Thank you for sharing Yiayia! I have been searching for recipes to recreate the one my yiayia made. My mother adds celery and carrots, which is nice but it is not like my yiayia's from the village. Please consider adding more recipes as it helps younger generations stay connected with their Greek heritage.

Thank you Yiayia, and out of all the recipes I've looked up, yours appears to be the most authentic. I tragically lost my mother in a terrible car accident 20 years ago and although I use to help her in the kitchen I never caught the full recipe. This means a lot to me and it seems almost/very similar to my mothers (vinegar and everything, garlic, onions, tomato paste etc.)
Thank you, thank you, (Nasse Kala!) I will make this exactly like your demonstration.

Ty so much ! Made this tonight was delicious and easy and healthy . My lentils cooked very fast like 30 minutes ...I still had some loose skins but I guess it depends on the lentil .

On this video I show how to make the roasted Greek potatoes. They are made the same way for all greek dishes. th-cam.com/video/cdRfg7CCGXo/w-d-xo.html

Nice ! Whenever I cook lentils the skins break off and float all over the soup and make it ugly .. how can I avoid this ?

should the lentils not be soaked to remove anti-nutrients? thanks

I'm not aware of any anti-nutrients, lentils are a type of legume, not a type of grain. They can be cooked without soaking, it'll just take longer. If they're a discount brand, the quality may vary and they may be harder to cook, so it'd be a good idea to make a test batch to see if they need to be cooked in a pressure cooker or not.

The only reason you would soak is to make it softer. Not any other reason.
You rinse of the water a few times to clean. But other than that that’s it.

why do you remove the white lentils?

They were pebbles, not lentils. They sometimes get mixed into the lentils during harvest.
