      The question comes down to the rules under 00s the warriors will struggle to score 70 points
      With current rules it gets tricky becuase you have to imagine how much BETTER the pistons scorers will be with a lack of physical pressure
      And have access to Moving screens and gather steps and a lack of carring rules

    • @VoltageMarvel
      @VoltageMarvel หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Explain how a rule change (that didn't effect much for guards, I'd anything, made it easier for guards to play offensively at the time) would change those three bombing it from the 3 point line?
      And offensively better? The pistons were a dogshit offensive team even for their time. And now you suddenly think they are going to be way better?
      The gap defensively is significantly shorter than the gap offensively. Gsw in 4

    Marz broke it down perfectly. The gap in scoring with the 3 point shooting makes it hard to compare across eras. Shooting 33% from 3 is the same as 50% from 2. Warriors will shoot well above 33% from 3 so its going to be hard to exchange 2s for 3s. Warriors will win. If you say a team like Pistons will now just match them and shoot much more 3s, then you have now changed the way they played as a team and their offense

    Shooting 33% from 3 is the same as 50% from 2, those Warriors shot 40% from 3 as a team against opponents that learned how to guard 3 pointers.
    The Pistons just wouldnt know how to stop that team.
    They would let them shoot and get cooked, then they would overplay to stop the 3s and give up open dunks every possesion, then they would start to switch everything and they would get stucked with Chauncey Billups guarding KD on the post or Ben Wallace guarding Curry on ISO at 35 feet. If were to analogize this in terms of NFL, this would be like a team having Randy Moss, Antonio Brown, Tony Gonzales, Mike Alstott, solid O Line, Tom Brady, and an advanced reactive offensive scheme; and believing that the 1985 Chicago Bears would shut them down.
    We mythologize these old teams to an excessive degree, even making way for some favorable counterfactuals but never do the same in the reverse.
    Ex. "If person X was in today's era, they would average 50 Points"!!!! Nobody ever asks how good Prime Kawhi would be as an individual defender with 1990 rules and schemes.

    It's not just one team shooting 3s and one team shooting mid-range jumpers. That mid range team is also getting more "and 1s" leading to shooting more free throws. That is also causing foul trouble for the other team. Going to the foul line will also assist in greater offensive consistency, as opposed to the 3 game which can be more hot or cold.

    • @sergeistalin7916
      @sergeistalin7916 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The problem that is that GS is going to be more efficient in the midrange and at the paint too.
      Shooting 33% from 3 is the same as 50% from 2. Warriors shot 40% as a team in an era in which teams already learned that they had to guard the 3 and how to at least avoid easy 3s.
      GS doesnt matter if they are hot or not from 3, against them you have to always guard them as if they are hot because letting them make 2 shots can end in Klay or Curry scoring 8 3s in a row.
      That creates missmatch problems and openings in rotations.

  • @Nightmare-we8vm

    Marz is exactly right. Yes, teams can adjust, but the biggest difference between today's game and previous eras is the understanding of the game. There are no rules against teams building what the Pistons had in 04. The reason teams don't build that way anymore is because 1v1 matchups are far less viable when teams are able to run 2 man on an island and the help defender is punished with open threes. People are calling Gobert a fraud for not being able to guard Luka in space. Teams switch because guards can shoot over screens and the coaches have realized that if you set screens further back the guard can drive into a 3pt pull up instead of a deep middy. The Pistons would have to make many adjustments like possibly sitting DPOY Ben Wallace because Curry and Draymond are nasty on the high ball screen and Wallace is never gonna be near the rim.
