Hello I'm naturally dark brown hair but I have bleached my hair and went many diffrent colors. Around december I dyed my hair black using box dye I havent dyed my hair again since then. And underneath you can see the black fading because of the bleached hair I had underneath. Anyways any tips on how to remove this black hair dye ? To atleast a level where I can do some red color or some type of color?
Thanks, yes this helps me as I've been on utube for past cpl days trying to get some info on black boxed hair after it being red - deep reds - darkest brown to black for cpl years now too going back to med brown. Any advice atall please if u can spare the time? Id greatly appreciate it🤞 thanx
This is the EXACT thing I am going through!! I have been looking for someone that explained your process EXACTLY. I am SO glad I found your video! I first died my hair black when my oldest son was 1, he will be 20 this year! My hair is really long & I just kept dying black because I felt stuck not wanting to spend a TON of money to change it. Now that I am getting older (I'm 43) my roots are coming in white. So I stopped dying it black 3 months ago and have been putting a darkish brown color on my roots just so it will blend better. But it still looks AWFUL. I don't want a dramatic change and I DO NOT want to bleach it. I just want to slowly lighten it some to brown so that it looks more natural and not has hard to keep up with, and eventually years down the road fade into my white maybe through SLOWLY highlighting it. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video. You seem so down to earth and made me laugh too :)
Hey how are you? I’m not here to criticize at all just want to let you know few things.... when doing step one and 2 should of applied a virgin application, which is midshaft first (the most resistant) then roots, then ends. That way you might have gotten more of an even lift. The reason why your roots were lighter(we call it “hot roots”) is because your root area has the heat from your scalp so it processed more then the midshaft and ends. If you need to apply another colour on top to get rid of your “hot roots” (which is btw such a pet peeve of mine when clients so at home colour) do your roots only, let it process and last 5 min pull the colour through to ends. Glad your happy w the results though. ALOT cheaper than going to a salon I guess lol!
I know this is an older video, but I'm just now researching how to transition my dark brunette (salon colored w/ occasional box color to extend time between appointments) to brown, to light brown to ultimately letting my grey grow in. So this was interesting. I wanted to share with you that I thought you did a great job! You were natural and communicated well, giving us good feedback on what you were doing and why you were doing it. Lighting and cameral angles were done well and editing was editing. Just enough background music without overwhelming the listener. Overall, a really good production. I especially love that you allowed us to see you with no make up. It made me feel like I was hanging out with a friend... which of course, makes me (the viewer) want to come back. ; ) And there were some very helpful comments left in the comment section, too! Keep up the good work.
My first TH-cam video! I am SO excited! Be sure to comment down below and let me know how I did! Also - let me know what video you want me to do next! Thank you for the support 🙌🏻❤️
I like the video, you did pretty good but you forgot something very very important... say the name of the product, brand and show it so we can find it! 😅
OMFG I AM SO FREAKING GLAD I FOUND YOUR VIDEO!!! I have literally, like you said not found another video that has years of black box dye 😒 I tried Color Oops twice & just my roots lightened 🤦🏻♀️ I also bleached it & nothing 😭 I swear it looked like I had dyed my hair black again 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ I was a red head before the black & blonde before the red. I’m trying to be a red head again, but I’m not having any luck 😔
Kai H So the bleach burned my hair even though it didn’t lighten it 😣 I ended up cutting it & I’m going to keep it black till it grows how I had it when I was looking for these videos
La Cristal Omgggg i got my hair red tho!!!! I gave it a bleach wash and then went over it abit more in just bleach on the areas less damaged that needed more light!! xx Then got a Live (brand) box dye in vibrant red and omgg it worked :) xx If u have extensions im sure u can try bleach washing x but yeah olaplex and serums will help u xx
Thank you for this video, I've been trying for months looking for a video to help strip some of my black hair dye it's not a box hair dye it was from Sally's but it's been there for months
I am the same as you have been dying my hair box black dye for more than 20 years basically all my youth been black and never experienced any other colour. Recently I decided to go away from black and I ended up red ginger and this not going anywhere no matter how many times I used remover and bleach there is still that red pigment. So I put ash light brown over and still ended up having dark hair. It is so difficult to get out of black. Maybe that was the reason I never even tried before but now I have this burning desire to go to my natural hair and put a stop to all the chemicals.
Angel Toyota lol can you tell me how to Carmel in my dark hair lol after i figure out how to get this brass out ,sure wish i could go to a salon, to many bills. 😥
If your hair is porus, why not put somthing a little acidic on your hair to close it up? Like add in a little apple cidre vinegar to your conditioner? It will work to close the lifting of the "shingles" of your hair
Im intrigued at 51 seconds cuz u said u dyed urs for 14 years which matches my time anywhoo. Im ready for a change n ive been trying for 2 years to get it lightened n it worked with a salon but 200 bucks every 6 weeks got too steep for me at this time. I grew up learning things from my mom and stylists but my hair is very thick very healthy n im terrified of fucking it up. I do strand tests first. But i really hope this will work at least then i can get to brown n let my hair chill for a bit n then continue with lightening.
Our hair seems to be the same!! Dark brown with red undertones....im sitting in my bathroom trying to fix hot roots from trying a medium chocolate brown with cool tones. Its actually Wella 5BC (fudge pop) .....EVERYTHING turns me red!! Any suggestions??? I have gray roots (since 17 years old 😭) but even when my mid shafts fade....they fade to an brown with red tones....uggggg I DONT want black (which is the only thing that will cover the gray and not turn red)....and I DONT want red either!!! I just want to be a nice medium brown and add in some baby lights!!!! Please send any of your trial and error suggestions!!!
Bottle number 3 let’s you know if you still have color in your hair so when you recolor it won’t go dark again if you still have color in your hair do it again you can use color remover up to 3 times
im trying to go a shade lighter! my hair is a mix of dark brown and green (tried to color fix the green with red brown dye and it worked but i have left my hair to fade and stuff) but i wanted to do a deep bright red but my hair is too dark but i dont wanna bleach it because i dont want fire engine red. im tempted to try this.
I'm regretting having my hair stylist use a level 2 or 1 and the black was cute when she styled it but after I washed it and blow dried it myself, it is not good against my pale skin and I'm regretting my decisions... I finally grew our at least 80 percent t of my previous colored hair, I was black to NATURAL:(
I swear on everything...we have the same exact hair color story...14 years of dying it black... attempted to go blonde two years ago... ended up just covering it up with black again... been growing it out for three months...just bought colorfix trying to go a brown color... same same same. 😂
Hey do you mind sharing why you didn't chose to do the vitamin c method to strip down the black? I also have been dyeing my hair jet black for years (about 7 years). And I also just want to achieve a dark brown. Like you did in your video
I never use an application brush I just scoop a lot of it in my hand and massage it in the top and get more in my hands and massage it in the bottom and just massage it all over for a good five minutes to make sure it's all saturated. And I also had to use two applications since I had dark hair like this. My end result was the red that's on the box of the color oops. 😧
Great video, I have black box dye in my hair at the moment. If I use this product you used will it turn my hair my natural color or will it just turn my hair lighter? (If you happen to know lol)
I just realised that she is dark as she is explaining how to lighten her hair. I guess this didn’t work however please use the kit to the directions. Thank you so much for this video ❤
If I did color oops, and L’Oréal Paris remover, then just died it. Now contemplating, colorfix should I wait? Or will my hair be okay as far as damage?
hi i have a question, i am also trying to lift my black box hair dye (a years worth) and i want to dye my hair red after. once my hair turns back to brown, will i be able to dye my hair red? the red dye contains bleach
momo babie if you’re trying to lift black box dye hair, once you bleach it it will turn orange/brassy. (Like mine did after a years of box dying 🙈) if you plan to dye hair right after it will be absolutely fine because the bleached hair will be a red shade
Your hair wasn’t porous. Your cuticle was open and your hair was dry. The chemicals in the hair stripper contain sulphur. It literally drank the color. I did a protein treatment and deep treatments for 2 weeks before dying it. I went with 2 shades lighter. More than that will leave your hair brassy or on the red side because obviously if you wanna be a level 4 and you use a 7 unless its an ash you wont tone as much you will need green to tone that red. Or you can do a flash tone. Look up toning with black hair dye (highly effective NOT recommended for novices)
You shouldve bleached it instead. I bleached mine to strip the black off with a superdrug bleach blonde then i went over with a reddish brown so it was visible
Impatient...present!! Im ditching the blonde achievement for a while. I did a strand test once n i got orange lil rubbery. Scared tf outta me. Thank god the strand mixed in my bottom middle part of hair haha fuuck. Ok
I tried bleaching my hair so I could dye it, but the black dye did not come out at all, but my roots are blonde now, I don't want to go out in public like this, what should I do?
Girl, I am so sorry I have been there. I put a hoodie on and hood over my head, went to the grocery store in tears with my momma and picked out a brown color to dye my hair again to make my roots match my ends. I waited a week and then tried to remove to dark unwanted color in my hair using non bleach options. They have so many options now! Colorfix worked best for me for lighting my hair but yes girl I’ve been where you are right now and it’s not fun.
Don’t put permanent dye on lightened hair. The reason why is because you have already opened up the cuticle all you need to do is put semi permanent or Demi permanent hair on permanent hair color is like a double whammy don’t do it.

So, youre saying to use the step three? Then if it doesnt strip, repeat step 1 & 2 again?

You're gorgeous! And your first video turned out great😍
You’re so pretty! And this is the exact situation I’m in right now so I’m heading to Sally’s to get Colorfix. 🤞🏻
Wait 48 hrs after color remover then color it 2 shade lighter than the color you want then it will be that color
love this video!!! new favorite youtuber 💁🏻♀️

Bottle number 3 let’s you know if you still have color in your hair so when you recolor it won’t go dark again if you still have color in your hair do it again you can use color remover up to 3 times
If you wash your hair with dawn dish soap it helps strip the colour 😊
It won’t strip this Redken shade 4 out when I asked for Shade 5
Ooh
I love watching you talk Lindsey. and your hair looks amazing!!!
Dan Grindle thanks daddyo!!!! ❤️❤️
Thanks for this video! It's 5/14/20, and I can't go to a salon.
Hey Lindsey!🤓
As we age we need to light more!. You look great with new hair
im trying to go a shade lighter! my hair is a mix of dark brown and green (tried to color fix the green with red brown dye and it worked but i have left my hair to fade and stuff) but i wanted to do a deep bright red but my hair is too dark but i dont wanna bleach it because i dont want fire engine red. im tempted to try this.

Did it work ?
U did this back to back after blow drying after round 1?
Omg that happened to me I’m still trying to figure out how to get rid of the black stripe around my head... 😭😭😭
I just dye my hair soft black one day ago can I use color fix?
Hey do you mind sharing why you didn't chose to do the vitamin c method to strip down the black?
I also have been dyeing my hair jet black for years (about 7 years). And I also just want to achieve a dark brown. Like you did in your video

I just realised that she is dark as she is explaining how to lighten her hair. I guess this didn’t work however please use the kit to the directions. Thank you so much for this video ❤
Your hair reoxidized. Dont skip a step in the instructions just because you've seen other people on youtube do it like that. 🤦♀️
If I did color oops, and L’Oréal Paris remover, then just died it. Now contemplating, colorfix should I wait? Or will my hair be okay as far as damage?

Doing this tomorrow when u put the toner in do u do it when your hair is wet with product on or off?
Great video and very useful information. ❤️❤️
tncountryfan you da best 🥰😘😍❤️
I’m here because I only want to strip the black box dye off my ends. I’m going for an ombré look.

Redken blue bottle urgent. Thank you.
I tried colorfix, It didn't work. Wasted my money and i didn't skip any steps.
Thankyou for the advice!
No problem! I hope that helped!
Lindsey W. Yes it did. Thankyou!
Impatient...present!! Im ditching the blonde achievement for a while. I did a strand test once n i got orange lil rubbery. Scared tf outta me. Thank god the strand mixed in my bottom middle part of hair haha fuuck. Ok
Great video! You remind me of my wife :)
Jeffery Whitener haha we are a lot alike 🤣 she understands me for sure
Oh Hi Husband hahaha
It's like having a new wife with this brown hair!
Great video though for real
Your my new favorite youtuber !!!
I tried bleaching my hair so I could dye it, but the black dye did not come out at all, but my roots are blonde now, I don't want to go out in public like this, what should I do?

Rae The Weirdo hahaha yes I did. I have been there more times than I would like to admit 🤣 my hair dresser friends hate me I’m sure 😂
Best wishes 👍
So did you put all of the number one, and number two in it?? Or just half of it 😭😭😭
Great video very imformative, thank you x
Are you a Taurus by chance ?
Amazing thanks
results did not look like the after photo you showed at all!!!
Looks different on camera
Don’t put permanent dye on lightened hair. The reason why is because you have already opened up the cuticle all you need to do is put semi permanent or Demi permanent hair on permanent hair color is like a double whammy don’t do it.
I just watched video on here-Head and shoulders and vitamin c and it worked.
New subscriber!
THANK YOU this was very helpful ❤️
Your a beautiful young lady and you can rock any color 👍
Thank you! You are so sweet!
You can't dye it a lighter colour. It will always go darker no matter what color you dye it with. Learned from experience..lol
Now all you need is Demi Permanent color to get the brown you want
So y is ur hair black
🔥🔥🔥🔥
The Zard Hunter thanks bro 🔥😎
I've used this product before, and it smell sooo bad... just beware... the smell stays for a while if not days on it.
Good video but please get rid of the overly loud obnoxious music, it ruins the video.
If I could go back and change it I 100% would
5:24 lol 😅
She looks so different without the makeup, she is like a different person. 😯

seems excessive for hair that looks almost the same as when you started....
Hey there! It wasn’t excessive at all and totally worth it in my opinion. I know the camera lighting doesn’t do it justice but there was totally a difference and I couldnt have been happier with the way it turned out ❤️

Cool vid, n I’m a dude...
