    If you don't consider the 1967 ford galaxie 500 a muscle car, then I understand why you don't. The GTO, Chevelle, Road Runner, Super Bee where all considered to be muscle cars. The Galaxie was something that was more luxurious and less performance minded. That doesn't mean the galaxie doesn't pack enough punch or have the cool curves and body design to be a muscle car. Even the 7 liter versions were fast, but not fast enough against the hemis and cobra jet engines of the day. 50 years later and the rare, hard to find muscle cars have been scooped up and the price tags are outrageous. Well, the Galaxie provides an awesome platform to build your own muscle car. Hell, I've had three of them if you can count the 67 Country Squire. I also own a 65 GTO and the 67 390 can hold its own with some minor tweaking. Also, the strange thing was that the Galaxie always recruited MORE attention than the Pontiac GTO. Everyone loves the Galaxie. If you remove some of the old man trim, lower her down a bit and add some nice exhaust and a few engine mods, you're in business.
    he Ford Galaxie is a full-sized car that was built in the United States by Ford for model years 1959 through to 1974. The name was used for the top models in Ford's full-size range from 1958 until 1961, in a marketing attempt to appeal to the excitement surrounding the Space Race. For 1962, all full-size Fords wore the Galaxie badge, with "500" and "500/XL" denoting the higher series. The Galaxie 500/LTD was introduced for 1965 followed by the Galaxie 500 7-Litre for 1966. The Galaxie 500 prefix was dropped from the LTD in 1966, and from the XL in 1967;[2] however the basic series structuring levels were maintained. The "regular" Galaxie 500 continued below the LTD as Ford's mid-level full-size model from 1965 until its demise at the end of the 1974 model yearThe 1965 Galaxie was an all-new design, featuring vertically stacked dual headlights. The cars were taller and bulkier than the previous year's. The new top-of-the-line designation was the Galaxie 500 LTD and Galaxie 500 XL. The LTD and the XL trim package were accessory upgrades from the base Galaxie model. Engine choices were the same as 1964, except for an all-new 240 cu in (3.9 L) six-cylinder engine replacing the 1950s-era 223 "Mileage-Maker" six and the 352 was now equipped with dual exhausts and a four-barrel carburetor.
    For 1967, the 7 Litre model no longer carried the Galaxie name; it was to be the last year of it being separately identified. That identification was mainly trim such as horn ring and dashboard markings as well as the "Q" in the Vehicle Identification Number. The 7 Litre for 1967 was a trim and performance option on the Ford XL, which was now a separate model as well.[2] Little else changed, except for trim and the styling; the same engines were available, from the 240 cu. inch six-cylinder to the 428 cu. inch V8. Modifications to the styling included adding a major bend in the center of the grille and making the model less "boxy" than the 1966 model. An 8-track tape cartridge player became an option.[28] Back-up lights were standard.[29]
    For 1967 all Fords featured a large, padded hub in the center of the plastic steering wheel, along with an energy-absorbing steering column (introduced late into the 1967 model year),[29] padded interior surfaces, recessed controls on the instrument panel, and front outboard shoulder belt anchors. Another safety related change was the introduction of the dual brake master cylinder used on all subsequent Galaxies (and other Ford models).
    The 1968 model had a new grille with headlights arranged horizontally, although the body was essentially the same car from the windshield back. The 'long hood, short deck' style with a more upright roofline and a notchback rear was followed too, as was the new trend for concealed headlights on the XL and LTD. One other change for 1968 was that the base V8 engine increased from 289 to 302 cu in (4.9 L). Standard equipment included courtesy lights, a cigarette lighter, a suspended gas pedal, and padded front seat backs.[30]
    The 1968 models featured additional safety features, including side marker lights and shoulder belts on cars built after December 1, 1967. The 1967 model's large steering wheel hub was replaced by a soft "bar" spoke that ran through the diameter of the wheel (and like the 1967 style, was used throughout the Ford Motor Company line). A plastic horn ring was also featured.

    ahhh from 1970 to 1971 I owned a 67 Galaxy 500, Fire engine red with custom black interior. Small block V8. But it had 3 on the tree with overdrive. Would sure love to find another one for the price I paid for mine as in as good of shape. $1800 in 1970.

    From 1975 to 1983 my mom had a '67 Ford Galaxie 500 fastback; 351 Windsor, electric windows, cold A/C; a real clean creampuff...green with a black landau top...she swore it had a "magic carburator" cuz it got damn good gas mileage for such a big car...long story short, it was stolen in 1983. She still talks about that car 40 yrs later.

    Just rebuilt the C6 tranny in my 67 galaxie and it wasn’t $800 for the rebuild kit. Closer to $200 for master rebuild kit. Sweet car! I like the modern seats, I might steal that idea for my car. Love the channel bro

    I just bought one for $6000. Not in that kind of condition either. The guy didn't want to sell it but needed the $. '67 Galaxie Fastback. Mine has original motor and tranny and even the double barrel carburetor.

    • @ModernGreaser
      @ModernGreaser  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Didn't want to mess with locking the front wheels and since the driveshaft was already out, we toed in on the rear wheels.

    😆 "12 feet"
    I bought a '67 Galaxie Fastback with original motor and transmission. Fixing to overhaul it. I paid $6000 for mine. Body is just as straight as this one but interior needs love as does the paint. Super excited except for Biden's America is making it too expensive to rebuild a car nowadays.

    Ive been stuck on this car vs a 65 falcon. Dont like how small the falcon is and without mods the engine is limited

    • @ModernGreaser
      @ModernGreaser  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Falcons are cool, but the Galaxie is a nice underdog of the car world if they are done right. You never see them and they have great lines like a 67 GTO.

    I'm about to start up a 289 67 for the first time in 15 years any tips???!!n

    • @ModernGreaser
      @ModernGreaser  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is what I did for my 65 GTO that sat on a farm for 10 years. If you're not in a rush, pull the spark plugs out and spray lubricant into the spark plug holes. Pb blaster etc. I used WD40, but I'm not sure how good that was for the engine. Engine oil might be better. You could then drain the oil if you want, I didn't. An engine "wants to run" so with any luck, if there wasn't anything catastrophic prior, it will probably just fire right up. If you haven't already, new points, rotor, condenser, plugs, wires, fresh gas. The carb is always going to be the pain in the neck. I bought a remanufactured Holley for $150. Worth every penny. Carbs are usually the biggest issue.

    Needs tires not rubber bands
    Totally clashes with the style.
    The FE engines the way to go but parts more of a chore to find than the 351. They are torque monsters

      Absolutely! The day you saw it on the trailer, the car was in route to get some of the suspension worked on. As soon as that beast hits the road, I will make an episode. The next episode will feature the super rare 2019 ford GT. It will look at the in-depth application process required to be one of the 1,000 people in the world even allowed to purchase the car from Ford. Thanks for watching!
