    I had a raccoon family in my attic.
    The attic has many corners beyond reach and not visible.
    Searched on the web and found the ammonia treatment.
    Got two bottles from Walmart and throw a few tennis 🎾 balls soaked with ammonia and the raccoon family gone.
    Cost $2.51.

      do they still come back from time to time? im now struggling to find an effective way to deter them. every time i seal off an entry way, they just dig another hole on the eaves.

    • @Memow-pk1ng
      @Memow-pk1ng 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      To deter them, I got those ultra sonic repellents, have different frequencies & flashing lights. Also put down. black pepper, cayenne , & vinegar. Noses very sensitive& back off. Gotta make sure no babies in attic
      or probly wont keep mom away. So if are , best to wait
      till are abt. 8 wks. , & will follow mom, & relocate, then seal. Need several of repellents to keep away.
      From Amazon many to choose from. I found the brand NEVALEX be most effective, was abt. 40

    I had a repeated problem of critters entering my attic each winter. They’d get in, but couldn’t get out, so they’d die in a wall, after which the fly eggs on their coats would hatch, maggots would feast on the carcass, and I’d have horseflies in the house all winter.
    A lady friend called me one evening, and when I told her I had a house full of horse flies, she said, “Flies? What, did you leave a window open?”
    “Yeah,” I replied. “It’s the middle of January, 10˚ out, and I have all the windows open. They must be snow flies.”
    So I finally got a steel roof and the chimbly capped. Cost me $14,500, but it was worth it. No more snow flies.

    I hope we all know that this is due to habitat lose! And yes, they use “our” human resources bc we’ve cleared away theirs. Now, I’m not against “industrialization” and “urbanization”, but we must have patience and respect for our fellow animals.

      Deforestation (loss of trees where the many raccoons dens are) is a huge culprit.... they are chopping down and removing trees left and right because they will absorb 5G frequencies / microwaves-- when it goes live..... 5G is a military grade weapon that will be implemented to make all humans sick .... and yes, even die. Its another form of depopulation by the New World Order. Please do the research.

    • @latonyanewsome0

      I don't care. I lived in the top floor apartment, therefore I had the attic. They moved into my apartment. It was very traumatizing because my apartment complex did not move right away until I contacted corporate. I had small animals and a dog. I'm not about to let them attack my babies. Raccoons don't just move in because of the lack of protection in the wild, they move in because it's warm/cool, it's a great hiding space, and nearby food source (trash). A lot of people want to blame habitat loss but that's not necessarily true. There were trees and woods all around my apartment so why did they move in the attic (and others who had the top floor)? It's for those reasons. Easy access. They said this in the video.

    In my experience, when the mama raccoon figures out you found her babies she will move them on her own. Just give her a day or two to find a new place. Depending on where the nest is you may not even have to wait that long. We have several raccoons nesting in our property for years. We don't chase them away but sometimes when we make noise in the workshop or show them to our guest mama will move them away to a new location. Please, never call anyone to "relocate/kill" them. If you absolutely have to get them out, unusual activity around the nest will motivate mama to move her babies.

    Since you closed access to where they were denning, where will they safely go now for protection? They don’t have some impromptu den they can conjure up like magic whenever they need to use it. They’re going to be out in the open defenseless with their young babies searching for another den or in this case another house to make their den.

    The whole thing is that people are destroying their habitat. However, an electric wire installed by an electrician will do the trick. Raccoons will get shocked and never come back again. They will remember. Done. Germany does this. The relocation is a joke, they just go to another house.

    I had raccoons living in my crawlspace. We tried to evict the raccoon but she had babies underneath our house. She kept coming back to open the entrance even injuring herself to do so. So we decided to let her move back in. One night, I think the male raccoons found her nesting spot, I don't think they entered our crawlspace, but my dad and I were able to chase them out our front yard and put cayenne pepper around the fence where we know the mother raccoon do not use. Somehow the mother raccoon and male raccoon got into a scuffle. Since then, I think she moved her and her babies out to a safer location. We were able to board up our crawlspace to prevent any more animals from entering our crawlspace.

    Just had a visitor two nights ago. I was terrified because rabies and possible wounds sustained upon me and my cat that was two inches from it. But, I still thought it was adorable. Even when it poked its head back in, after a successful evacuation, through the cat flap. It was like "is this a bad time? Sorry bye!"
    Good to hear there are reasonable measures being taken out there. We have to balance our welfare and safety with allowing these wonderful creatures to live their lives.
    On the other hand, Bambi can die in a fire. Can we do something to up the natural predators to help control these beautiful fvckers?

    • @TheRccrf
      @TheRccrf 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      +maxpowerFatalily Yeah, I think Germany would disagree with you. I think they have more than their share of raccoon issues, also Japan's not having much fun with their raccoons either. They're an invasive species that Columbus brought over to Europe and Japanese imported after watching the anime Rascal the Raccoon. The issue with them is that they're tough creatures who can take on quite a lot of enemies. They're kept in check in the states since we have a lot of predators for them, which EU and Japan don't have, especially Japan.

      Raccoons normally ignore cats unless the cat starts a conflict. Same goes for dogs and over larger animals. But you probably should have contacted animal control to take it so they can check it out for any diseases.
      Sorry about your cat.

    • @chrissy8738
      @chrissy8738 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Jardmang No, you're psychotic and in addition to being psychotic, you're also really ignorant. Any animal can carry and transmit diseases, including raccoons, but not all of them have such.
      You are not some woke warrior, so don't get ahead of yourself. You're a deranged lunatic who lets their bias get in the way. You don't like these animals so you deny the fact that they do indeed play an important role in the ecosystem and thus you deem them as "worthless" when in reality you know nothing. If anyone is in denial then it's you.
      You don't live in the "real world" just because you needlessly kill animals within their own natural environment. In fact, people like you are *worthless scum* and the world would be better off without your kind.
      Now please, go away.

    Let me tell ya a story of a raccoon named jim, you see jim here was always a friend o'mine.. beings that We's both hailed from McAllen,Texas. I'd have seen for the most part in jim a sense of adventure , but i also felt like killing him. I recall asking myself "what is this thing ? , Is it a dog ?,a rat ? Maybe some form of cat/dog ." I digress. Ya know I still regret letting jim go back to the wild . When he left.. apart of me left with him.

    The problem is most states give you no real option to do it yourself. I live in Nassau County, New York where raccoons are a protected species. Why they're protected is beyond me since they're overpopulating the area. They should be culled. I've spent almost $3000 this year alone trying to get rid of raccoons from my attic. All these wildlife control companies charge around $1000 to trap and maybe do a temporary closing of the hole the raccoon made in your roof. They have a monopoly since the state gives no real option for you to take care of the problem. I could trap them myself, but it's illegal to relocate them on public lands. So the only other option is for me to euthanize them. Again, no easy way to do this since even if you legally own a gun you can't shot them on your property. They say drowning is inhumane, so what's left? Truth is, if these are protected animals then the state should remove them from my property when they're a nuisance, but of course that will never happen either. So just throw more money into the black hole of trying to get rid of them with wildlife control. It's insane

    Feed the hungry, raccoons are a good meat and also the fur is a good clothing source. So feed and cloth the poor.
    Raccoons reek havoc on my farm killing many animals daily.
    They're so smart and cute, but we can't just let them run amok.
