    Hi everyone! Comment below if you have ever done a craft show, and how it went? What products worked well for you, and which did not?

    Love your videos and congrats. I will just throw out an idea for you. You will get some uptick in your online sales from those who attended but buy later. You might consider doing a specific event discount code. This would allow you to track which sales were a result of this effort more closely.

    I do craft shows and flea markets using my xTool F1. Also starting to do gun/knife shows. Custom engraving while customer watches.

    thank you for sharing your tips with others that might be on the fence about using maker space as a business.

      Never even thought of using a maker space as a business. Talk about low barrier of entry. Great idea Joe. Then all the risk would be in materials and time. Sounds like a win to me!

    Craft shows are great sounding boards for products. Even if you don’t sell a lot, you get feedback on products and see what people are interested in. Then you can focus on making more of those.

    • @85thandPine

      So true. We got a lot of great feedback on our items. Lot of "wow that's cute". Just think it was the wrong audience. That's why we do a little better with our online sales in my opinion.

    Is your stuff all pre made or do people have to pre order everything? Reason I’m asking is that, you don’t have many things on the tables.

    • @85thandPine
      @85thandPine  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for noticing! That was by design actually. We brought plenty of items to sell, but had them under the table. We didnt want to clutter the table with too many items and overload it. Instead just having a few looked better to us, and as customers purchased items, we restocked from under the table.

    Lake County is one of the poorest counties in Michigan. I’m surprised you even did as well as you did. I was a State probation/parole agent in Lake County and very familiar with the area.

    Not sure what state you live in but in our state every craft fair requires a federal tax identification number

    • @85thandPine
      @85thandPine  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s surprising. Our state doesn’t require a legal business at shows.

    • @Firefighter1997
      @Firefighter1997 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@85thandPine yes we are required to have a LLC with a tax identification number. So it’s really hard to get started. We just put ads in the paper and have sales in our driveway and during citywide garage sales and do that with a few towns around us where we have family and friends

    • @85thandPine
      @85thandPine  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. That's why it's so hard to give advice if each state has different rules@@Firefighter1997

    • @matchstickdesignco
      @matchstickdesignco 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Firefighter1997 I think you may have misunderstood something. Who told you that you need a LLC to sell at a craft fair? No state or locality can REQUIRE you to form a LLC in order to engage in commerce. They may require a business license, but that's easy enough to get, and most cities/counties offer temporary ones specifically for craft shows or other weekend events. And concerning the "Federal Tax ID", well, that's just your SSN.

      @@matchstickdesigncomy businesses are all under an umbrella LLC, the others are DBAs. We did get an EIN because I don’t want my SSN on paperwork everywhere.

    So the actual show itself brought in an average $255 each day. The online sales aren't related to the show. So with that in mind, and not knowing the cost of the booth, it's hard to see any profit here.

    • @85thandPine
      @85thandPine  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep it's hard to make a call withthout knowing all the information. We did this show last minute, and still walked away with money and experience to share with our followers.
