went down to the store today. service blew me away. so different to some of the big camping stores, where if you can find staff, not interested in talking to ya. i now believe i have more than a fighting chance of catching fish on a regular basis. equipment, and locations supplied. Yeeha
Great video. I’m moving to Perth from the UK (Wales) in a couple of weeks and can’t wait to unload the fly gear and have a go!! Any recommendations on patterns?? Baitfish over shrimp work best?
Hey mate, done plenty of spin fishing for all these little guys, getting my first fly rod... after catching a bone fish in Cocos Keeling Is... what a rush! Keen to hit my spots with a fly, what type of fly line should I be getting for this? Intermediate, sinking, floating? I dont normally fish anything deeper than knee to thigh deep, casting off the drops, what would you recommend? Thanks, keep up the good work
Hey mate, are there any reliable lure choices to target flounder on spin gear? I do pretty well on flatties throwing double clutches around the swan but have never had any interest from flounder (i fish a pretty large double clutch)
Black and purple is the go. Believe it or not but medium to fast retrieve has worked really good for me. I used to fish around point Walter a lot! Best I've done is 12 flatties over 43cm in a 3 hour stint and the biggest was always just on the shoreline
That’s a big flathead!! Would love to go to Australia/NZ to try it out! These flounder and sand dabs get boring after a while here in Washington state lol. Keep up the salt fly vids!
This kind of fishing is almost always blind casting, but flounder can be quite easy to spot behind a lure, hence the ability to try again if they don’t commit the first time.
For this style of fishing location isn’t really important. Every sand flat in lower and middle reaches of the Swan River is guaranteed to hold flatfish, just a matter of figuring out how to fish your local zone 😉

I've been impressed with the service and knowledge

Clouser minnows and crazy charlies are popular options for flathead, flounder and bream in the Swan River.

The verbal abuse that flounder copped before coming home for dinner...😂
Deserved every bit of it 😂
Nice vid mate any chance you know what the spot you caught the flounder at?
Nice catches mate, just wondering what size hook your using with your clouser?
Hi Paul, from memory it was a size 4 or 6 hook

Bucktail jigs and vibes as well as plastics are great options for flounder as well as flathead in the swan.

Hey mate was this around the freshwater Bay Area by chance? Cheers
In the vacinity 😉
Great fun in a spot I would not have thought would be worth looking at. Nice video thanks.

Thanks mate, they’re a pretty cool fish!
Are you sight fishing everything? Will you blind fish that sort of area as well?
This kind of fishing is almost always blind casting, but flounder can be quite easy to spot behind a lure, hence the ability to try again if they don’t commit the first time.
I'm 99% sure you're on Google maps mate!😅 look up the street and pan onto the water and there's two fellas wading fishing
Is there any flathead still around? haven’t caught a flatty in a month ,but caught a flounder last week
Still plenty around mate 😉
What a great session, good stuff.
is this matilda bay in the swan river?
A little further downstream from there
Whereabouts is that?
In the Swan River Liam
@@compleatanglernedlands4318 yeah but whereabouts in the swan thanks

the underwater footage was great
Thanks Steve!
wouldn't the blowie destroy all the fly?
After a while they do wear down the fluff, but this fly lasted 2 whole sessions of ravenous blowfish activity before it got retired.
Good to see it
I’ve had a flounder Go for mine 6 times.
They're pretty keen hey😂
