Congratulations brother, I have a fj40 model 71 with which I started to make a paint fix and it turned out to dismantle everything, when after 3 years we started the engine again it was an impressive emotion, I am currently waiting for some money to continue with the assembly but with many want to continue, greetings of colombia.

    Really great video...
love the works you carried out on this build.
Wanted to ask if you recommend installing an HEI with the original drive gear from the OEM distributor, because i heard you comment about running an HEI.
Your response will be highly appreciated

Hey Wilfred, I've seen the HEI run on the folks rigs. I personally don't have any experience with them, but from what I understand it is a solid option. Good luck!

Thanks for the video. Very informative. I have a 72 FJ40 with the original 1F engine. It has a Holly 350 carb. that I was about to rebuild. How has that carb. you used worked out.

I only have a few miles on the carb at the moment. So far no issues, will report back after I get some more miles on it. Thanks for watching!

@@musiccitycruisers3863 Quick Question - Update on the Carb? Thanks for the videos they are very helpful. I am seriously considering the Carb you mentioned in lieu of rebuilding my Holley. Any updates, is it still performing for you?

Dude, How long do you crank the drill for to get oil pressure at the top end ?

  • @jonathanhandsmusic

Very good! I was wondering how the cheap Chinese carb worked out. If you swapped it out for an Aisin, or left it in. Beautiful old 40! My 60 wants to be a 40, but it’s still running good for an old 1987.

Hey Jonathan ... well I only managed to get 20 miles on it before I damaged the transfer case and had to park it ☹️
During that 20 miles it ran great! I’ll get some more miles on it this summer and will report back. Thanks for watching

What are the dimensions of the engine?. Need to replace my 3.0V6 Toyota engine. Wonder if I can fit this engine in my 4Runner with a lift kit.

Hey I have an fj40 with a 2f engine from 1979 and it needs new piston rings and gaskets. I'm somewhat new to the car scene so it would be really helpful to know what are the gaskets that I need to change and how to know the ring size the engine needs. do you guys know if there's a source where I can find this?
