  • The next step in getting closer to start up is setting up the Distributor on a F135 motor, but the same applies to all petrol Landcruiser motors, F, 2F, 3F and many other Petrol motors.
Correction - The dot is 7° advance.

That is great. I am waiting to get my block back from the engine builder after having the cam bearing changed. Thanks Jason.

That motor is a work of art. I wish this video was around when I was doing this the first time. For those that come by this that have never been through this process, you’ll want to make sure #1 is at TDC on the compression stroke and NOT the exhaust stroke. The easiest way I’ve found to to this is to take the valve cover off and wiggle both rockers on #1 when it’s getting close to the top. If they both wiggle a little, you’re in the compression stroke.

Hi , really nice looking engine you've got there, credit to you.
I've got a never been apart carburetted 3F , not to different from a 2F with a 440F trans in a "86 FJ62 I've owned for 25 years and over 700k km on the clock. Slug, normally! But what ive done is first of all the dwell angle, they seem very sensitive to the right one, which means a 0.29mm gap in my case, smaller than specified. But the biggest difference was changing the advance, standard springs but return to retard is now when the weights are 2mm out from their natural return point. So at idle the timing is advanced but total advance is the standard, It transformed takeoff. Much more responsive of idle.
It seems that Toyota has set up the timing for questionable fuel quality, probably for underdeveloped countries. A 2.5" free flowing exhaust helps heeps and headers as well, helps them rev and develop HP at the top end.
Maybe I'm telling you old news but maybe just some hints to keep up with normal traffic?

Gday, you have to mention you have both valves closed on no1, could be one rotation out.

G'day Wonderfust, start by checking your timing, plugs, and leads.
