Really helped me in the decision process. Watched almost all whoop and oura related videos on the channel as i was not yet sold on one of them and had already consumed a lot of reviews for both. Really like your work. The feature of the whoop being able to be charged while worn is a huge pro. Currently using a suunto baro which, after 5+ years only lasts 2 days. @@Sakonimo yes, i like it a lot. Very happy with it. Better sleep and better activitiy (planing) - no useless running around to get to 10k steps, like other devices promote
It’s a relief to watch this and realise there is someone else in the world who has woop, oura and Apple Watch and is still using all devices over 3 years. I keep thinking I should discontinue at least one but it’s like saying goodbye to a friend.
Whoop sounds like it would be a little more fit for me. But i ended up getting the Oura ring recently only because its covered by HSA/FSA. I paid $60 in total out of the ~$600, 3 year warranty ring and the rest is covered by HSA from the company.
I'd go for Oura because of the style and confort of it, and also it's remarkable sleep tracking algorythm. But ! The fact that whoop is h24 hr measuring and can pick up activity hrv is kind of killing it here. Please let me know your thoughts !
Amazing video Shervin! I am loving these videos! Personally, I would chose the whoop 4.0 because you just leave it in your arm and forget it. Thanks for the video!
Agh. Terrific video. I’ve been on the fence between these two devices for weeks, watching and reading everything I can find. I’m mainly interested in health monitoring - sleep, cardio, etc. I do Peloton 5x/week, but not overly concerned with steps or other fitness tracking. But if the data is so different between these two devices, are either worth wearing?
I'm not in the market for either product or have a need at the moment but I happily watched the whole vid with interest. Great video, very informative and clear! Keep up the great work and content! 😀
@@ShervinShares love the travelogs you've done. Any 'day in the life' using a piece of tech I've enjoyed. Would be interested in hearing your thoughts on how the Pixel watch is going (if you still have it!). Whatever you do I'm sure it'll be great.
I have a question, hoping you can answer to it: if you connect either whoop or oura ring or both to Apple Watch, that has better and more precise data collection, especially for sleep and heartbeats, will they analyse the same data but through different algorithms?
I wear a necklace. When I take my rings off, I loop them into the necklace. I don't undo the necklace clasp. I simply thread the entirety of the two threads through and let it hang down on my tag (shaped like a military dog tag). luckily thanks to this trick I've never lost a ring.
I feel like as an apple watch and garmin user for fitness tracking I’m really only looking for more comfortable sleep tracking and I feel like the ring would be more comfortable than another thing kn my wrist. I mean I want to eliminate wearing my watch to bes
You killed the idea of getting any of them. If the data is so different then either both of them or one of them is useless. Looking at that data will just confuse you.
Without the phone, when working out, Oura will ask you next time you open the app if you worked out and what did you do, based on its detection to heart rate increase
I have just found your channel and I love your content it’s inspiring me to put my health first and get back into exercising. I am also going to be getting an Oura ring for Xmas 😊
I just noticed in this video you had CPAP selected on WHOOP, do you have sleep apnea? Just curious I recently had a sleep study done and found out I have it myself
This was a great comparison. Im looking to get the whoop soon and This might be a dumb question but I work rotating shifts and have to sleep during the day for about half the month. Can these be set up to track sleep during the day like that?
No need to set it up. It will automatically track your sleep, whenever that happens. It will track your naps automatically, too I've had the whoop for 4 months now and just went ahead and prepaid 2 years to get the discount. Big fan
Dude, it tracks SLEEP, not time of day. Neither product gives a shit what time of day you're sleeping, it's measuring your inactivity, lowered pulse and breathing rate vs. awake, etc.
I have the Oura ring, and I don't like that I have to tell it to record heart rate at a higher sample rate for a workout. So the Whoop always records heart rate at a faster sample rate - so I can go back and add a workout? That's a closer for me.
yes WHOOP samples HR at the same rate all day long. doesn't matter if you're doing an activity or not - which allows you to add/edit activities after the fact
I charge ring while I’m showering. I work trade job and love that oura can keep up and take little to no damage. I’ll turn wrenches and stick my arm in mud pits and ring holds up. Just started with whoop. I DONT like that there’s 2 steps to charge my device. I also want whoop to majorly step up their community. Would love if their levels corresponded to being put in a random 5-10 person week long competition (along same lines as Apple Watch competition)
Anybody with the Oura able to give any feed back about fit as far as, if your hands swell, does it move back and forth, is there a lot of gap between the ring and your finger?? I am a personal trainer and coach and have clients asking about the ring, and these were things that came to my mind.
great question!! Yes my hands swell & shrink a ton. Hydration, Sauna, Sleep, Daytime, etc all have an impact. Yes sometimes there is gap, other times it feel too tight & I switch fingers. I recommend wearing the sizing kit sample ring for 24 hours to make sure that’s the size you want. Gaps are fine, just captures less data when that happens so being mindful to decrease the time that your finger shrinks (somehow hah)
I would size up. In the summer time your finger does swell but I love it and the features. My only concern is it being scratched when I do weight lifting.
Great video. New here. I’ve got a iPhone 14 xs max with my watch Garmin Enduro 2. Mmmm I set myself looking for wearables and the ring looks great but. The big bet it I’m a builder. I’m trade. Would the ring hurt while carrying heavy objects
I just noticed that when I wanted to get back to whoop, that if you have an account from before that you want to keep using, it’ll cost 120$ to get the hardware again. Even if you returned the hardware last time.
I am using the whoop to track the long haul “illness”. Have had brain fog, fatigue, and no taste and smell for 17 months. And fyi i am fully vaccinated and that was my second bout of the illness. I am trying to track the impacts of all my attempted treatments on my HRV and stress.
When you have 2 devices using the same sensor technology to provide you with the SAME data and they report OPPOSITE things like "Take a break today, you need to recover." & "Get after it, you're supercharged!" etc. it is complete proof this technology is unreliable at BEST and not worth throwing your money into. Fit, feel, etc. are completely subjective and your desire to turn it into a fidget spinner no place in an "unbiased" review. Accuracy - A finger is more accurate than having a strap on a wrist or arm. Anatomy. Why do you think hospitals put monitors on a finger where it's easily pulled off instead of an arm or wrist that could be more secure? Anatomy is your friend. What it really comes down to you: Oura ring for sleep because it will be more accurate (if you chose the right right size). For fitness and daily use where sleep isn't your top concern, Whoop.
