  • So in this video I traveled to the Isle of Mull on the West Coast of Scotland for seven days for wildlife photography at its finest.
over the seven days, I hope to photograph as much wildlife as possible including otters, Eagles buzzards, red deer, and anything else I may spot through the lens.
The forecast was for blue skies light winds and column sees making for perfect conditions to photograph and travel around this beautiful island. not only that but the forecast predicts that the Aurora borealis will be present on Tuesday and Wednesday, so fingers crossed for clear skies and that I may be able to get a few photos of this wonderful spectacle of the Northern Lights.
the trip proved to be a huge success with many hours spent photographing the otters, a close encounter with two white-tailed Eagles, and a fantastically coloured night sky with the Northern Lights.
My trip to the Isle of Mull photographing wildlife was a huge success and truly a trip to remember I look back upon for years to come I really don't know how I am ever going to top this trip to this lovely little island off the West Coast of Scotland, I suppose I will just have to look forward to my trip to Arran in October for the deer rut season and fingers crossed for another fantastic few days photographing the wildlife.

Well I’ve watched a few videos of Mull over the years and I can say this is one of the best. Like you did I check others to see areas to visit as I go on to the island every year. I did get the WTE and otters last year but no as clear as you have. I am due back end May and beginning of June so hopefully get similar finds. Between now and then I’ll revisit your video for inspiration. Keep up the good work.

Many thanks @mrsbilko glad you liked the video, and I hope you get some great shots on your trip in May/June, I will be interested to see what you photograph as I have never been at that time of year. Have a safe trip. 👍

I appreciate your respect for being in their home, you walk and speak in the way of the plains tribes, and the coastal NW tiribes who also lived with respect for four leggeds, swimmers, winged ones, without the typical superiority of a two legged male from the UK. My people came from Mull, Colonsay, Barra. Watching this makes me want to return. I guess if the white tailed sea eagles can return, it is possible to return to the peat fire also.

Somehow I missed this one! But wow just wow!! Thank you Ashley for sharing the photos and film of these beautiful amazing creatures. What an absolute privilege for you to be able to be there and see them and film them, and a privilege for us to be able to see this. Plus the beautiful sea eagles. It looked like the one had been ringed?
It also made me laugh that when you where talking right at the very end, an otter was swimming behind you! Fantastic!!

What a fantastic video of an amazing island.
Went there last September and so impressed not as much luck as you when it came to otters but got a couple. If you go again I’d highly recommend Mull Charters for the white tailed eagle. Not cheap but an experience of a lifetime.
Up there again this September so fingers crossed

thanks for the comment Mick yeh it's a fab place yeh, will be going back that's for sure, in September/October I go to Arran for the Deer Rut, but there are otters, eagles, dolphins, and more there also, so never a dull moment in Scotland. Hope you have a fab trip and get to see plenty of wildlife. 😀👍

Great stuff Ashley, you can count me as a subscriber too now 👍 Love your ethos on your approach to wildlife photography mate, I have witnessed some appalling behaviour from ‘photographers’ (ahem!) in their obsession for ‘the shot’ 🥺 Excellent photography & videography of the wonderful wildlife to be seen on Mull, did you get to see the Shorties and/or Hen Harriers? Great stuff, I shall watch some more of your content.
    Keep on keeping on!
    Best,
    Nick

Hi Nick many thanks for the great comment, I have reciprocated the subscription and followed you on Instagram, yeah when it comes to wildlife photography I feel like you have to earn the shot by sitting and waiting for hours patiently, that way I feel that when you get the photo your after it is more special, as you put the time in the effort in to get it., and then when you do get the photo it's just a fantastic feeling. I have met some grumpy old men on my travels I will tell you that. 👍😁 all the best Nick, thanks
