Most others say insert key 5 times. Anyway it does seem some random group of vehicles have had this feature disabled. Im waiting on an obd dongle to see if that works.
it does not work on a 1997 Tercel. Is there something to do swith a dot on the key or a dopt on the replacement? No one mentions that. My original key had no dot but the replacement key they sent me has a dot on it. Ias that the problem? Do I need a replacement key with no dot?
I am a technician,I tried this method many times and the vehicle won't go into the programming mode (the light should stay on steady) I was using a master. Comments please.
MrEugatnom leinad here's the pedal dance. It works on the majority No need to panic or rush through thlis procedure, just do it right. Haste makes waste 1. Simultaneously depress and release brake and accelerator pedals 1 time 2. Insert an onginal Master Key into the ignition but do not turn it 3. Withm 15 seconds depress and release accelerator pedal 5 times. 4. Within 20 seconds depress and release the brake pedal 6 times and remove key. 5. Within 10 seconds insert New Key into igntion but do not turn it 6. Within 10 seconds depress and release the accelerator pedall time Now sit and wait for about a minute until the security light stops blinking. 8. Remove new key and depress and release brake pedall time 9. Test your key now It should work if you followed the instrucuons. If not. You may want to try the door dance which is what this video is.
If the light doesn’t stay on its likely reached the maximum number allowed to program. You have to go and erase it. There’s a software that can do that.
