Somehow I just knew this car was going to work out. Yes, I want to see it get recommissioned, and yes, I want to see what's involved in getting it race-ready! This is kind of a vicarious dream project for me: find a needy but solid historic race car in a barn, get it track-worthy, then take it out and run it...
Nice Nice Nice Steve, found in my neck of the woods. Definitely interested In Race Prep videos. Have a 63 Sprite with roll bar & some rear end upgrades. Always have Grant MI in mind since the vid you made racing there. Yepper Full Throttle on the Race Prep vids.
I should have guessed what was under the cover, Elva was my guess. This is a great find and with some cleaning and what I presume will be pretty easy stuff you have a very fine car. Yes please bring us more on this car and your other race cars. Here just South of San Francisco I see a read Elva that is road registered every so often, great little cars.
Well it is green so it could have been a Jaguar D Type! This car looks like it has not been off the road or track for too long and when you came to start the engine it seemed to be eager to run. It sounds good but as you say it needs some preparation if you want to race it. It will be interesting to see some work done on this Elva. Thanks Steve for not making us wait too long for the reveal even if I guessed wrong. 👍👍
Most of the small British manufacturers just went to a vendor and purchased what was available. TVR, Elva, Marcos and the rest had parts that could easily be found on the cars of mainstream manufacturers. Essentially Lucas and Smiths parts.
top car, i just think its strange in a fire / emergency one needs a special key to open the trunk where the race fuel tank is, to use a fire extinguisher
That key is used on most British cars made before the mid 60s, Triumph TR2 and TR3s being some of the last cars to use them. You need the key to even open the bonnet on a TR3, an engine fire is a larger fire risk than a fuel tank.
The racing fuel cell that was put in does not have a sender, on my other cars I use a marked dowel to see how much fuel is in it I was surprised not to find some kind of stick in the trunk for checking the fuel level.
What an amazing find. More videos on this car showing the race prep stuff would be great.
That Elva is beautiful. More videos of prepping for racing would be great.
That Elva is a nice find. Yes, please, more videos. A rare bird indeed, you have there. It will be fun to see it at the track eventually.
ANY Elva content would be greatly appreciated! Congratulations on your new finds, Steve!

I think my 66 Alpine had Smith gauges and it definitely had those cool toggle switches. I wonder if my Alpine and your car we’re cousins.

I vintage race a ELVA MK IV . I would be very interested in a series on race prep.
Great stuff thanks
Yes on race prep. Go Clones!
Interesting car, it would be a interesting journey to see how it is brought back to race fitness 👍

I'd love to see what it takes to prep a car for racing

@@ThisWeekWithCars thanks sorry hehehe
I like it!
Make it a racer again!!
Hi from England lovely car
sweet car.
More please.
That fuel gauge may work and you have no fuel. I’d check because you don’t want to burn out the fuel pump.

No we aren't wondering, you already ruined the reveal in the thumbnail...
I think in the UK, we call this an Elva Courier ?
Here also.
I thought the Elva Mk3 came with a Climax FWA engine?
Not the Elva Courier MK3
Cool
More videos of this Elva
DO race prep
1489 or 1622cc MGA engine fitted?

Steve Do l get a Gold Star for guessing it was an Elva ?😅
