When we watch it we don’t get the feeling of how much work and effort is put in to it because of how well done you guys made it. You guys are so great.
I LOVED WandaVision. The creativity involved is astounding. Thank you to everyone involved in bringing the magic of Wanda and Vision's story to the series.
Scenes like this are super impressive to me because the base footage is so blank. E.O. just screams in anguish in front of a green screen and then does a bit of wire work. The CGI team has to take that kind of awkward scene and make it into something epic.
Seeing Wanda’s anguished scream without the VFX just reminds me what an incredible actress E.O. is. Add those absolutely stunning effects, and the whole thing is just elevated to some god-tier level. Can’t believe it’s been a year since this show! Might just have to tuck in again.
The thing that gets me is how much of the regular normal elements around 0:30 (grass, cars, trees etc) was replaced with digital assets and I had no idea. The really obvious spectacle centered effects are amazing, but I'm always even more amazed by just the very pedestrian effects that I had no idea were even effects when watching.
Mega props to whomever edits these Behind the Magic segments. Can't imagine how many individuals were responsible for getting all those layers. I don't suppose there's a behind the scenes of Behind the Magic...? lol
Okay, so, Elizabeth _had_ back support-ish filming this scene (1:28) I was honestly a bit worried about her back when I first watched the show lol. Working for Marvel has had this woman bending backwards like she's in a limbo game for her life.
Absolutely stunning simulations there, particle sims and voxel sims are some of my favourite things to work on in this industry. I assume this was done using Houdini but I can't be entirely certain as at the end of the day, sometimes studios make their own custom software and plugins to make effects lol
Because effects will always look "painted over" (because they are) if you film your actor in front of the real background. You need to cleanly separate the different layers of real photography so you can put the effects between them. Also, when you have a moving camera, you need to have exactly the same moves for all plates you shoot. Which can be quite tricky, and if you have the money (or already have digital versions of your sets for other reasons like they did here) it is just so much easier to use those. Especially when you add effects that should properly cast lights onto your set. That is next to impossible unless you have a 3D version of your set.
that was emotional and happy all at once ygor cerqueira seeing effects it really was emotional and happy all at once this is for my hot blonde women teacher baby woooooooooooooooooooooo happy tears
Hmmm, I don't know whether this is a matter of budget or time constraints, but IMHO this is a poor result. There's plenty that's been done well, like the 3D modelling, but to me, most of the shots are just completely ruined by the terrible practical lighting. There's a key light in the first shot which never changes at all! Next, in the medium shot, huge CG light sources appear in close proximity to the performer, yet she has soft shadows falling on her in the wrong direction? Looks cheap. Then there's the pink smoke which doesn't seem to interact with the background properly, and in most of the shots looks WAY too oversaturated for the ambient lighting in this overcast environment, making the smoke look cartoony. Overall, there's just a wrong interaction of light sources and other elements. All CG elements are either luminescent and must light up the environment, or non-luminescent and should be mostly dark and desaturated unless they happen to be well-lit. The streaks at 1:57 are fun. I don't really keep up with modern film and TV, but this doesn't look like the standard of the ILM I remember from the 20th century. What happened to T2 levels of professional excellence?

I couldn't agree more

I just LOVE the effect you guys did when she is giving life to vision! Those colors are so beautiful!!!
Wandavision compeltes a year today(jan15) and it still remains fresh in my heart.

GOT CHILLS AGAIN! the scene is just heartbreaking, can't stop shed tears and got spine chills everytime I see that scene
Truly one of the best sequences in Marvel history. You feel every burst of pain and emotion told visually.
I love watching these videos!
Did you guys work on the finale when Wanda takes Agatha's powers from her? That was the most hellacious CGI light show I've ever seen!
That was an extremely moving scene. Kudos to all involved!
INCREDIBLE.
Superb. Respect to you all
Awesome, guys!
This is amazing effects.
After watching the hardwork behind this.. I fell into tears 🥺🥺🥺❤❤
Huge respect to you guys out there at ILM ❤🥺

ILM is the best in the job
truly inspiring work
LOVED THE MUSIC SO MUCH..
Amazing
Awesome 😎. I would like to see Shang-Chi : Tony Leung & Shang-Chi kid are in the casino please. I saw behind the scenes & they use stunts too.
What a kaleidoscopic series.
So cool!
Nice Magical trail!!
Big respects towards ILM, as always, but I particularly enjoyed the end credit sequence of this show more than anything else.
i feel like you need a phd in astrophysics to learn Houdini
Doctor Strange 2 is about to up the ante for Wanda, can't wait to see what ILM does!!!
I want an open matte version
Happy 1 year anniversary of Wandavision everyone!!
The kind of scenes I thought the show would be full of. Then a few seconds in I realized it was a sitcom and I immediately couldn’t have cared less.
ILM after starving us for long is finally feeding us with great content these days 🔥
Do you have a course
They can't even shoot the second part in a real apartment ?! Why ?! Great work ILM

1:29 Why didn't the one on the right need to be backed by a green screen?
1;28 lucky guy
❤❤❤❤
i donno why it's not look like real
wryyyyy
that was emotional and happy all at once ygor cerqueira seeing effects it really was emotional and happy all at once this is for my hot blonde women teacher baby woooooooooooooooooooooo happy tears
so this serie was made from home
She released her super power through an emotional outburst. Isn't that misogynist? Seems so.
