I love meat but for anyone who doesn’t fakes is one of the most healthy and protein rich foods you will eat. It’s authentic traditional Greek food from the village!
@@Greekosophy thanks for replying, wasn’t expecting that but in regards the recipe it was literally the same as yours minus the bay leaves, a dash of vinegar and a couple of fine slices raw garlic finished off the soup (optional in your own bowl) with bread. I personally use this recipe as a base then go to town with veggies if I feel like making it more hearty. I add carrot, mushrooms, zucchini, potato and the bay leaf. I guess that doesn’t make it traditional fakes anymore but sure tastes great for something different 😊
@@PebblesHomeMovieChannel A dash (or more) of red wine vinegar is a must, but when you actually serve it (so each person can add the amount of vinegar they prefer). In Greece (especially in the villages) it is traditional to serve Fakes accompanied with side dishes of raw onions, anchovy fillets (the salted ones you get in a tin) and smoked herring. Next time I make Fakes I'll try adding vegetables and let you know :)
Hi Alan. I can only speak about this particular Lentil Soup recipe, as I don't know the other ones you refer to. This channel is about Greece and this particular recipe is a traditional Greek Lentil Soup recipe. It may be similar to others, but we can't help that. Regarding the length of the video, the feedback we receive from our subscribers and viewers shows that they prefer a long format, where we show step by step how we make a particular dish, as they can see every detail and learn every tip we can offer.

We agree 100% :)
This recipe is very similar to the one I grew up with. Very nice 😊
Thank you! It is my favourite version. If you have the recipe you grew up with I'd be very happy to try it :)

It looks yummy 👍
Thank you! It's really yummy. And t's equally tasty hot or cold!
As I just said about a previous lentil soup recipe, why are all lentil soup recipes the same, though this one was over twice as long.
