    I'm NOT a professional. But, I've done this technique successfully on myself. It's almost a year later and it's time to do it again. This is by far the best, clearest, detailed without endless yammering on an on an on🙄. Every word is purposeful and on point. Thank you!

    I’m not even kidding when I’m saying that this video changed my balayage game !! I tried it once after watching your video and my balayage has never looked as good , using this technique ! I tend to overthink things and the way you broke down the process really clicked with me !! I’ve done like 20 balayage since watching this video and I’ve loved the results ! Thank you so much ! Best balayage video ever ❤️❤️

    This is so enlightening. Every time I ask for a balayage, my hair stylists always separate my hair as if they’re doing highlights and I HATE the results. This is what I want

      Tell them you want hand painted balayage no foils and make sure the specialize in this technique not all stylists like to do this application method or know how to.

    I'm not a professional but i do stuff to my hair all the time lol, i followed your tutorial on my niece's hair, shes 6 and her hair is down to her waist its a very dark brown. She has been begging me to make her hair look like mine lol. So i did this, and turned out beautiful! It looks subtle, but with so much dimension and looks so natural, didn't even have to tone it. Thank you!

    I‘m screaming at my phone right now. I asked for a balayage from brown to mid-grey (so there was no need to have super bleached hair) and brought an inspiration photo with me. However, I have zero experience with dyeing hair or different techniques and the consultation had me believe that my hairdresser knew what I wanted. I left with weird highlights in blue, purple and pink (“it will wash out”). Needless to say, I‘ll be back there in a few days and pray that they are able to fix it. The colours do wash out but it’s still a damn mess.
    Thank you for the video, it provided a few very interesting details for me to “make my case” when I go back to the salon.

      I actually prefer the foil technic cause it's more clean and professional. Also this hairdresser mixes the hair roots from the middle up on the roots, that's pretty wrong technic to use to the hairs cause it's damages the hair cells. I've seen a better application of balayage using a blender cream. I'm here to check out technics on this process and I believe the foil & blender cream is the best I've seen so far.

    I wish I watched your video before I went to the salon. The hairdresser was supposed to be the best in the place. She didn't do any of the things you mentioned! She just took strands of my hair puffing them up towards my scalp very closely, like they do for rastas and then painted the rest. Then washed my hair and on a wet hair(!) she started brushing those tangles she made. I ended up with an entire head bleached with only the roots my normal colour. It was horrifying, now I will have to wait for years to get my beautiful long hair back.

    Thank you so much for sharing the head-sheets which demonstrated your sectioning that was extremely helpful. Maybe I'm still too new to the industry (only been licensed for three months) but when you said your lightening clay lifted up to 7 volumes I had so much anxiety just imagining that! Hopefully with time and practice I'll have more confidence with lightening in general, but I love balayage because of the freeform style of application and over all effortless appearance it gives.

    This is helpful but the second picture 3:35 you showed is not correct. The hairdresser is saying make lines going from back centre of top of horse shoe to top centre of ear. And when she demonstrates it by making sections, its also the same way as she explained. The lines in the image go in the other diagonal direction as far as i understood.

  • @ZZ-bt2jr

  • @limabean7235

    This technique is great if you want a natural look. But if the client wants a lighter look like a shimmery silver white. Then I suggest doing it in foils and Teasing before applying to create a good flow. When bleach hits air it oxidizes itself and so therefore you don’t get the necessary lift . Placing bleach in foil Prevents the air to hit it and also traps in the moisture and allow the bleach to continue to lift.

    Great tutorial! Would you avoid doing any balayage on the very top layer of hair if the client demands it? she still has some damage on just the very top layer and insists on not touching it with lightener at all, although I think it would not really damage it much further ( she has a level 6 with a bit of 5 on top.) and wants to achieve an overall dark golden ashy blonde balayage. Many thanks for your advice on this!

      Hi Abdullah! We might recommend getting referrals from your friends who have hair that you admire. Depending on where you live, you can also do a search on area salons that might be a good fit. Once you've found a salon, having a thorough consultation with your stylist will also help to determine if they are right for you. Hope this helps!

    • @KenraProfessional
      @KenraProfessional  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lori! So glad to hear you enjoyed this video and thank you for your feedback. Quick answer to your question. To balayage is to paint. The back combing provides a buffer for blending. Using the Simply Blonde Clay Lightener and a balayage technique, you do not need to back comb. In balayage, you are primarily painting the surface to create a natural lightened effect. ☺️

    What is the best application for a high contrast result?

    • @KenraProfessional
      @KenraProfessional  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Smaller sections with a fuller saturation will create less dimension and may achieve a higher contrast. However, depending on the starting level and the desired end result, an open-air balayage technique might not be the best option for a high contrast result. We recommend checking out this video: th-cam.com/video/lMDb3gGbRMU/w-d-xo.html as another option to achieve a balayage effect.

      Hi Whitney! You can add more right away. Just be sure to adjust the developer volume for the area you are lightening. You may want to use a lower volume developer for re-applying on previously lightened hair. Also, be sure to adjust your timing to prevent over-processing the hair.

    How would you take the diagonal Mohawk section of the client parts their hair in the middle?

    • @KenraProfessional
      @KenraProfessional  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the beauty of a diagonal mohawk section! It allows for the client to part anywhere and still have lightness at the part, or around the part if doing balayage considerably away from the scalp. We hope this helps!

    Hi! Thank you for the helpful tutorial! I was wondering if you could clarify a bit more on how to pick the correct direction for the diagonal sections at the top of the head. You say to make the diagonals to go towards the heavier side of the hair when parting the hair to the side. My hair part is towards the right of my head so my left side is heavier. Would I follow the direction of the sections you show in the diagram at 3:14, or would my diagonals be in the opposite direction? Thank you again for the tutorial!

    • @brittanykateevans
      @brittanykateevans 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Balayage is a technique, not a style. Balayage can be used to create an ombre, for example.
      Just noticed your comment is a year ago. Hope it went well ⭐️
