour.

I have never been to Hamilton, Missouri, but use to pass through Kansas City while flying to Minot, North Dakota years ago. Those shops are looking great and have so much material in each store and they must be busy getting orders ready for people who order online. Thanks for showing us around the shops and all that great looking material, but I didn't see any tools in those shops for working with material and I know someone has to have some for their customers and I am still looking for some tools now since I could not find everything I needed locally.

I was very interested in seeing the fabric selection more closely, especially the civil war fabrics but you were walking WAY to fast to have me see anything closely. Errrr! How will I know if it is worth the trip.

I couldn't watch. The constant movement of the camera and out-of-focus results was making me feel ill. And if you pointed the camera at the store and the people there, we'd actually see what you're trying to show. As the camera person, you don't need to be in every shot. I will add that you're a beautiful young woman and you speak so clearly, it's a pleasure to listen to you.

Vanessa you are absolutely wonderful thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. Going to Hamilton is on my wish list things to do before you die. All that fabric wonderful! Thank you for your crafty videos well you know that desk tidy I made mine into the shape of a tug boat and put silly things in it for my son who was in hospital having a replacement knee as I made it out of Hot Air Balloon material. He comes to all the Balloon Meets in America his comment I bet you got that fabric from the States - yep he was right. Thank you again for your tutorials they give great pleasure. Best Wishes from Shirley Campion UK

Great Video. I knew they had multiple shops, but I didn't know that it was quite that much! I do wonder what happened in the batik shop? You only showed half the store (the left side) but never really showed the right side? Is there fabric on the right side too?

Definitely enjoy this kind of video seeing what is there thank you. I do wish you moved a little slower to not make us dizzy, and stayed on what you were showing a few seconds longer... some of us old folks couldn't adjust our eyes quick enough lol

I enjoyed the tour. What a great salesperson you are. I am going right to the website. Many fabric shops near me have folded. It’s nice to know I can get such a great variety of fabrics.
