    I’m a hairdresser and I love your result, well done. The only advice I would give you is don’t use 30 vol to tone. The point of the toner is to deposit tone so use a lower peroxide, hairdressers will usually use a 1.5% or 9 vol to tone but beware, the toner will work faster so watch it closely so you don’t tone out your highlights completely. Your toner will also last longer this way. I’m guessing that your toner washed out quite quickly, this is because of the 30 vol. Hope this helps ♥️

      I tried 30vol developer with the loreal hicolor dye in golden ginger and got lifted roots but didn't work on the rest of my hair. Would you recommend 40vol developer with a bonder like olaplex with this dye instead?

    • @vintagebabyseventythree6244
      @vintagebabyseventythree6244 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@HandbagChinwag if you’re hair is already coloured the only thing that will lift it is bleach. Golden rule- colour does not lift colour. Never use 40 vol. watch Hair Budda, he does a great video about lightening hair correctly. Good luck 🤞🏽

    • @vintagebabyseventythree6244
      @vintagebabyseventythree6244 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@HandbagChinwag those colours are great. They were called Majicontrast in my day 😂 and yes, they could lift through coloured hair. However, lift is always hindered on levels 4 and below even if you have virgin hair. To avoid root glow, colour your ends first and your roots last. Use a lower oxidant on the roots.

    • @HandbagChinwag
      @HandbagChinwag 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@vintagebabyseventythree6244 thank you for the tips! Much appreciated! I think it may still be called that here in Australia. While I would love to get my hair coloured professionally with Covid it just doesn't seem worth it. That's why I'm opting to colour at home. The hicolor magenta does state to use 30 or 40 developer. Urgh wish I was blonde lmao 🤣

You must have very strong hair for it looks shiny and healthy. Might want to look into what not to dos vs what to do so not to wind up with fried tresses.

    Wow! 😍 I have been searching & searching for this certain “Carmel, honey,milk chocolate” color..it’s hard Bc pictures don’t really show the real color.. But OMG, this is it! I am obsessed! I’m definitely going to have it done!
    *Why is it, when we have to try a few things Bc it didn’t go right the 1st time..is when we get the best results! One time I did my own highlights...😳When I took the foils out, I looked like I had platinum blond/white, dreads..🤦🏻‍♀️ My mom was laughing so hard, she couldn’t breath!! While I was practically dying & almost crying!! Then it looked orange 😩 . (LOL 😆) So I bought toner..it was purple, so my mom scares me & says “now it’s gonna turn purple!” she scared me a little! But the woman who sold it to me, said that’s what I needed..So I trusted her, she was right! It came out so good! But I’ve never been able to achieve the look again! It was like a goldish Carmel cappuccino color*

    • @MargoHepburn
      @MargoHepburn  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Kimberly Diaz Hi babe! Thank you!!💕 & yes I did have virgin hair to begin with, BUT we also dyed my hair before we bleached it at first, thinking it would lift my hair. So if you wanted to try this, I’m sure it would still work for you even if you have box dye in your hair! Depending on how light you want your hair, you can avoid bleach all together but if you do use it, just make sure your hair has enough oils before you bleach it (3-4 days without wash) to ensure it doesn’t cause too much damage! I would also recommend the products that we used in my description box! Also, this whole process took me 3 days total. So make sure you keep that in mind, if you already have delicate hair, let your hair rest for a day after you bleach it! 💋hope this helped!

    • @ruthie_rosario
      @ruthie_rosario 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Crush up 20 vitamin C pills, mix it with a clarifying or dandruff shampoo (these strip the hair very well), and some baking soda. If you are able to, apply it to dry hair for the best effects, but you have a lot of hair and find that this is too diffuse for you to do, just get your hair completely soaked in water, then apply the mixture all over your hair. Massage into the lengths of your hair really well, DON’T RINSE IT OUT YET, you will put your hair in a shower cap or plastic bag. Leave it for an hour. After an hour, you can wash it. It is important to rinse your hair for 5 minutes, then shampoo it as you normally do 2 or 3 more times. This will ensure that your hair does not reabsorb the hair dye molecules. You will see some color going down the drain. This is not damage, just extremely drying. You can do it multiple times in a row. Just be sure to deep condition after every session, and if possible, put some grape seed oil in your hair when you get out of the shower. It might feel greasy, but it’s better than being super dry, and you can wash it out the next day. This is recommended before using bleach because bleach can react to your previous hair dye.

    Would I have to use the dye brown hair first then bleach it ? Or bleach it then use the brown and then the toner ? Since it didn’t catch the brown the first time ? 🤔😅 I kinda want to try it

    • @MargoHepburn
      @MargoHepburn  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi love! Definitely BLEACH first, and depending on how your hair lifts after the bleach, I would recommend to just dye your roots! and then lastly tone your whole hair! Hope that helped! 👼🏼💞

    Do i need to put also the developer that comes from the toner? or just use the developer in the bottle to mix?
    Also how much developer did you put in toner to color your hair? Thanks

    • @MargoHepburn
      @MargoHepburn  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! I used a separate developer to mix with my Wella toner! Depending on which developer you use, it should have the indicated amount you should be using, on the bottle! I used Salon Care 20 Vol. developer. Hope this helped!💞

    Could you please mention the proportion of bleach, 20vol developer and the colour ?

    • @MargoHepburn
      @MargoHepburn  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Nidhi K hi love! 💖 thank you so much!💕 so following this specific bleach instructions, it was bleach to developer ratio of 1:2
      It comes with a scoop so we used two scoops of bleach and measured that in grams. So however many grams in bleach you use, multiply it by 2 for the developer! And as for the colour ratio it was 1:1 for the dye we used! Hope this helped😁

    Hi! Your hair looks amazing. You just inspired me to do this on my own. Its my first time and I am super nervous so researching everything. My question here is, I have a level 1 natural virgin black hair. I do not wanna go super blond, its a medium brown 3/4/5 may be, so how to choose this level? You mentioned something about using a Loreal quick blue. How do we know the color level?

    So basically you mixed 1:2 ratio of bleach to 20 vol developer and then put a blonde toner with 30 vol developer right? What ratio was the toner:developer?

    • @MargoHepburn
      @MargoHepburn  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi love! 👼🏼 So that’s correct for the bleach and as for the toner the ratio was also 1:2
      However, I recommend using 20 Vol. instead of 30 vol. developer for the toner! That’s how my sister is mixing my toner for my touch ups now! It’ll be healthier for your hair! Hope this helped 💖

    • @MargoHepburn
      @MargoHepburn  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that’s correct! It wasn’t a complete fail because that first attempt to dye my hair without bleach I managed to turn my roots brown since roots do pick up the color quickly. So just keep that in mind as well! Hope this helps!!🥰

  • @melissa-hdz

    Hi there! ☺️ it’s been awhile since this video so idk if you’ll see this but if you do let me know your thoughts 🙏 so I had a professional come do my hair, which I’ve been dyeing black for years, and asked for a caramel brown color. Since the black dye is no longer present in my roots she did not use bleach and just applied the color. Now my hair is caramel brown on my roots to about roughly where you could see the brown the first time you added color to your hair in the video. The rest is still very dark. She suggested we wait about a month to continue just adding color and eventually getting to the brown I want in my full hair. I don’t want to wait, what can I do? Bleach everything except my roots, add color, then toner? Or do I bleach everything except my roots, and just add toner?

    • @MargoHepburn
      @MargoHepburn  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi!! ♥️ If your hair is black, then I would recommend bleaching your hair first and then toning it. Avoid your roots since they’re already brown! Those were the steps my sister did in this video to achieve the look I got! As long as you tone your hair after bleach, then you will get your desired color! I’ve linked the toners that I used in the description box if you want to check those out! Hope this helps!!👼🏼💞
