    This video was made over 2 years ago! I made this video when I was very new to these techniques. I'd love to make some updated videos!
    This is my personal technique to apply balayage with a base color! I hope you guys got some good tricks or formulas to play with. Let me know if you like these kind of videos and what you want to see next!
    Formulas Used:
    ALL WELLA PROFESSIONALS
    Base: 7/81 illumina with a little bit of 8/1 1:2 ratio with pastel developer
    Freelights Powder with 40 Volume Freelights Developer WITH Olaplaex #1 (1/8 oz)
    Toner: 9/01 ColorTouch with a little bit of 8/81 ColorTouch 1:2 Ratio 1.9 (or 6%) Developer
    Products Used:
    Framar Wide Color Brush
    Wella Professionals Balayage Brush
    Wella Professionals Elements Shampoo
    Wella Professionals Post Color Service
    Olaplaex #2
    TO STYLE:
    The first two products are products sold exclusively at my salon, I'm sorry!
    Harmony Glow (Before Blow Drying )
    any dry oil based spray is comparable
    Harmony Mist (Before Curling) any heat protectant is comparable
    Hot Tools 1 & 1/2 Inch Curling Iron with Clamp Removed
    Wella EIMI Ocean Spritz - Once the hair is curled I like to spray this onto my hands and shake out the curls for a more beauty effect.

    I am a professional Hair Stylist. PLEASE, do not attempt to do this at home on yourself. This video is meant for tips for fellow hair stylists, or clients to see what the process involves. You are pretty much guaranteed to not have it blend evenly, or have bleed marks. If you are not sure about going to a salon, have a consultation to feel it out first! Better to be safe than sorry!

      @@amandaireland4493 I know this video is 3 years old. But I have a question. I use Wella color but I’m curious why you used the pastel developer for the root color. Also, I couldn’t find your Instagram page.

      @@michellecarothers9691 hi! So since she isn’t grey I wanted it to deposit more. Illumina is permanent so using the pastel cuts the ammonia. My handle has changed since then… it’s now amandaraebecker ❤️

    That was wonderful! Thank you! It came out beautiful! One thing though, freelights are designed to be mixed 1:1.5 or 1 to 2 and the Service cond. Is important to seal the color and normalize the hair, brings the pH back down! Pastel deleloper removes the ammonia makes permanent color a toner! Thanks again for a great video! Subscribed!

    I just have to say I have searched and searched and SEARCHED for the best balayage tutorial (as a newer stylist) and I am absolutely AMAZED at this tutorial! You really took your time, you didn’t speed up the video, you thoroughly explained every single step and I couldn’t have been happier!! I’m ecstatic to try this technique on my clients!! You’re amazing! Easiest technique, yet most beautiful outcome I’ve seen!! Quick question! Is that a semi, or demi permanent color you used on the root? I’ve learned that permanent colors aren’t as seamless!

    • @amandaireland4493
      @amandaireland4493  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tracy Aaron I did apply it after I toned. I did mention that in the video. I like to do it after toning usually!

    • @jennahowell4610
      @jennahowell4610 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You did the Olaplex in the right steps I can’t figure out why people aren’t getting it. I love love how this turned out especially the blonde!!! My girlfriend is a professional and has owned a salon for moons. Paul Mitchell products. I was trying to get her to help me get to a blonde like that. I had a friend try first, she used bleach and I looked like an orange so I went to her and she used base color with foils and toner to fix it but put too much dark blonde back in it and ended up with highlights and lowlights. Miscommunication I guess. She said it would be a couple steps to get my hair where I wanted it which was photos off Pinterest I guess were ash blonde bolyage hair. Anyway it looked a hell of a lot better than it did. Went back after some root growth for the next step in getting it more blonde and I’m not sure what happened. She did a high lift (which I have done before I used to do 4-5 color foils and high lift myself on my hair for years until it hurt my back to do it never ever ever had an issue) during the process I said my scalp was burning a bit she said it would stop. Ok I sucked it up. When she dried it I wasn’t thrilled at all it looked orange again! I wasn’t sure what to say my head was burning a bit I paid her the $105.00 and $40,00 tip and left. By the time I got straight home 30 minutes later I felt my head it was on fire I couldn’t even touch my hair hardly and it was all wet and nasty. Let me tell you I had the WORST oozing gross chemical burn you could imagine! I couldn’t touch my head at the crown area where it was for over a week. No washing nothing sleeping hurt. It kept scabbing and peeling off it was gross. I actually have the last scab that came off along with a decent amount of hair and it actually left an open hole in my head for awhile. It seems healed now no more scabs in weeks you can just feel the indentation where the whole was that healed over. I am annoyed as she appeared mortified after I told her. Never texted to follow up I was in the salon a couple weeks after it happened for a microblade from my other friend that I could barely lay down for she did pop in and check really fast that was it. She saw me a couple days ago and said we need to put a toner on your hair. I was like yeah sure.
      So now that I have written a book I feel safer doing it myself like I did for years especially since I’m not doing all the highlights. Here’s my issue. I have brown roots now 1/2” maybe but I cannot stand them up against my orange blonde in spots hair. I did get a wells t18 toner and just a 10 developer for sensitive scalps. But I’m also thinking it needs a recolor I did grab a pale and an ash light blonde and I had a lightest natural blonde already all Wella. I do have a dark intense blonde but not sure if I need that but the ash blonde photo I showed her had of course some darker color still. I have ion version of olaplex. Is starting over the best way to go maybe? Blend the colors in a balyage fashion just using different blondes and the dark to dump the orange and get the color I wanted hopefully?
      I apologize for such a long post but I feel the entire history is important

    I tend to not balayage over a root color because I find the blending can pull orange. You can somewhat see it in the mirror reflection. Was it less brassy as a whole?

    • @amandaireland4493
      @amandaireland4493  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Susan Kinsey yes it was less brassy as a whole. It can be tricky but i never do two step processes. I always do all of my foiling and balayage with the base color

    Wow this turned out so beautiful. I love color melting, gives the most seamless blend out of all the techniques I've used. You do such a great job

    this was awesome!!! the only troubles I find is when I blend the blonde into the color for root melt it seems so brassy. what toner should I use to knock that out. I usually use the paul Mitchell uta. thanks again the hair looks so great

      If it gets too brassy you can use two toners, tone the brassier area with the according shade and then the ends with a lighter shade.

    Fantastic job & nice finish. Can you please specify the bleach mixture & the
    additional product you mixed with it for protection? and why 30 vol. with the toner
    instead of maybe a 20 vol or 10 vol. ? Thanks trying to learn! What was the product
    you used finally to finish? It gave such a nice shine and looked good.

    This technique is really similar to what I do. But I have noticed sometimes the melted area between my base color and the lightener sometimes doesn’t lift as well and becomes too Golden for my clients. Have you ever experienced this? Do yo. Have any ways to avoid this. Also, instead of leaving a section, could you just take the balayage lower to break up the previous “brass” midshaft?

      When touching up a Bayalage with browner roots your better off doing foilayage as the bleach penetrates the hair better and lifts it more

    hello, i love the colors you used, I have a question, i will be doing my sisters hair she is a natural level 4/5 i will be using a 7NG as her base with 20 vol, and bleach w/ 30 vol highlights, i will be toning with an 8A...should i use an ash toner or a violet toner?

      I usually prefer something with violet in it!
