What a beautiful & earthy house! This feels like a home filled with warmth. India has so many unique styles in terms of traditional & classic architecture. But now a days we are thrusted with concrete box with no character in the name of western style. In this house See the connectivity using the center courtyard where one can see or hear from one corner of the room to other corner room, See the earthy colors mixed with artistic popping natural colors to go with it. We should embrace the traditional style & try to modernize to current standards without loosing the character.

beautiful home. This house has a mix of Chettinadu and Kerala style elements. Usually authentic chettinad interior designs/decrations are little overwhelming for modern houses. They suit more for very large houses. Good that the architects toned down those elements and the final result is very pleasing.

I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful house "Savita Vadi". I was awestruck for 2 hrs. This charming house has old world warmth leaving you spellbound. I wonder, can you create such a beauty by just spending money and time!! Difficult to capture… the essence of passion, emotion.. and chemistry between the owner, Architects and artisans. Equally fascinating is the selection of colour pallet, materials and the architectural space planning. Traditional roof with beautiful terracotta ceiling tiles and Service Ducts housing all functionalities located outside are a blend of artistic and tech master strokes from Architects.
I wish Video presentation could have reflected these elements…including the spaces such as study room, wooden stairs, living room, dining with paintings of renowned artists, south verandah and balcony, pantry etc.
This home is an exercise in exquisite detailing, elegance and tranquility in reality.

They traveled and broadened their minds. Esp when most of the art of India, sea travel or going abroad was forbidden for religious reasons. Chettinads were merchants who travelled frequently to the south east part of asia. They made money, built up wealth and put it to useful use. The villages were not far from the sea coast andthen there is the cauvery delta. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chettinad

Great combination of ethnicity, earthy colours, layout and grandeur. Traditional style is never boring. God bless the owner. This is home.

Beautiful house, richly decorated, quite picturesque, heavy use of wooden columns. Everything rare, rich, beautiful.

    Cost ?
    Constrn cost ?
    Design cost ??
Just one suggestion: the wood inside should have been dark and not camel coloured or light.

It's an adulterated version of the Chettinaad banglow. The architects have somewhere or somehow got lost in the final planing both at the interiors and at the exteriors. The original re-creation has failed
very badly. To find out how, it is not a big hunting process. All that you can do is to spend atleast a week visiting the old Chettinaad bungalows in Tamil Naadu. You will find a good lot of basic deviations in this house when you compare it with the original architecture of the Chettinaad houses. In all the Chettinaad houses, whether big or small, there are some very elementary aspects and principles that do not change at all. But here there a lot of lapses at the elementary level itself. For a Dakshina Bharathiya a very simple glance at this house will reveal
a good lot of non-Chettinaad features right away. It is because, we have lived in these ancestral homes for a good lot of period in our lives. To conclude, the architects have tried their best to their extent possible, but to say it is a Chettinaad house is incorrect.
